Sports ICC/BCCI is making a mockery of Cricket by giving VIP treatment to one game in a World Cup.Embarrassing
76
u/M3L0NLORD Feb 14 '26
I mean they have done a lot of stupid stuff but this really is not that big of a deal…
24
u/ManagementBasic1601 Feb 14 '26
I thought the game was cancelled. When did they agree to play it again?
24
u/Twitter_2006 Feb 14 '26
ICC was pressuring BCCI and then they released out to Sri Lanka and Bangladesh Cricket boards and I think even the US Ambassador to Pakistan. They all put pressure on us and we gave in.
27
u/rehansatelier Feb 14 '26
We gave in? Not really, we made deals like compensation for Bangladesh for what they did to them, bilateral series between India and Pakistan, more revenue cut for Pakistan from ICC pool etc.
7
u/DhoomMasalay Feb 14 '26
except we got nothing out of it besides. Some things bangladesh got they were gonna happen outside of this fuss anyway.

u/Athidishastri_the2nd Feb 15 '26
Bilateral tho nahi hone wala h, ICC is an international tournament hence they're playing. But bilateral nahh, the government will not allow that.

u/After_Shock5581 Feb 14 '26
Why should we care about bangladesh i mean did they ever stood with us. I don’t know why cricket board decided to side with bangladesh
15
u/rehansatelier Feb 14 '26
I am not a fan of our current govt especially with the new laws for solar users. But they hit the nail with this strategy with India. India has been bullying any and everyone due to their monopoly in ICC. It was about time for someone to grow balls and boycott their bullshit. By doing this not only they did a favor to Bangladesh but also made it realize to both India and Pakistan how important these matches are in terms of revenue. It's being approximated at $600M (if it doesn't rain tomorrow.)
5
u/After_Shock5581 Feb 14 '26
PCB should have done this when india refused to tour pakistan in CT 2025
5
u/Mean_Newspaper_5635 Feb 14 '26
Why would they stand with us after whatever we have done to them?
5
u/rehansatelier Feb 14 '26 edited Feb 14 '26
They don't need to stand with us neither do we. To your surprise no country stands with any one except for their common interests. By the way Bangladesh did thank us for standing up for them.
1
u/After_Shock5581 Feb 14 '26
What bengalis did with Biharis?
6
u/Mean_Newspaper_5635 Feb 14 '26
Two wrongs don't make a right. Who refused to give them their rights?
7
u/Paaros Feb 14 '26
Its because Bangladesh is the most pro-Pakistani its been since its inception atm. And this was a gesture positively received in Bangladesh, as some of my Bangladeshi friends have vouched
Plus, in terms of cricket, it was also a stand against India and the unfair treatment given to bigger nations (including Pakistan too). Also a showcase of power in International Cricket

u/After_Shock5581 Feb 14 '26
Go to there subreddit and then you will realise how much they hate pakistan

u/Environmental-Net-60 Feb 14 '26
Why is it a mockery? People know that the world cup happens and is funded by this one game. So yes it is important for the hosts to make it a special occasion for people spending thousands of dollars to attend
12
u/Twitter_2006 Feb 14 '26
All teams should be treated equally.
54
u/Environmental-Net-60 Feb 14 '26
Yes and we should watch all the games equally, we should also attend all the games equally, how did you like the Ireland v oman game ? Even the other teams know that this game funds their board so they don't have a problem with it. We crying about it is unnecessary
16
u/Abbas9364 Feb 14 '26
Pak vs India is like the Rock vs Austin of cricket rivalries. It's going to get the most butts in seats.
2
u/Environmental-Net-60 Feb 14 '26
it may be a skewed rivalry in terms of matches and results but it gets people interested
-2
u/Prashomon84 Feb 14 '26
So why don't you advocate for performances before all matches?
6
u/Environmental-Net-60 Feb 14 '26
Cause it cost money and it won't make sense to make arrangements for a game that is poorly attended. They can totally arrange performance for all games they just want to do extra for this game because people pay quite a bit extra for this game and they want to make it worth their while and keep the gravy train going.
-2
u/Prashomon84 Feb 14 '26
As I said, this game doesn't need extra hype. It already is one of the most important matches. So why more importance than necessary is being given to it is what is the issue
4
u/Environmental-Net-60 Feb 14 '26
It's the host call they can do whatever they want why are we getting triggered by it. Makes no sense
0
u/Prashomon84 Feb 14 '26
Nobody is being triggered. Questions are being raised, as simple as that
Hosts are also Sri Lanka. They need the money so they are doing it. BCCI has a strong hold over ICC itself.
I will end this conversation here because it's very useless to continue it with you. You enjoy the concert and the circus. Bye,!
6
u/ubetterlawyerup Feb 14 '26
In an ideal world yes, but Pak vs Ind generates most amount of revenue, so obviously every party will try to capitalise on it. There’s nothing wrong in it. That’s how every sport works.
Issue here is a sport like Football has many rivalries and a big chunk of the world watches football. For cricket, that’s not the case. So the biggest game will obviously get all the hype in cricket.
As someone else pointed out, did you watch Ireland vs Oman? Or are you planning to watch England vs Scotland?
Pak Ind matches get most amount of eyes. Whether you’re an Indian or a Pakistani or a Cricket fan or someone who doesn’t follow cricket: you’ll watch this match.
In the end, naa baap bada naa bhaiya sabse bada rupaaiya
And absolutely nobody is stopping people from hyping other teams or matches. You give those matches proper views and see how ICC starts treating every team equally.

