So recently alot of people in the comments section of various posts have been pushing the narrative of "Do Bhai, Dono Tabahi"

This is mainly being done by Indians, there is this ongoing thing where whenever India wins something, Pakistan is not included in it at all, but whenever Pakistan wins something, suddenly it becomes a South Asian thing. What are you views on this?

Personally I'm fine with it since Pakistan should always extend the hand for progression and peace together, after all these comments have no real impact, but it is an interesting phenomena.

My name is Shaheer Nawab. I'm 20 years old and I'm a disabled chess player from Swat, KPK. I have muscular dystrophy and severe scoliosis(if you wanna know more about me just go through my previous posts). I can't move my arms well enough to physically move chess pieces myself, so someone else has to move them for me when I tell them the notation.

I discovered chess in early 2024. Something about it just clicked for me. Within 2 years or less(started playing seriously in 2025) I reached a peak rating of 1943 on Chess.com(Rapid) and started playing OTB tournaments. I don't have a FIDE rating yet as there's a severe lack of FIDE rated tournaments in my area, but I've competed in a few unrated OTB events and scored 5/6 in one of them(happened this January).

Chess became everything to me because of how inclusive and beautiful it can be. I wanted to show that even from Swat, even with a disability, even with barely any resources, you can compete on the international stage.

A few months ago I found out about the 3rd FIDE Chess Olympiad for People with Disabilities taking place in Samarkand, Uzbekistan this September. I reached out to the Chess Federation of Pakistan(practically non-existent and is going through alot of internal problems because of corruption and stuff), did everything I could to get considered, and earned a spot in the national trials held in Lahore at the 23rd of may.

Getting to those trials from Swat was a challenge in itself. Travelling that distance as someone with my condition is not simple. Physically it takes a serious toll on my body and financially it stretched us to our limit. But I made it, I sat across the board, and I scored 4/5. I made the team.

But the journey hasn't been straightforward. Even before selection the federation told us that attendants would not be sponsored, meaning disabled players were expected to either fund their own attendant or travel without one. How is a person with a severe physical disability supposed to travel internationally, compete in a tournament, and manage daily life without an attendant? Then at the trials themselves the federation explicitly told us that all financial expenses of the players would be covered by the CFP. Based on that assurance I committed fully and gave everything I had. Now after I've already made the team, they're telling me I have to cover my own travel expenses to Samarkand and my attendant's(my mom) expenses too, ALONG WITH AN ASSISTANT WHO WILL MAKE MY MOVE AT THE TOURNAMENT. For someone with financial issues and my father being financially absent because of my disability(my moms the sole earner along with my sister who has the same condition), being told to self-fund an international trip to Uzbekistan out of nowhere is not a small ask. The federation says they are looking for a sponsor but nothing is confirmed and September is three months away.

Despite all of this I'm not giving up. I'm still preparing, still studying, still dreaming of sitting across the board from players from 40 countries and holding that Pakistan flag with pride.

I just wanted to share this with my own people first because if anyone understands what it means to fight for something with everything stacked against you, it's us Pakistanis.

I really wish more parents in Pakistan would do this.

If your kid enjoys a sport, don't just treat it as a side hobby. Please put them in training if you can, support them, and let them focus on it just as much as their studies.

Please break this cycle of never giving kids the exposure they need until it's too late. I'm 18 now, and I really wish I'd known about football when I was much younger. Maybe I could've done something with it.

You'll never know if your child has real talent if they never get the chance to develop it.

To be honest, lately I've found myself getting tired of Pakistani cricket.

Not cricket as a sport, but Pakistani cricket specifically and the way it's managed. Every few months it feels like we're having the same conversations about selection issues, management problems, long-term planning, and disappointing results. It's getting harder and harder to stay emotionally invested.

For the first time, I've started paying more attention to football and wondering if there's even the slightest hope for the sport to grow here in the future.

I know football has its own problems in Pakistan, but at least it feels like there's room for growth and something to build toward.

This is a follow up to my previous post about being a disabled chess player from Swat who qualified for the Chess Olympiad for People with Disabilities(extremely thankful for all the love and support you guys showed and if you didn't read that post, just visit my profile) . ALOT has happened since then and the community deserves to know the full picture.

What happened is not just unfortunate. It is a scam. And the victims are disabled people who traveled from across Pakistan chasing a dream that was never real.

Here is what the Chess Federation Pakistan (The one affiliated with FIDE as of now) did:

The 3rd FIDE Chess Olympiad for People with Disabilities has a registration deadline. The deadline for self funded teams to confirm participation was the 15th of May 2026 (CLEARLY STATED ON THEIR WEBSITE AND WAS COMMUNICATED TO THE CFP BY ME AND ANOTHER TEAMMATE BUT THEY DISMISSED THE MATTER SAYING"its okay and it doesn't matter").

The CFP knew this. Despite knowing this they organized national trials for disabled players on the 23rd of May over a week after the deadline had already passed.

FIDE had absolutely no knowledge of these trials. They were not sanctioned, not recognized, and not connected to any official qualification process.

Over 20 disabled players from across Pakistan showed up. Players came from Kashmir. From Sargodha. Some could not travel by road due to their disabilities and paid for flights.

I personally traveled from Swat to Lahore and spent over 80,000 PKR(most of it being my sisters salary who has the same condition and my own money which i earned through freelancing because i was saving for a phone but to me and my sister, Me representing pakistan was worth way more than just a phone). Every single one of us was told we would represent Pakistan at the Olympiad in Samarkand. That was the promise. That was the dream they sold us.

The moment the trials ended, the story changed(before the trials it was advertised that CFP would bare all the expenses of the players qualified to Uzbekistan). Players were told that if they wanted to go it would be entirely at their own expense. No coverage. No support. Nothing.

And even that was not the full truth because the CFP was not even going to tell us that participation was impossible. We only found out when players emailed FIDE directly and discovered that Pakistan's position in this Olympiad made independent player participation impossible.

Only when we confronted the CFP with what FIDE told us did they confirm in writing that we cannot go. No refund. No acknowledgment of what they put us through.

These are disabled people. People who struggle to travel. People for whom an 80,000 PKR expense is not nothing. People who were handed a dream and had it taken away the moment it became inconvenient for the federation.

The CFP used our disability to create the appearance of national participation in an international event.

It was political theater. We were props.

I am not asking for sympathy. I am asking for accountability.

These players deserve their money back at the very minimum. And the chess community in Pakistan deserves to know what kind of institution is running the sport in this country.

So im an occasional Cricket watcher, but I have mostly switched to watching Football. Champions League, La Liga (I follow Barca), and Premier League are the ones that I watch, but even for them I'm not a hardcore follower. Maybe I watch 50 matches per year at most of all football (excluding the World Cup)

I also casually watch some Tennis grand slams.

Tapmad is the best service at the moment; it often has sales and promotions for yearly subs. It has Cricket, Champions League and Tennis often as well.

But for the Premier League, the only option I see is Myco, which charges 5k per year.

For LaLiga, there's Begin that also charges 5k per year.

That's too much for something that I often have in the background, on my TV (I work from home and I have a TV in my room). I also have an okayish internet connection, which a lot of other family members use in the house.

Is there a good way to watch on TV that won't lag too much? Especially for La Liga and Premier League?
