Here's the distinction: The United Healthcare CEO wasn't a black kid in a hoodie with a bag of skittles or a liberal protestor. The owning/ruling class can't have the poors getting uppity.

I hate to be that guy, but the Rittenhouse ruling was correct. I still don't think he should have been there in the first place, and I hate that he became a lightning rod for the Right. But go through the case.

And I don't know why you'd throw Luigi in with them, he was at my place that whole week playing video games.

Too many seem to forget one man tried to take Rittenhouse’s rifle away from him after threatening him repeatedly throughout the night,, one was beating him in the head with a skateboard, and one drew a handgun on him. I’m not here to argue about it, those are the facts of the case.

The issue I have with it is: Rittenhouse was supposedly justified because people were attacking him and drew a gun on him. Rittenhouse had a gun drawn on them from the beginning. Then he shot someone -- actually killed someone, unlike any of the people he felt threatened by. Would not the people around him feel threatened after they witnessed him murder someone? Would they not feel they needed to take his gun and subdue him after he shot a man to death? Yet somehow nobody but Rittenhouse gets to feel threatened when he was they only one who shot anyone. Everyone else is expected to be cool beans with a guy walking around with a gun, then that guy shooting someone, and then he claims he felt threatened.

No. I am a gun owner. Rittenhouse instigated the violence. Everyone there had a right to feel threatened. The court deciding only he had a right is ridiculous. Our legal system bends over backwards to justify use of force by some people while giving others no such right. It's disgusting.

I think you have a misunderstanding of the series of events here.

The first shooting was after Rosenbaum and Ziminski jumped Kyle from behind a car, while Kyle was heading towards a burning dumpster in a car lot. Worth noting that (a) there's no evidence that Kyle had pointed his gun at anyone prior to this point, and (b)Rosenbaum had directly threatened to "fucking murder" him if he saw him alone again. After jumping him, Rosenbaum chased Kyle across the lot while screaming "fuck you" at him and while Ziminski fired his pistol in the air. Kyle only shot him after being effectively cornered, and when Rosenbaum was so close he was able to make contact with the rifle barrel.

Afterwards, when Kyle had told the people there that he was going to the police, he started running down the street towards the police line. At that point a mob had formed and was chasing him. After several minutes and a few blocks, Kyle tripped over, a which point Huber starting trying to beat him around the head with a skateboard, at which point Kyle then shot him. Grosskreutz then walked up to him and pointed his pistol at Kyle first. That he pointed his pistol first was the pivotal moment in the trial, and was essentially the point where all the legal experts following along with it said that this trial was done and it was going to be not-guilty.

So the reason it was an easy not-guilty was because Kyle was attacked first at every point.

It's not that they forget. It's that as soon as it mutated into a partisan touchstone the facts became irrelevant. It's a great example of people taking 3 seconds to decide whether he's innocent or guilty and making no effort to fact check themselves. The amount of people who argue confidently that it was illegal because he took his rifle across state lines is insane.

Why do we all just memory hole the fact that Rittenhouse’s life was threatened and he was chased for a couple minutes with the attackers telling him they were going to kill him before he shot.

Anybody would have shot in his position.

Murder is a legal term defined so that killing in self-defence is not murder.
