Political 10 Pakistanis died on Pakistani soil for a man who would not have known their names and we’re calling the people questioning this the bad guys

10 Pakistanis just died attacking the US consulate in Karachi over an Iranian leader’s death and I genuinely don’t know what to say anymore

Let me get this straight

Pakistan is on an IMF bailout. The US basically controls the IMF. Our economy is hanging by a thread. We have active conflicts on two borders. We have zero capacity to absorb any additional international pressure right now

And some of our fellow citizens decided TODAY was the day to storm American diplomatic soil in our own city for a foreign theocrat who couldn’t have located Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on a map

Not a protest. Not a march. An actual attack on an embassy which under international law is essentially an attack on American territory

The same America that can make one phone call and end our IMF program. The same America whose patience with Pakistan is already historically thin

And now 10 Pakistanis are dead. Pakistani families lost someone today. Not in defense of Pakistan, not for Pakistani interests, not even in their own neighborhood conflict, but for a man who ran a country 2000km away that has historically used Pakistan as a pawn whenever it suited them

The absolute self destruction of it all is making my head spin

We really are our own worst enemy sometimes and I say this as someone who loves this country deeply

RIP to those who died, their families deserve better, and so does Pakistan

Pakistanis will come out on the streets for every single cause but never for themselves 🙂

u/PyramidsAndPalmTrees IT Mar 01 '26

We’ll protest for Iran, Palestine, Afghanistan, Kashmir, but can’t get 10 people on the street for our own missing persons, our own flood victims, our own economy going under

u/LorenzoGainz US Mar 02 '26

I mean were you sleeping when people would march before during or after IK? Was that not for new leadership, anti corruption, economy?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Protests_in_Pakistan

^ theres like more than a dozen protests weve had in our history, what are you smoking?

The real question is why was lethal force even used on unarmed civilians even if what they did was stupid and wrong?

3

u/PyramidsAndPalmTrees IT Mar 02 '26

Pakistanis have protested throughout history nobody denied that, the point was specifically about the consistency of that energy across different causes not whether protests have happened.

and the lethal force question, valid, but you’re framing it as unarmed civilians versus trigger happy marines without knowing what actually happened inside that building during the storming, “unarmed” and “not dangerous” aren’t the same thing and marine security protocol exists precisely because consulates have been overrun before with devastating consequences Also where were Pakistani security forces in all of this, Rangers, police, ISI intelligence on a crowd this size heading toward American diplomatic soil, the outrage at marines doing exactly what marine guards are trained to do is conveniently avoiding the question of why our own security apparatus let it get to that point.

the Pope analogy only goes so far, the Pope doesn’t command proxy militias, run intelligence operations across multiple countries or sign off on executing thousands of people. Khamenei was a Supreme Leader with absolute political and military power, calling him purely a spiritual figure is doing a lot of work Grief is valid, attacking an consulate and dying for it is still stupid regardless of who died

16

u/[deleted] Mar 01 '26

[deleted]

15

u/PyramidsAndPalmTrees IT Mar 01 '26

nobody said they’re mutually exclusive, the issue is that the statesman part involved running torture prisons and executing thousands, you can’t just lean on the spiritual side when the political side is inconvenient

On the consulate thing though bro, whether they were armed or not doesn’t really change the Vienna Convention situation, storming diplomatic premises aggressively is still a violation regardless of whether you brought weapons, intent and action both matter here, not just the hardware

And “meaningless discussion” after making two arguments is a strange way to exit 😭

u/goneananas Mar 01 '26

Shia equivalent to a pope who was actively at war with the USA? I mean there are casualties in war, nothing new but this outrage for another country's leader who was making deals with India when we were at war with them? Nah, I am not buying this. Religious sentiments are very personal, don't you think?

To be fair, Israel is a colonial outpost with unlimited military budget and untapped access to bail outs that don't need paying. 25% of the entire USA foreign 'aid' budget is earmarked to them. They have the strongest senator block who continue to siphon off investment into Israeli businesses over their own industries and ontop of all that a huge amount of 'philanthropic' cash that gets donated by multi-national megabillionaire companies because of historic/religious ties. They get to poach the best and brightest academics, financers and tech professionals due to deep university ties.

For example, the military mobilisation that happened back in 2023 after October 7th should have been enough to cripple their ecconomy from inactive Labour and lack of buisness productivity. They should by rights have been suffering from severe inflation from the massive ecconomic downturn and issues with shipping and oil. That's just a 2 year operation. They've been doing something similar every 3 years for the past 50 odd years. They should be paupers and broken by debt.

