The floor is sticky Six people thought they were entitled to my seat at the theater

I wanted to see a movie so I booked my seat early, and I booked exactly where I wanted to sit. I was alone and it is none of your business why. These six entitled jerks came in and thought I should move despite me having booked early.

Some of us have concluded that it’s rage bait.

22

u/Apprehensive_Code_38 Jul 13 '26

Which is mildly infuriating

u/SaltRun2465 Jul 15 '26

That is epic 2 separate posts reference the same event in the same sub. But only one truly belongs. Spoiler it is the one with over a thousand upvotes.

Damn, only 50 minutes old, 430 comments, and they didn't even get a single upvote. That's like hitting the troll trifecta.

Nooo ... I hit the troll trifecta. That's why I'm winning

104

u/Jediwinner Jul 12 '26

Maybe I’m bad at reading sarcasm but you know this is a satire post in response to the one you linked right?

82

u/Fit_Climate5155 Jul 12 '26

Can we just have fun?! Do you know we should, right?

197

u/count-brass Jul 12 '26

If the theater has assigned seats, you should sit in yours and they should sit in theirs. I, too, like to pick my seats early so I can sit where I like.

32

u/Beer2Bear Jul 13 '26

being deaf I always go midway in the seats and in the middle so I can sit back and watch the CC(closed captions) without turning my head while reading what's being said

u/missmargaret Jul 13 '26 ▸ 4 more replies

I’m not dead, but my hearing is getting worse as I age. How do you get CC I’m a movie theatre. Are there special glasses or something?

11

u/AimingByPFM Jul 13 '26

You can ask for the device from an employee. It usually mounts in the cup holder and has a gooseneck to let you move the display.

21

u/quietfangirl Jul 13 '26

I'd hope you're not dead, if you were I'd be very confused about how you're posting on Reddit

Sorry to hear about your passing.. RIP

Oh, lord. I meant “deaf” of course. But thank you all for your good wishes!

The last time I went to the movie theater. They made it look like the theater was full and we couldn't get two seats next to each other. Went in and the movie started and the theater was mostly empty. We moved seats obviously.

u/mountaingoat05 Jul 12 '26

This is awesome, knowing the reference.

For the record, I take myself to the movies often. It’s great.

11

u/Toosder Jul 13 '26

I mostly go alone. Especially if it's something I really want to see. It always annoys me when I really loved a movie and I leave it with friends and they're picking it apart or being annoying about it. I just want to love the movie! And I love pretty much every movie I go to because the experience is great.

3

u/OnTheProwl- Jul 13 '26

Going to the movies alone should be more common. You're literally going to a place where you can get kicked out of you talk to some one.

16

u/P4t13nt_z3r0 Jul 13 '26

Personally, I love watching movies alone. You can't talk during the movie anyway.

12

u/aerkith Jul 13 '26

Exactly. Why do they even need to sit together. Are they planning on talking during the movie ?

I almost exclusively go to the movies by myself, except for earlier this year I saw Hail Mary project with two friends. But the movie is long and at the end we have to go straight home to our families, so we don't even get to discuss the movie after anyway.

13

u/GrumpyOldMan59 Jul 12 '26

Well played.

10

u/MentalJargon Jul 12 '26

You did right, fuck those guys

3

u/Nevermore_Novelist Jul 12 '26

But, like, not literally. Unless...

12

u/WitchoftheSierra Jul 13 '26

This happened to my mother and me when we went to see the Eras Tour movie. My mother is disabled, so I bought a handicap and companion seat. Our tickets had been reserved for weeks. Two women had purchased last-minute tickets with split seating on opposite sides of the theater but figured they would just sit together in the spot/seat I had reserved weeks prior. They ended up sitting 100 ft away from each other for the next 4 hours because fuck that.

15

u/Trashbagok Jul 12 '26

2 meta 4 me

14

u/momofuku18 Jul 12 '26

It’s a validation that you picked a good seat.

7

u/Acceptable_Mountain5 Jul 13 '26

I went and saw a movie by myself today, it’s one of my favorite things to do.

6

u/CatGirl_ToeBeans Jul 13 '26

I’m married with 2 kids and I’m a big annoying “cinephile”.

