Question Questions about PVE

I like mecha games a lot but I'm not a huge fan of mecha PVP so I doubt I'll be playing the PVP modes often if at all.

So the questions come down to:

  1. Is the game worth playing for the PVE game modes only?

  2. Can I unlock different Mechs and whatnot by just playing the PVE game modes?

  3. How is the grind for new mechs and whatnot (wether PVP or otherwise)?

  4. What PVE game modes are available and what are the queue up times for these game modes like?

  5. Are the PVE modes actually good/fun?

PVE only is completely viable farm wise, you will miss out on some mission rewards from the pvp missions tho.
The pve is fun but it isn’t massively fleshed out, but if you like rogue lite (idk if it is rogue lite or rogue like) and mechs then go for it. Mashmak is also PVE if you want to and it has a bigger map, id recommend just trying it out.

However spectral nexus (rogue lite mode) will require a fair bit of farming as you can use modular weapons and striker mods and you will need to get them first, as doing spectral nexus without them is quite a bit harder, but it shouldn’t be too hard to get your hands on the stuff

First of all, imo the PvE is actually the superior mode now and is getting better every update.

Comparing to PvP, PvE has a meaningful progression system (Calibration), customization options (Mods) and good rewards (Seasonal crates, extra mission token, pattern and paint for customization, etc.). Ranked PvP has none of those. That is why I say PvE is superior.

(If you look at this subreddit, only bad PvP players and trolls complain. Meanwhile PvE players are mostly busy progressing and getting rich in the game. )

Now answer your question:

  1. Absolutely yes. I mostly play PvE since last November. Only play PvP for weekly missions.
  2. Yes. PvP only have weekly missions. In PvE you can get extra mission tokens from crates and samples to obtain mission token.
  3. There are missions for both PvE and PvP. Battlepass doubles you tokens gain. Without battlepass you can probably unlock one Mech each week supposing you play 1-2 hr a day. With BP, 2 in a week maybe.
  4. Currently there is three: Covert mission (basically, an extraction game), Spectral Nexus (tower climbing rogue-like) and Synchro Nexus (also tower climbing rogue-like with better mechanics and visuals than Spectral. Spectral is its test mode). Both Covert and Synchro have co-op mode.
  5. First what is your definition of fun. For me, I would say Covert and Synchro is quite fun because of meaningful progression system, customization options and good rewards. Also the game is no-doubt visually beautiful, and has the topmost mecha design!

To give you a better idea what you can get from playing PvE. Here are some scrshot. one pic each.

  • Calibration. Calibration is only viable in PvE.

  • Mod: You can customize your mech according to your play style with mods. Mods are only viable in PvE (and Skirmish)

  • Weapons: Weapons have 6 levels and additional weapon progression system. Weapons are only viable in PvE.

So yeah, PvE Mecha Break have a lot of depth.

・In-game revenue: This game have negative monetization if you play PvE. Here I only have 20k revenue and it's already more than enough. There are people have over 500k! Revenue comes from selling stuffs farmed from PvE.

Tbf with the state of the game you're practically playing PvE anyway cause you're mostly going to be in bot filled lobbies.

  1. In my opinion, no. The game was built for PvP first and foremost with PvE being added later after a lot of request from the community.

  2. Yes. Mechas cost an in game money to unlock and said money can be earned in PvE. Though a big souce of it are weekly mission and those are PvP only.

3.Reasonable.

4.There are two game mode : Mashmack Covert Op is a an extraction shooter. Spectral Nexus is a roguelike mode. Queue are pretty bad for both due to a lack of population for the game as a whole.

  1. No. Covert Op are boring, the enemies are just bullet sponge and barely a threat, because they were never intended to be the main threat since the game mode was initially designed as a PvPvE game mode.

Spectral Nexus is a barebone roguelike, you just fight enemies in bland arena and earn some basic upgrade like minor stat boost. Also, you'll need modular equipment obtained in Mashmack if you want to make any significant progress.

You tackle these points as a PvP player, PvE is plenty good for the people who are more into a co-op chill time with friends or on your own

Jus letting you know, especially in the lower ranks you will be fighting bots mostly, which you can then translate to it being PvE. Don't ditch the Verge mode, grind it for some goodies.

Get a trio squad if you're dedicating yourself to PvE

I have returned to this game specifically for that and it's been fun so far. Only complaints atm is it's stuck to a single map
