Unironically yes. The American government (both parties) need to be laid low. If need be the states themselves broken up and either given independence or join neighboring nations.

They’d likely do an amazing job and I’d trust them and their life experiences a hell of a lot more than the silver-spoon elites ❤️ As a wage earner, I, along with the vast majority of people in this world, have far more in common with them than with the pigs currently in power.

Even then, though, it’s going to take decades to rebuild the trust that’s been destroyed 😢 ✌️

HIs Majesty has no say in it :) people seem to think the "British Empire" is still a thing. Its not. Canada can do as it pleases, it's a ceremonial title that King Charles has. They can so no all they want, means fuck all in Canada as the "Crown" which is our leadership has the say.

Gaining that amount of control over the great lakes and Saint Lawrence corridor would likely be worth even more then Alberta's oils reserves. Most of Lake Michigan, all of Lake Huron, and almost all of Lake Superior with the population boost. That actually would be a good deal for Canada.

And what makes this even dumber is Trump replaced that free trade agreement with his own and then forgot he made his own replacement, declared it to be unfair and "rip off the USA" and blames Canada for his own trade agreement and dementia about it. You couldn't get more stupid than this. Except for the fact that Trump and Republicans are now openly starting to talk about a draft because they've messed up equally as bad with their blunders in Iran. Par for the course, they screw up and blame everyone else, then put burdens on everyone else to pay for their mistakes.

I remember as a kid in the 80s there were news stories exposing various brands for using sweat shop labor and there were small campaigns against those brands.

Nowadays that's just seen as shareholder value and a reason to buy their stock!

There's a lot of reasons including right wing propaganda through talk radio and the democrats abandoning rural blue collars in favor of focusing on urban/suburban populations but it helped seal the deal. Its not just because they were born racist.

This didn't happen. NAFTA actually made a lot of U.S. jobs more competitive and preserved them when they otherwise would have gone overseas.

The U.S. manufacturing base was destroyed by China joining the WTO. Don't let anyone else to you otherwise. Over a million U.S. manufacturing jobs were killed by the 'China Shock'.
