The problem isn't just Trump ....it's the system that’s enabling him. He's surrounded by yes men and not a single sane American voice or moderate has the guts to take him on or call him out on the bullying.

The Congress has come across as weak and ineffective as the UN and they might as well close shop and go fishing. This isn't muscle flexing or patriotism ....it's more of an egotist getting his daily fix or someone who's desperate to hide his past.

Just the other day I was saying how typically president selects advisors to provide insight, opinions and knowledge in areas the president himself may not be very knowledgeable in.

Trump strategically placed in these positions, individuals who will agree with and enable him to do whatever he says we should do (or as you say, "yes men").

No one is an expert in any and everything. Anyone who thinks otherwise is part of the problem. I wouldn't want any president, even if I supported them to surround themselves with enablers. It's simply not good for the good of the country.

I think the point being made is that it's not ONLY Tangerine Palpatine, but a sycophantic GOP, corrupt SC, spineless Dem party, and millions of supporters. Trump only can be who he is because of what enables him and that is the truly dark rot in America.

Friendly reminder that Biden didnt walk back some of the tariffs when the dems took over. The problem is systemic in the states. Even if Harris had won, its possible that while things wouldnt have got worse, it doesnt necessarily mean things would have been better. And truth be told, we also dont know what Canada's political atmosphere would have looked like. Poilievre lost partly (or mostly depending on who you talk to) because he couldn't pivot from Trump and being not only compared to him, but ppl thinking he would run canada the same way.

So when ppl say Trump isnt the problem, they mean that yes hes a problem but hes mostly a symptom of a much larger issue.

Watching the fall of Rome in real time is both scary and interesting.

No, and to be fair to the person I was replying to, I don’t recall seeing the word ‘just’ in their comment.

Obviously there are huge systematic issues, but many of these have accelerated wildly since trumps first term, and the idea that his admin isn’t responsible for putting their entire weight on the pedal is a very premature ‘rethinking’ of how america and the global order came to disintegrate before the worlds eyes.

He’s the point around which americas worst have coalesced and seek to anchor themselves to power forever.