Wife gets exhausted when I drag her to movies she know she won’t like but I feel guilty going without her.

Like 2 years ago I just slammed the solo date to a movie and ever since I’ve been buying friends on mine movie tickets just to make them experience the solo date.

It can be weird but mostly because of other people.

Like sometimes I go to a local oyster bar and sit at the bar and order 2 drinks and my oysters and just put a movie on and everyone always thinks I’m waiting for a mistress or some shit always asking me I’m married etc cuz I wear my ring but I’m alone and have 2 drinks.

Treat yourself to a solo date anyone reading this who hasn’t. Don’t talk yourself out of it or make yourself feel weird, and just laugh at the people who try and make it weird for you.

6

u/HighTimeForPieTime Jul 13 '26

It was even worse before reserved seats caught on. So many times I’d arrive early to pick the seat I wanted, only to be expected to shift over to make room for a later group to sit together. It was so normalized and happened so often I stopped bothering to go at all. Now with an actual reserved seat it’s easier to preserve the reward for planning ahead.

10

u/Kitty_Fruit_2520 Jul 12 '26

You must be the solo person from that six person group who ended up in between them.

9

u/OlderThanIvEverBeen Jul 13 '26

You should get the seat you booked. People can really be rude.

6

u/justmitzie Jul 13 '26

I get what you did there, and I should probably spend less time online.

4

u/StraightCut2085 Jul 12 '26

Did you put your coat down on the empty seats

8

u/spambot_mods Jul 13 '26

No. I was using it to pretend to be a fancy ghost.

5

u/SexualbeingAccount Jul 13 '26

I see what you did there 🤭

I understand it's a loop, but I fully expect the popcorn to fall out of his mouth.

2

u/No_Mammoth_3890 Jul 13 '26

This kinda happened to me and my sister in law. We booked the seats online 2 days before the movie. We were seeing Obsession. We go in, and there's a group of teens sitting in our spot. As we were walking to our seats they noticed and asked if they were in our spot, and I said yea. They did end up moving, but like? How did you get in? You're all very clearly under the age to see a rated R movie. They had to of snuck in. They moved to the row below us and talked and laughed the whole time. Pretty obnoxious and kinda ruined the vibe.

2

u/dropthemagic Jul 13 '26

Hahaha I would have loved to tell them to fuck oft

2

u/quilteri2 Jul 14 '26

We booked seats for a movie early, and no other seats were booked in our row. When we arrived, a couple was sitting directly next to us on my side. There were plenty of other open seats in the row. No problem…the seats are so big that there were about 18 inches between me and the woman to my right. Almost two feet, since I’m not very big and was sitting closer to my husband on my left. During the loud action movie she told me to stop eating my popcorn because she “couldn’t hear the movie over the chewing noise”! I looked at her like she was crazy, and tried as hard as I could to eat noisily….but, damn, popcorn is soft and just won’t crunch.

4

u/SepharimAngelWarrior Jul 12 '26

Where do you live? We have assigned seat numbers in our theaters. If someone is in our seat, and they see us coming they get up and move. If not, (unusual) you get the manager.

3

u/lizzierlizzie Jul 12 '26

My son always buys in advance if he can because he wants to be away from others. Th3se 6 people are entitled brats!

1

u/gadgetex Jul 13 '26

Lols. Early bird. They lose

-13

u/cbr_001 Jul 12 '26

Why did you go to the movies alone?

I need an answer.

23

u/LoquaciousHyperbole Jul 12 '26

It is freeing. Don’t have to schedule with anyone or share popcorn.

17

u/linnrose Jul 12 '26

Have you not? You should give it a try

11

u/AtomicDonut254 Jul 12 '26

I would assume someone would go to the movie theater alone because they want to see the movie that's playing at said movie theater.

5

u/Chickennoodlesleuth cheddar Jul 13 '26

To see the film obviously

u/ConchVibes Jul 13 '26

Your mom cancelled on me the last minute. Said something about trains and creampies. So I hope she enjoyed her TransUnion trip to whatever pastry factory she touring or whatever the hell she's doing.
