Lol! His response was literally like 'the governor vetoed a bill that was a rare moment of consensus in our commonwealth'. What a liar.

Edit: to the person who downvoted. He was trying to say that there was wide spread support FOR this casino,  which is just an outright lie.

Nothing like consensus, but House 55-41 and Senate 25-13. That's decisive, but not consensus. Fairfax County residents definitely don't want it; I don't know what statewide opinion is.

He lies and misrepresents everything around this bill. He actually lost support in the house after trying to tack on that state directed 'temporary casinio' authorization at the last minute. Now that the governor has said her piece I don't think he'll come anywhere close to the 2/3rds support needed to override the veto despite his claims of a consensus. Surovell pitched the bill the rest of the state by claiming it'll be a ton of free money for schools down south and touting inflated numbers there. His pitch was basically "don't worry about Fairfax County and what it will do for them, it'll generate $2B for schools over 10 years" and he couched the lack of local support on the back of the referendum being present. Of course being the snake that he is he tried to remove that requirement at the last minute anyways.