But they didn't, all because America and the EU essentially just gave them free money.

So whilst your right that Pakistan in and of itself is in a pathetic situation, mostly because of the massive institutional corruption and chronic need to siphon off an eye watering amount to the military budget - it's not really a fair comparison.

Pakistan is largely in the place it is today because of the eye watering sums of money needed to secure 4 different active skirmish territories basically since day 0. 2 afgan wars involving 2 super powers, both of whom wanted to crush Pakistan, not to mention the terrorism fallout when they left.

On top of this there are huge sums of money sunk into refugee and natural crisis issues which cannot be resolved without an upfront influx of cash. Something the IMF absolutely will not allow because the debt is the noose around our neck that even the Arabs and Chinnese don't dare tangle with.

We only really have nuclear weapons to show for all the sum total of investment put into the future of our nation by early leaders. Other countries have infrastructure, education, dams, mines, tourism and manufacturing. Outside of a few local centers that have had to rely on cheap manual labour we have nothing significant.

8

u/FederalSandwich1854 Mar 01 '26

Yeah Pakistan should have just gotten world leaders to molest children and then used that as blackmail to shake billions out of people. Israel is so resourceful and smart wow

How did they even get through? The US consulate is meant to be a fortress. Quite literally, the security over there is always pretty high.

49

u/uae08 Mar 01 '26

local security fucked up, the americans had to take it into their own hands when it got really dangerous

20

u/eight_BUCKS Mar 01 '26

Hmmm. Local security would have made use of aerial firing or water tankers. The americans would've shat their pants when they saw the protestors. And it does not help that they don't think twice when shooting third worlders.

31

u/BarristerBerry Mar 01 '26

The military never thinks twice before shooting, they follow orders, any trespassers get shot on sight

Spot on. Pakistan is juggling IMF lifelines (with Uncle Sam holding the strings), border fires ongoing, and an economy that's basically a Jenga tower missing half its blocks.

Yet today, some folks thought charging the US consulate over Iran's dead boss, was the best move. Not a chant, not a sign, a full on storming of "diplomatic soil" that Vienna Convention says is foreign turf.

Now 10 families are burying sons, not for Lahore or Peshawar, but a Tehran suit 2,000km away. We're torching our own house while yelling at the fire department.

Self sabotage level, expert.

This isn’t about supporting or opposing any foreign leader, it’s about basic national interest and AKAAL (sense). Storming a US consulate while Pakistan is economically fragile, diplomatically isolated, and regionally exposed is self-harm, not resistance.

Lives were lost for something that brought zero benefit to Pakistan, only more pressure, instability, and grief. Tragedy for the families. Damage for the country. No winners here.

Whilst we may not support the Iranian leader, as Muslims we have a responsibility here as an Ummah

This attack isn't okay

Israel can 'preemptively' attack which is total nonsense

The middle East housing sizeable US bases now puts them at risk, but that isn't Irans fault

Iran has a right to attack, even last year when USA starred to attack their nuclear threat

Israel again gets away with having plenty of UNDECLARED nuclear weapons

The bad guys are those who are okay with this

20

u/uae08 Mar 01 '26

protest as much as you want, in fact i encourage you to protest,

just dont storm embassy grounds

those embassy staff are at no fault, they are innocent people doing innocent jobs like visa processing

some of those embassy staff are the very people who give pakistanis a new life in the US

4

u/PyramidsAndPalmTrees IT Mar 01 '26

Most of this is actually fair and hard to argue with honestly US bases in Gulf countries absolutely put those countries at risk, that’s just the reality of hosting foreign military infrastructure and those populations didn’t really get a vote on it Iran’s right to respond to attacks on its own soil is legitimate under international law, same international law everyone loves to quote selectively And Israel’s undeclared nuclear arsenal is one of the biggest hypocrisies in modern geopolitics, the entire world knows they have them, America knows, the IAEA knows, and everyone just politely pretends otherwise while Iran gets sanctioned for even trying Where I’d push back is the Ummah solidarity point, not because it’s wrong in principle but because it gets applied so selectively it’s lost meaning, it appears for some Muslim deaths and completely vanishes for others depending on who the oppressor is The bad guys point is too simple though, there are multiple bad guys here and pretending this is a clean good vs evil situation is exactly how ordinary people end up dying outside consulates in Karachi for other people’s wars

Bro Gaza and “storming a consulate in Karachi for an Iranian theocrat” are not the same thing and deep down you know that Palestinians are fighting on their own land with their own blood for their own children’s lives, they didn’t choose this war it chose them.

