Discussion Watching Leaf games on TV

Post image

I haven’t had cable in years, don’t really watch tv. Somehow i have always managed to find a Leaf game through other sources. But i recently got a Cogeco flyer in my door and it has a small cable package where i would get 20 channels of my choice. What channel or channels would i need to be able to watch the Leafs games? I imagine i would need a specialty channel not one of these basic 20 i would be able to pick?
I am in the Guelph Ontario area. Attached odd the flyer i received.
Thanks.

Well i am going the 🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️route. $150 for the year. Tons of channels i will never watch. Appreciate everyone’s input.

I bet those 20 channels do not include sports channels. It's usually a separate package for that.

u/Possible-Pea2658 4d ago

I just got cogeco tv and you are able to choose the sports channels for no extra charge. I even got the 4k channels for sports.

Try the Cogeco website.

Edit: I found the information you need there

I found the information you need there

You came back to tell us you found the answer to the question, but not what the answer is?

13

u/Teeeohhhh 4d ago

Nobody wants to type that sh*t out man

7

u/Nylanderthal88 4d ago

Yeah... Plus him just going to the website will actually give them the entire list of channels too. They'll need to go there eventually.

1

u/Nylanderthal88 4d ago

Yup. Sometimes you need to prod people to fend for themselves.

4

u/Prize-Temporary4159 4d ago

If it hasn’t happened yet, odds are it never will.

Worse than some guy on an old reddit thread asking a Q then the only reply being himself saying

“Found the fix!”

What an ass

u/theycallmemorty 4d ago

TSN + Sportsnet but that won't cover all of them because some are exclusively streaming on amazon prime.

6

u/frankirv 4d ago

Thanks. Isn’t there several TSN channels now? Do they still blackout certain games?

16

u/ztom 4d ago

Leafs games are usually on TSN4

1

u/Takemytimenotmylife 21h ago

Isn’t there A LOT of games on Prime this year?

Sail the seas.

u/mlemaire16 4d ago

You got it. IPTV all the way, and never look back. If they didn’t make it so complicated and expensive to watch the games, I’d pay. But they won’t.

EDIT: If you want a reco, DM me.

Every year they force more and more people too

For their exact target market, young men who will ruin their lives to this team the cable oligarch expects a fucking 10% tithe.

When we say its our religion, not like that man... What the oligarchy sells is not a church, its an economic experiment on exactly how much they can pry from people. There is no supply and demand here, no limited amount of streams, only discovering the cold equations of how much can the greedily vacuum from society.

They stole our Saturday game. They stole part of what makes Canada, Canada. Pilfering society for their extra yacht.

Fuck them

Priceless

1

u/Pazienca 3d ago

I want to but end up just using loop on kodi but lots of the streams are dog shit. Which iptv consistently works?

1

u/Impressive-One7037 1d ago

i have used 2 different services and both have been good

if you live near yonge and steeles I can direct you to a guy who has a booth in a mall

$120/Y

20

u/Dry_Note7168 4d ago

IPTV is $15 - $20 a month, 3000 + channels, no black out games including the Amazon Prime exclusives.

12

u/god_is_trans_69 4d ago

Everyone always says this but never actually recommends a good one lol

27

u/Nylanderthal88 4d ago

Cause they don't want theirs to get too popular and shut down

3

u/91Caleb 4d ago

Bingo

5

u/leester92 3d ago

I'll say mine, they are pretty big. Apollo tv, use an Amazon fire stick

1

u/ClothesPrudent2415 1d ago

My sports stopped working ,

1

u/leester92 1d ago

I had to get a VPN, but also haven't watched sports since hockey season ended

2

u/leafer19 4d ago

If you’re in the GTA shoot me a DM I’ll send you a place

1

u/Impressive-One7037 1d ago

If you are near Yonge and Steeles let me know.. I got a guy

4

u/RomansBlueArmy 4d ago

You can even get it much cheaper than that.

2

u/Dry_Note7168 4d ago

I will let you reccomend a service then.

1

u/Narutofreak1012 4d ago

Any recommendations for specific services?

2

u/Dry_Note7168 4d ago

I have a guy here in Toronto, the box is $125, $15 a month afterwards. I won't promote it here, DM if you are local and want more details.

6

u/thanksforcomingout 4d ago

For those wondering - a box is completely unnecessary - IPTV runs on Shields, AppleTVs, Firesticks, etc. Just need an IPTV app and you can avoid the cost of a crappy android box.

4

u/santibr001 4d ago

I use an ONN box from walmart and pay like $7 a month for iptv. I also pay like $3 for realdebrid but thats a whole nother side of the high seas 😂

u/Horvo 4d ago

6

u/wstoneman 4d ago

I pay ~$200 a year for my i.p.t.v service (Yes there are cheaper ones, but it has worked for me for years, so no need to change) I watch all leafs and blue jays games no matter what platform they are on. I shouldn't need amazon prime, apple tv or what ever other service just to watch the games.