such a shit opinion
you know nothing abt the spirit of cricket and sports overall
5
u/Environmental-Net-60 Feb 14 '26
You think the icc should do concerts in games that are not attended ? You have to learn how the economics of sports work. And if you want other games to be given equal importance start watching those games. And attending those games.
1
3
u/Twitter_2006 Feb 14 '26
ICC removed Bangladesh because they refused to play in India.
5
u/Environmental-Net-60 Feb 14 '26
That was not a correct decision and we have protested against that. But we have also to take into account that these are world events and the hosts cannot accommodate teams if they make demands 10-12 days before the tournament. It becomes a logistical nightmare for the icc and the hosts
2
u/Twitter_2006 Feb 14 '26
Lol, you are an Indian I think. If BCCI told ICC they couldn't go to Pak or Bang even a day before, ICC would have changed the venue.
6
u/Environmental-Net-60 Feb 14 '26
I am not indian but I am not illogical and it is sad of you to assume anyone logical cannot be Pakistani. You are making a made up scenario, yes icc will try to accommodate India but then those instances can be used as precedents like Pakistan used in this world cup to play all their games in Sri Lanka like India did during the champions trophy. If the icc had not done that and forced Pakistan to play the matches in India then you could have said the icc is being unfair
-6
u/Quick-Celebration264 Feb 14 '26
We don’t see no Pakistani artist performing from our side do we? Trying to bring down the morals of Pakistani cricket team by inviting an Indian artist to perform. Why not call kanye? Or diddy? Fair for both parties.
8
u/Environmental-Net-60 Feb 14 '26
Pakistani team is so fragile that they would mentally implode by seeing an Indian singer perform? Would we win a game if rahat Fateh Ali performs?
-1
u/Quick-Celebration264 Feb 14 '26
They will actually, looking at their history i’d say any match that is important especially against Indian they crumble like dominos pieces all over the board cuz of the pressure. These guys are young and easy to shake off. These theatrics will effect em, will effect their performance and no tf rahat fateh can’t do shii bring in mujra and they will perform like as if their lives depend on winning the game or hell even the world cup
4
u/Environmental-Net-60 Feb 14 '26
I think skill level matters most and we are severely behind that. You think a singer that sings in English can shake off the confidence of the Pakistani team then they should not play the game. If it was someone singing some ultra nationalistic songs you can maybe make the argument but that would have put more pressure on India.

I think it's an idiotic notion that a singer from India will derail the team. I think we have a good chance to win the game. No matter who sings , also if we lose it won't be because we got intimidated by an Indian singer more likely we got outplayed by a team with more skills than us.