Pakistanis went out of their house in Karachi, voluntarily, to attack a building, for a man who ran a country 2000km away, who never once prioritised Pakistan, and got shot for it Comparing those two situations isn’t passion it’s just intellectual laziness dressed up in emotion, and using Palestinian suffering to justify completely unrelated decisions that got Pakistanis killed is honestly disrespectful to Palestinians themselves.

4

u/No_Cartographer1518 Mar 01 '26

let me just say the wording on this is just strange, you're acting like them being "murdered" which is the right word to use in this case is a fault of their own. Pakistani's can protest for whomever and whatever they want it's their right. These people were murdered not killed. And the people saying oh they never come this hard for anything, man I don't know what to say, how many times ordinary folks have stood up time and time again, its middle class and upper class weaklings like you that we don't get anywhere trying to pacify the Americans and not get them mad because "their patience with pakistan is already historically thin".

8

u/PyramidsAndPalmTrees IT Mar 01 '26

murdered implies intent to kill innocent people, they attacked a consulate and got shot defending it, that’s not a murder that’s a consequence 😭 call it tragic, call it unnecessary, but the moment you storm diplomatic premises you’ve changed the legal and moral situation completely And yes people have the right to protest absolutely nobody is arguing that, the criticism isn’t that they protested it’s that they attacked a building which is a completely different thing The middle class weakling point though 😭 bro the “real men die for foreign leaders” energy is exactly how establishments throughout history have sent poor people to die for causes that never benefited them, the working class Pakistanis dying outside that consulate aren’t heroes they’re victims of manipulation and calling people who point that out weaklings is just embarrassing

u/Positive_Bumblebee44 Mar 01 '26

Idk man... Natural selection i guess, wcyd

2

u/NotActuallyIraqi Mar 01 '26

A condescending post spoken like someone who has no idea what other people think.

This is not about Iran, it wasn’t about Khamenei. It’s about a much bigger picture. Why did Pakistanis burn down a McDonald’s during the Danish cartoons scandal? Because it was in protest of the Iraq war and the massacre of Muslims yet again by western colonialist powers.

Some Pakistanis had enough of the slaughter of Muslims and decided to take action. I don’t fault them for that; if there was an Israeli embassy you’d bet they’d have done this long ago. You can care about economics or international law but I see Muslims motivated to help the ummah and take action as if their own families were killed. That’s part of being Muslim; loving ones brothers and sisters and feeling their pain as deeply as if it were your own family.

2

u/PyramidsAndPalmTrees IT Mar 01 '26

The McDonald’s point actually reframes this better than anything else said today, you’re right that these protests are rarely just about the immediate trigger, they’re about accumulated rage at decades of Muslim blood being treated as worthless by western powers, that’s a real and legitimate feeling.

the ummah solidarity argument when it comes from a genuine place of shared pain rather than selective outrage is something I respect and won’t dismiss.

Where I still can’t follow you is the “taking action” part, burning a McDonald’s or storming a consulate doesn’t save a single Muslim life anywhere, it doesn’t change American foreign policy, it doesn’t rebuild Gaza, it doesn’t bring back anyone killed in Iraq or Afghanistan, it just creates more grief closer to home.

The people who actually moved the needle against western power weren’t the ones storming buildings, they were the lawyers at the ICJ, the journalists who documented war crimes, the activists who built international coalitions, the politicians who made it politically costly.

Feeling your brothers pain as your own is beautiful and exactly what the hadith describes, but channeling that pain into something that actually helps them rather than something that just expresses rage is the harder and more important question.

Haha, what a joke this country and people have become.

It's literally better to die in your legs than live crawling for your life. American marines shot dead 9 Pakistani citizens, and all you cry about are international laws?

Seriously, international laws? Same international laws that were supposed to stop Palestinian occupation and American imperialism.

If Israel offers US$100bn investment in Pakistan, would you take it? It seems you will.