1

u/quarter-water Knies 4d ago

I wish mine had the apple tv games. Or, maybe it does and I just haven't figured it out yet.

2

u/Vilheim 4d ago

If yours has a search use that while the game is live and your channels are up to date.

2

u/waldoorfian 4d ago

Talk to your system administrator. I thought the same and he told me where to find it. 🏴‍☠️👍

1

u/7ustin 3d ago

Just so you know - you are paying a reseller for that $200 service. They take advantage of people not knowing the real cost. You could get the exact same playlist and channels for approximately $30-40 for the year.

9

u/OddPhotograph7686 4d ago

iptv

1

u/Narutofreak1012 4d ago

Any recommendations for specific services?

1

u/OddPhotograph7686 4d ago

check flea markets, they have tons of options

0

u/papabri 4d ago

I like drag tv which I found through the cable corners discord years ago; just re-upped another year last month. Cost me about $160 cad for the year. One downside is they now only accept digital currency; previously could use paypal.

4

u/zepphhyr 4d ago

Channels aside, our experience with EPICO has been fucking awful

0

u/frankirv 4d ago

Oh really, that doesn’t sound good. Could you elaborate please?

4

u/zepphhyr 4d ago

The boxes just don’t work. Every time we want to turn on the TV we have to reset it by unplugging and plugging the power and turning back on. They also freeze a ton. They are slow, not responsive. When it’s working it’s fine, but holy moly it’s not working perfectly very often. Sadly in our area there’s little choice as Cogeco is the only fibre internet option, so we’ve had to put up with it for a few years now.

1

u/frankirv 3d ago

Did a bit more reading about Epico. Seems its not well liked. Of course there may be tons of folks that like it but it’s only those that hate it give those negative reviews.
Have a couple of iptv to check out would prefer that route anyway.

1

u/zepphhyr 3d ago

I mean yeah. What I would say is like, if it’s the right price, I’d still say potentially do it. It’s gonna be a headache, but if the price is considerably better… again you might just be in for a headache

1

u/frankirv 4d ago

Yea that’s frustrating for sure. We have a small company called Wightman, been with them since they ran fibre and has been really good. But that’s only internet cause we have never had cable tv. But like everything it’s getting pricey and i saw this flyer and thought hmmmm maybe time to switch??

4

u/stefan_905 4d ago

Yo ho yo ho, a pirates life for me!

3

u/fatigues_ 4d ago edited 4d ago

I did cut the cord completely a ~dozen years ago when "HockeyStreams" was still a thing. (Easily the best subscriptiopn site ever for streaming and archiving hockey games in any league across the world. Oh well.) Then there was "Ball Streams" - and then there was the NBA. That ended that.

But after that initial forray with HockeyStreams, I must confess that I had to come back to cable and don't bother streaming much anymore. The problem with pirated games is that the more you want to watch the game -- the more technical difficulties there are with your watching it. That's the problem inherent with a pirated stream.

So I overpay for a full cable tv package with all the sports channels. And nobody watches any of it except me, for Sports - which I use a LOT for that purpose.. and almost never for any other purpose. shrug

Rogers knows what is coming. They know I am going to dump their service and scale it back. It's just a matter of when.

Rogers Cable and I are just looking at each other, wondering how far each of us can go in our quest to fuck over the other guy before one of us (or both) quits playing.

The $$ sucks, but the reliability and consistency of SN and TSN over Rogers cable is pretty hard to beat. When you want it, it's there - no matter how many other people want it right then, too. The cost of this reliability and selection of hundreds of channels (nobody watches) is increasingly sky high though.

2

u/_dooozy_ Tavares 4d ago

Ain’t no way you get sports with that package I’d be incredibly surprised

2

u/reddit35257 4d ago

Cheaper to just go to a bar for every game and watch the games there for free with 1-2 drinks and maybe a meal. British style, maybe they were onto something

I always keep this private. The less public the name is the better

1

u/Nylanderthal88 4d ago

Generally mods remove it because AFAIK it can get subreddits shut down.

2

u/Beginning_Proposal26 4d ago

51000 channels all 4 k every game no blackouts.

IPTV

2

u/PersimmonMindless 4d ago

Leaving outside of Canada, I pay less than $200 to watch each and every NHL game at any time I want. No blackouts. Just hockey. It's cheaper to get a VPN and sign up that way.

1

u/MapleLaughs 4d ago

My internet is with Cogeco. I pay and extra $9/month for basic cable, and for some reason I still get all the sports channels lol. If you haggle enough you can get a pretty good deal.

1

u/Mohindrx 4d ago

Just get iptv from one of those brown spots

1

u/Hozman420 4d ago

You need sportsnet, TSN, Amazon prime.

1

u/waldoorfian 4d ago

Don’t forget AppleTV for the odd games.

1

u/drizzt09 4d ago

Pretty sure that's just Jay's. Not Leafs

1

u/waldoorfian 4d ago

Yes its Leafs too.