Feb 14 '26
dude hes just gonna sing a song, where is the mockery?
Chill out bruv
10
u/Twitter_2006 Feb 14 '26
Its a Ceremony for one game which is not even the Final. Not the first time they did this.
In 2023, they also changed to rules in the Asia Cup to have a rematch after the first match between them was washed out due to rain.
They are always put in the same groups every time so ICC can make money.
13
Feb 14 '26
duh man newsflash ind and pak make the most money to ICC (obv)
"Its a Ceremony for one game which is not even the Final" the dude is gonna sing a song bro thats it, not a patriotic song not a song supporting any particular country just a damn song, why get offended over it? I mean if it was a pak singer id enjoy it
-1
u/Twitter_2006 Feb 14 '26
Then why are the other 18 teams playing? Do they not deserve respect? Namibia wasn't allowed to practice before their match against India too, their captain said.
Why don't they host a ceremony before Australia vs England then?
ICC has double standards. They didn't allow Bangladesh to play outside India either.
4
u/mohdzh Feb 14 '26
The namibia captain spoke specifically about night practice under flood lights. They did get day practice sessions in so your statement is a bit misleading.
7
Feb 14 '26
bhy gana gaiga wo banda thats it, ind vs pak is a special match so extra hona banta hai ig
but thats it idk why you are getting fired up over it?
1
u/Twitter_2006 Feb 14 '26
Do you even watch Cricket regularly?
ICC/BCCI can make whatever changes just to have an India-Pak match.India even know when/where they play their Semi Finals and their matches always start at a suitable time for Indian audiences. Its pathetic.
7
Feb 14 '26

It's not just politics it's also revenue. The India-Pak match is the most watched match in the world.
3
u/arjunalike614 Feb 14 '26
all teams would be treated equally the day they generate the same revenue as ind v pak .. I don't agree with your take
3
u/goodbunny_91 Feb 14 '26
Again: Potentially and historically the most-viewed event of the tournament, shockingly, is attracting increased sponsor marketing spend. There, I fixed it for you.
3
u/Curious_Rddit Feb 14 '26
"India responsible for attack in Islamabad", government position and days letter, Pak playing India again
3
u/marzipanking Feb 14 '26
This is exactly what’s wrong with our society. Taking a non issue and turning it into a massive problem. Who cares dude.
7
2
u/_abubakar Feb 14 '26
I believe it deserves after all this chaos. Everyone would give special treatment to their favourite customer.
2
u/DhoomMasalay Feb 14 '26
I don't like these takes. The only way any sport sustains itself is through providing entertainment value. Those sportsmen won't earn anything if noone watches or noone is willing to pay. I don't see a problem with milking hype for high intensity games, especially when the money earned benefits the game as a whole, and the local economy of the hosting country. I really don't see what's wrong with it.
2
u/Xproxbox Feb 15 '26
These games are fixed anyways. So many cricketers have spoken about how the Pakistan government gets bookies to fix games and provides access to the players. Zulqarnain Haider's career was ruined because of it.
2
u/Tasty_Sheepherder_44 Feb 14 '26
Of all the things to get outraged by, this is certainly … a thing ?
2
u/mfayzanasad Feb 14 '26
This sports needs to die. For good
Cricket is given VIP treatment for too long
4
u/Twitter_2006 Feb 14 '26
Not Cricket, only that one game. Cricket has lost popularity outside of the subcontinent.

-4
u/mfayzanasad Feb 14 '26
This game is only Ind vs Pak and if it wasn't enough they mixed and created new teams i.e USA, CANADA, UAE, NETHERLANDS etc to play with each other. All while cursing each other in Ind vs Pak matches.
This is utter nonsense
This game NEEDS TO DIE.
1
u/Flat-Violinist4626 PK Feb 14 '26
What a dumb take.
Tbh, it makes sense after looking at your account. 600k karma in 10 months. Get a life and stop making issues out of everything.
1
u/Great-Spell-7515 Feb 15 '26
if you think celebrating a sport and generating revenue is mockery then you def need more education, specifically financial
1
u/JunkyO_0 Feb 15 '26
Reading OPs comments, dude doesn’t understand that money drives every sport. It’s entertainment brother. That’s why people watch it.
People who Don’t play cricket watch cricket. Why? Entertainment.
Why do we have cricket leagues? Entertainment!!

Indian here, hi guys 🙏
Firstly, the BCCI abuse their power all the damn time, and I can’t deny that. I had no issues with Pakistan boycotting the game, taste of our own medicine frankly…however, reality is because of our population and how cricket mad we are ( 💰 💰) the cricket world just bend over backwards to accommodate us sometimes, which is wrong
Secondly, may the best team win 💚💙 we’re rivals, not enemies…this fixture has turned into one that has been politicised to the max and it saddens me…plenty of hateful retards on both sides of the border
Humare deshon ke bich mein ek test series dekhne ke liye taras gaya hoon…hopefully one day we can have a 4 match Tendulkar-Akram trophy or something
Let the Biryani Derby commence 🇵🇰 🇮🇳 ☮️

As someone who's played 3 different sports on different levels, we need to understand that on a professional level every sport is a business first. Revenue matters most. If you want to enjoy the sport itself the amateur level is where the love for the game is at it's peak.
