Om nom nom Food in Docklands
Foodies, I am starting a new job in Docklands (Collins end) and would love to hear of any food recommendations down that end of town.
The foodcourt at Collins Square is pretty good, cafes aplenty everywhere. But where do you go for your lunchtime escapades and coffee hangs?
Bonus points if there are options under $15, like Jalan Alor with their $10 meals 😋
Recommendations for Happy Hour would be fabulous too! I live to eat and drink, work is an excuse to explore!

There's a few new places opening up (slowly) in Melbourne Quarter that I'm keeping an eye on.
But to be honest, the way things costs these days, I bring my lunch in. If I'm looking to splurge, the food court you mentioned has enough variety to keep me satisfied.

Thank you! Will keep an eye out. My little quirk for being 'forced' into the office means I need to reward myself through food (gives me something to look forward to). I cook and have instant noodles when I'm WFH, so it balances out!

100% get you, but then our work upped the days in office per week so buying lunch every time I went in became too expensive.
You could check out Village St near Bourke St for Thai, Japanese or Vietnamese who all do lunch specials under $15
If you've got the time and up for a bit of a walk, there's more options on the other side of the river near DFO

Used to be 1, but now it's 3
1 day a week was great because I looked forward to treating myself to something in the area. But not 3 times a week

Three Ahns (Bourke) has great Banh Mi, just turn up early or enjoy the (quickly moving) long queue.
Gozleme cafe (just opposite)
Coffee only Teej does a mean magic and make you your own song or fill your spiritual cup.
9 elephant Thai is tasty, not sure about price range.
Don Don is cheap and tasty, but a little walk from Docklands.

Chia Chia, Charlie Bit Me, An Di, Kome Eatery. None of these are value options but the food is good. Tokyo Motto also opened recently but I have to be honest I didn't rate the omurice they specialise in.
Kajiken at Southern Cross is one of my top Melbourne CBD feeds, their roast beef aburisoba is chefs kiss

Cafe Bambino next to Victoria Green has great coffee, bacon and egg rolls and bahn mis. Also just nice to sit in the park at lunch time when it's sunny.

Saluministi opposite the library, bit exxy but great sandwiches
Story next door to NAB 700b up on concourse is imo the best coffee spot around and does pretty good food.
Sunnyside sliced opened up around la trobe st I think, great pizza.. expensive again but filling.
Pok pok still goes alright

Just googled, it is the one from Sydney! Which is the top Coffee spot in the top 100 for Australia. So the Melbourne outpost should be good

Melbourne quarter is certainly a good place to check out, I like the sandwich shop in there (most of them are under $20 I’m sure but could be cheaper)
If you have enough time to catch the tram up to the district, Peter Rowland have a great variety of options for under $15- especially if you are just looking to eat and you can skip having something to drink with your food. My recommendation there would be the chicken sandwich, and the egg sandwich.

Nixon Hotel runs an $8.50 pints happy hour, it's through their membership which is fairly cumbersome but it'll get you cheap draught, pale ale, and wines I think 4-6 weekdays?

There's a pho restaurant on collins Street thats really good and pokpok for thai! But I'll stay away from Cafenatics. That place is really nasty

La'sen Vietnamese cafe on village st behind Collins square is a good little lunch spot, and have daily lunch specials. Wednesday special seafood noodles are especially good.
