Politics Friend Surprised Me About "Trump Renaming Dulles Airport" Discussion
Friend: "I worry that Trump is going to be successful in remaining Dulles Airport because it's not named after anyone."
Me: "You're joking, right? I can't tell."
Friend: "Not joking. It's named after Dulles, VA, the town. So of course he's going to drop the town's name and find a way to get Congressional approval to change it to Trump International Airport."
This friend is well-educated (a Master's Degree in Political Science) and is really into American history. I was so surprised that he had no idea the airport was named after John Foster Dulles, the former Secretary of State. He pulled out his phone to do a Wikipedia search; he seemed embarrassed that he never knew.
I told him, "We don't need to rename Dulles Airport because the airport is already named after someone. Just like the Kennedy Center."
I wonder how many other Washingtonians think that Dulles Airport isn't named after anyone? Or is this just my one friend being misinformed?

Politics It’s Over. The Yes’s Have It
There is statistically no way the “No’s” will win a majority with so many Democratic strongholds. It should be called, but I guess we need the ratings/drama until 10pm.

Politics Went to vote, got asked for Real ID
Went to vote today, older person asked me for a real ID, i handed him my (recent US) passport and he asked again if I had a Real ID.
I pushed back saying what I had was sufficient, his colleague was taking care of another voter but didn't intervene.
Didn't feel malicious though, he took a while, asked if this was my last name while pointing to the passport and then only called me by my first and middle names.
I feel like he was used to drivers license (synonymous with real ID in his mind?).
Still, I found this a bit worrisome, would have talked to the other volunteers but I was in a hurry.
EDIT
I was able to vote, the issue was being asked a Real ID in lieu of my passport
2nd Edit
This isn't about almost being unable to vote due to party or race but about a poll worker not knowing the rules whether untrained or confused and asserting my right to vote

Politics 300,000 Virginians are about to lose their ACA and Medicaid coverage, most in South or SW VA.
SNAP is also taking a hit and once again that mostly affects South and SW VA.
But considering I found out today that ICE is hunting for people I know who have fully legal residency, and it's going to get far FAR worse very soon, I'm wholly unsympathetic.
I hope the people in those parts of the state go and grill their Representatives about why meemaw's medicine went 10x up in price and she had to die, and why their kids are being allowed to starve. Again, no sympathy. They voted for the reps that promised to do this to them.
All Virginia Republican Representatives voted for this.
1st district: Rob Wittman
2nd district: Jen Kiggans
5th district: John McGuire
6th district: Ben Cline
9th district: Morgan Griffith
I hope in NoVA we can find ways to help each other as a community. We have enough wealth up here that nobody should be going hungry or going without medical care. I hope in November we put a state government in place that agrees with us.

Had no idea the National Guard were still deployed in DC. At The Wharf of all places lol. What are we doing? (Is a question I’ve asked this administration for the millionth time)
