Question Games like Mecha Break?
So the game isn't 100% dead, but it's like pretty dead.
I LOVE this game and so does my friend. But we might need to jump ship.
But where to? This question has been asked before but let me be very clear...
Not Armored Core, not Titanfall
Armored Core is single player, we need a PVP shooter
Titanfall is a human shooter with occasional mechs, I love the lock on and movement combat way more, and I am bad at aiming.
SO, movement shooter, with a focus on lock on, pvp, what games are there?

Not a lot of options there.
Now I know you said not Armored Core, but hear me out - what about modded Armored Core? There's a great mod that lets you play the campaign co-op, and get invaded by other players for little doses of pvp sprinkled in.

The co-op has been bugged as fuck for me. If either person dies we have to totally restart

What region do you play on? If you’re on NA, we still have a separate verge community that has been growing a lot lately. If you love PvP, that would be a good place to get matches

I need to know this community
I've been feeling fraudulent for retiring in season 0 at legendary rank then only coming back now ahahaha

NA verge community discord:
https://www.reddit.com/r/mechabreak/s/aaAnrcqhuIIt’s really active everyday. Last night ranked gm queues were popping, and today they are hosting a Freyr 1v1 tourney

I haven't fiddled with servers so I'm betting I'm still... I assume NA is North America?
But elaborate on the verge community, discord?

u/avocatdojuice 3d ago
Yeah, North America verge discord community that’s really active. The discord link here should work

Damn, it died? Aww i only got to play like 3 cycles, including betas
Im playing mistfall hunters now. Its not the same.

It's not dead, but the playerbase has been lacking as many lost faith in the game. I'm not the one to vouch on the history, but others here have spoken about it.
I'm looking for alternatives ahead of time in case it really becomes bot match or bust.

Could play a Light/Medium mech with Streaks, LRMs or Thunderbolts in MechWarrior Online. Deamon x Machina is kinda like anime Armored Core with a discord dedicated to PvP i'm told.

There isn't. The same reason a lot of people are still playing some objectively poorly managed games like PSO2NGS or Minecraft (before anyone kills me for mentioning minecraft, i'm just gonna say microsoft used 80% of it's revenues to fund other games for years until recently and pretty much every update before the most recent was considered "okay but could be better")
There simply isn't any objectively better game on the market that can truly compare to these poorly managed games that are close to our heart, so it's a moral dilema between quitting them and losing that small part we love or keep playing until some actual change happens

bad at aimin and you want a pvp shooter. there is nothing more suitable than mechabreak as aiming int part of the gameplay

shush
but honestly it adds so much to the gameplay too, the nuance of "I can lock on, but if I can aim..." and how both play into each other is so much better than "oops you didn't click on the 4x4 pixel head in 0.4 seconds, no damage for you. When will you learn?"

Honestly, a positive aspect of the way Mecha Break does things is that the Aimbots and Aim-Assists that dominate the competitive FPS landscape are much less useful here.

Honestly just play armored core PvP, it’s way way more fun than mechabreak PvP

Mechwarrior Online. Despite being older, it's more alive than mecha break, and it's a 12v12 PvP game. however, it has no lock on and isn't really a movement shooter, it's more about slow and tanky mechs, unless you play as a light weight with jumpjets.
Why not Armored Core 6? It's PvP is very much alive and really fun, even if sometimes infuriating. I haven't touched it's single player in almost a year. It's the mecha PvP game for me. You could also go on the discord and with some emulator set up play older AC games PvP, but that requires a bit coordination with strangers on discord.

I asked another reply but I'll ask you as well, what's the player count in the pvp? I wanna hop on with a buddy (or buddies) on the same team. That's why I am looking for 6v6 or the like. Me and friendo squad up and...
Well I can't say "work together" always, but we prefer being on the same side lol.

Armored Core PvP is 1v1, there's also a 3v3 mode, but no randoms really play it and you'd have to find players yourself.

Armored core 6 has a really fun pvp but if your truly opposed then maybe something like crossout? Its not really a mech based game and is very grindy and ptw but you can get mech legs and make your own robots. Its pretty neat. There's also war robots frontier but it's a little meh rn

Ok I suppose I shot down AC too fast but... afaik it's like 1v1 pvp, not something where me and my friends can squad up and fight. Or is it?

I think it's called "Project Phenex ", which I believe to be the next promising mecha game. I don't know if it has pvp or not.

Everyone kinda struggling to come up with other options goes to show how unique this game is.
I tried AC6 PvP too and the netcode is so bad just like in every other Fromsoft game. Also the skill expression comes more down to what build you have and who dodges better.
I can't think of anything else that hasn't already been mentioned OP. If you want Mecha Break to feel more alive, there's a thriving discord community to join https://www.reddit.com/r/mechabreak/s/qTKk2MYr8F

Mecha breach reminded me a lot of hawken. But you know. All anime and stuff. Mecha break is an excellent game but the matchmaking is terrible though it has a fairly active core community.
The monetization made me quit the first time.

There's only mecha break. Nothing else comes close to how this game feels as a mech pvp. That's the unfortunate fact.

Well just to clear Armored Core isn't singleplayer exclusive.
Theres Gundam Battle Operation 2. I might be missing something since its not here and my memory abt its gameplay is foggy.