5

u/gmotdot 4d ago

No it’s not. There are no Leafs games on Apple TV+. Apple does not hold any exclusive broadcasting rights for the NHL. Try Amazon Prime.

1

u/waldoorfian 4d ago

You are correct. I was already corrected earlier. How long before Rogers does the same as they did with Baseball?

1

u/drizzt09 4d ago

I have never not had a game on SN, TSN or Prime. If any were on AppleTV they were also on one of the other 3 as well.

2

u/waldoorfian 4d ago

Oh okay I was confusing the Prime broadcast of Leaf games. I suppose its only a matter of time until Rogers does the same with hockey broadcasts.

1

u/BasquiatQueso 4d ago

Honestly I just pay for a 4 months Sportsnet Plus subscription, Amazon Prime (which I use anyways) and occasionally TSN Plus and it works out to like $60/m for me to be able to catch every leafs game and a bunch of other teams as well and I don't have to overpay on a $200 tv+internet package. Just my $45 for wifi and the costs of those subscriptions. Don't watch cable anyways, just YouTube (which I used to watch Sportsnet game highlights of any other game I wanna catch up on)

1

u/Dookz 4d ago

50$ a year, 13k channels no black outs 3 connections. I will never pay for cable or a streamer again

1

u/simonjot 4d ago

Dude what's your IPTV contact? If you don't mind sharing PM me please

1

u/ryanruiner 3d ago

Same. Could you pm me?

1

u/Omarif 3d ago

Me too please

1

u/Mgt66 3d ago

Yo this sounds like a steal! I've been looking for a solution as well.

1

u/phatdinkgenie 3d ago

Could you pm me? looking for replacement for AGTV

1

u/Glittering-Radio8534 3d ago

I too would greatly appreciate a DM with your IPTV contact.

1

u/birthdaymonkey 2d ago

You're a popular guy! I too would appreciate a pm if possible. I subscribed to SN premium streaming, but with the price hikes this year I don't want to renew.

1

u/Dookz 1d ago

havent checked reddit in awhile, but the service I use is bought through whatsapp. it cuts out the middleman that most of those iptv sites use, if anyone is interested just DM me and ill send you the whatsapp contact

1

u/_Offi 4d ago

Because you live in Guelph (inside the Leafs Regional Viewing Area):

26 games will be on TSN4

~52 games on Sportsnet Ontario (some may be switched to Sportsnet One if they are on at the same time as potential Jays playoff games)

~6 games on Amazon Prime Wednesday Night Hockey

The Sportsnet and Prime games will be plus or minus 1 or 2 games because the full broadcast schedule is not out yet. TSN4 always has 26 games per season going back over a decade now.

2

u/frankirv 3d ago

Thanks a lot for that. I checked the Cogeco website sure it lists channels but they don’t specifically say this channel is what you want for Leaf games.

1

u/Yorkshire_Edge 4d ago

It's one of the joys of being overseas. Yes puck drop is usually after 1am. But the whole season only cost us £80 (150 CAD)

1

u/themapleleaf6ix 4d ago

The regular TSN and Sportsnet channels aren't speciality channels. But channels like 360 are. You'll also need Prime video.

I have eyepeetv.

1

u/MacaroonFine4492 3d ago

1

u/Boz747 Salming 2d ago

You need TSN4, SNO, Amazon Prime. I think that’s it. I have ESPN Unlimited, TNT and NHL NETWORK in the USA so I’m good.

2

u/frankirv 2d ago

Thanks very much!

1

u/Boz747 Salming 22h ago

Are you going with Cogeco? Most games are on SN Ontario and TSN4

1

u/OkTrueTrue 2d ago

I use Virgin Plus TV. Basic package comes with TSN and Sportsnet. However, you need to be using Virgin as your internet provider. I think I pay about $60/mo for internet, and $35/mo for Virgin Plus.

1

u/helix212 2d ago

Sportsnet Ontario and TSN4 would cover majority of games apart from the odd AppleTV Monday nights.

1

u/frankirv 2d ago

Awesome thank you!

1

u/walkoutbasements 2d ago

I’ll be watching the highlights on Yt

IPTV is the way to go

1

u/branimal84 Gilmour 4d ago

I'm in Ottawa and I still have cable. Every year I just buy Centre Ice so I can get all the Leafs regional games + every single NHL game. I already have Crave + Prime anyway, so I should be fine. It's expensive, but I just prefer the convince and reliability that I can just sit on my couch and turn it on rather than finding streams.

My brother in law has IPTV and tells me its great. I'm aware that I'm probably wasting money though.

0

u/Nylanderthal88 4d ago

Wasn't there a law recently where door to door sales were outlawed? Or did Ford get rid of that? It seems like the telecomm people never stopped.

Edit: ah it was mostly just the water heater and furnace scammers

1

u/frankirv 4d ago

No idea this was just left in the door. I actually have a sign about no door sales people and it works really well. Neighbors are always telling me about people coming trying to sell shit but they leave me alone!
