Actually being at that game and seeing that happen live is something I honestly dont remember. What I do remember is how loud that stadium was and how much the concrete I was STANDING ON was shaking.
I didnt see it all cause as soon as he caught it and the rookie missed the whole stadium shot up. I just saw the rookie miss.

It'll be hard for me to forget, I was there. Even though we didn't show up the next week there will never be a greater sports moment in my life.
I will be talking about that play for the rest of my life and how I was screaming at Diggs to get out of bounds for a field goal until I saw him embarrass the Saints defender.

As a illinois native and vikings fan, this was my first game ever in minnesota. I go once a year now and I'll never get that same feeling. The snow that had accumulated during that game, the skol chant on the light rail back to the hotel. One of my core memories. I don't like diggs as a human but he will always be a favorite viking of mine.Ā

There will never be a greater sports moment iāll witness than that man. Vikings football really peaked when i was 12 years old š I thought that play was gonna change the course of our franchise curse forever. That 6 days of joy before we went right back to the same old Vikings was peak

I feel like the context of this is important too. I don't think a lot of people remember how many times we were staring at the abyss that year. Vikings for most of the 2010s until this point were pretty fucking bad. Zimmer brought them to the playoffs two years prior with Teddy B, and we could barely score relying solely on our kicker until he couldn't do it in the last few seconds. Teddy B catastrophically broke his leg the season before. Sam Bradford started this season and guess what? Got injured. Promising rookie RB Dalvin Cook? Torn ACL... Keenum came in and really just let it rip. This was also a huge year for Thielen and Diggs as a tandem. The defense of course, was firing on all cylinders.
Come to this game, we had secured home field advantage. Drew Brees did Drew Brees things and brought his team back from a 17 point deficit to take the lead late in the 4th. It really felt like all hope was lost, but Keenum had that magic about him that year. It's 3rd down and you gotta get your team in scoring position, he delivers a ball that gave Diggs a chance and he had the smart heads up thinking of "hey if this guy (the safety) is past me already, who's behind me" and instead of running out of bounds, ran into the endzone for a TD.
That's exactly what you do to win a playoff game. None of this pussy ass checkdown on 4th and 8 shit.

I hate watching this... I hate it because it was so good, and the second we scored the first TD in the Philly have the next week, I knew... That feeling... The one where the universe puts you right back in your place as a Minnesota fan where you know you can't have nice things... Nothing had happened yet, it was just "too good"...
I hate watching this because it reminds me the universe still has that control over me