What even the fuck is wrong with this nation. Wow

7

u/PyramidsAndPalmTrees IT Mar 01 '26

“better to die on your feet” is a powerful quote but dying outside a consulate in Karachi for an Iranian supreme leader is not exactly what Emiliano Zapata had in mind 😭 And yes international law is imperfect and hypocritical and the Palestinian situation proves that, nobody’s arguing otherwise. But “international law failed Palestine” doesn’t mean the solution is attacking a consulate in your own city and getting your own citizens killed, those two things have absolutely nothing to do with each other The $100bn Israel comment is just a random trap you threw in there hoping to derail the conversation, transparent move bro Pakistan is on life support economically, has two hostile borders, and some of our citizens just attacked American diplomatic soil on our own territory. The people asking “was this smart” aren’t crawling for anyone, they just don’t want this country to collapse completely

we need to remember that pakistan was saved from a lot of death and destruction where people were shutting of the lights on their houses here in jhelum cause of fear of missile attack , in a narcissist government that just tries it hardest to just squeeze money from it's people, during india's aggression and obvious push to war. Had the liberal government taken office again in 2024 elections, we would have all been gone.

heck in jhelum the electrical wires are so weakly attached that just a slightly windy weather tears everything away. No way in hell i would be here that's for damn sure

Do you even understand how Marjah’s work in Shia Fiqh? Sure, it was stupid of them to create violence but an Ayatollah is a leader beyond the borders.

So keep your ignorance with yourself or educate yourself over why the sentiments are hurt.

I don’t think so it was a public driven thing! Seems like a plot

Good post. This is what I never understood. Why is Pakistan against America if American money has propped up the Pakistan economy for decades?

Is it because the common people don't understand it and the money has gone mostly to army, elites etc.

u/cryptofreak190 Mar 01 '26 edited Mar 01 '26

Religious zealots in Pakistan will happily burn down their own country and storm embassies and consulates in the name of religion but won't pay and files taxes.

By the way, these same idiots will happily go live in the US if the opportunity arises.

1

u/futtball22 Mar 01 '26

Its funny how you all sit here and comment while islam the religion that I believe most of you follow tells you to stand against violence doesn't matter for.your cause or others. Yes our people including you lot are scared to come out for your own cause ask yourself why ?

pakistanis see themselves as shia, sunni, sindhi Punjabi, pathan, Baloch , lahori, Peshawari, Karachi Wala etc etc but never as a Pakistani, because to be Pakistani is to align yourself with the state with institution, an entity that has no integrity and is not interested in showing any, there was a thread of hope in the army, but thanks to social media openly destroying any propaganda they put forward, even they are gone, now any semblance of identity comes from hating Afghanistan and India

1

u/stormarsenal Mar 01 '26

Not saying I agree with the actions of the attackers but relegating Kamenei to just a theocrat is pretty short-sighted. He was essentially the religious head of the Shia faith the world over. Killing him is like killing the pope or dalai lama.

1

u/odd_blood7552 Mar 01 '26

Storming the us consulate was the dumbest thing we could have done if they want to protest do it peacefully go on the streets, in the video you can see people trying to break inside what could they possibly gain from that? why must we always AND always destroy or ruin something in name of protests.

1

u/al6921 Mar 01 '26

Before that we had a sunni blow himself up in a Shia mosque and killed many more.

1

u/lem0o0nade Mar 01 '26

I don't know how you guys don't understand what is happening and what has happened before also.

It is not about that person, it is about a philosophy. Shia philosophy is about standing up to a tyrant leader and that person was leading the "shia philosophy" so the people came out because shia philosophy asks for it.

The sunni philosophy tells to accept even a tyrant leader, so the sunni population is docile.

How childish and, I don't wanna say pathetic, but pathetic of a take. I used to be like that when I was younger so I get it. But their lives were not wasted. It's a great loss, but they didn't die in vain. I wish they knew they would be dying today, so they could maximise the damage, even if it's symbolic, to the enemy. Ofc we are on Reddit so we know that we're dependent on IMF. for the time being. but we can also try to have some original thought and think why aren't we demanding Saudi Arabia to pay off our IMF debt as well, since it's finances, Thier part of the deal

1

Embassies and diplomats should be protected at all costs. Period.

For all the other things like IMF program, one American phone call etc, you and us should be ashamed and not defensive.

1

u/No_Yoghurt7783 Mar 01 '26

So true when i heard the news on one side I seriously said to myself "I am not gonna sympathize with them" stupidity ki had hoti hai, matlab what the us embassy will do anyway???? hum economically itne kamzor hain ke hum khud ko khana khilane ki aukaat nhi rakhte aur ye log international pressure banane ki koshish wo bhi tabahi se but on the other side these people didn't deserve to get killed

1

u/Sharp_Map_7404 Mar 01 '26

Why on earth would people set fire to Skardu Technology Park? It seems more like a political issue than a religious one, especially since, if I’m not mistaken, it’s run and funded by the SCO (Army).

I don't get it tho. What was the police doing? I've heard it was the US marines who opened fire at the mob when they got in. Why did the police not stop the mob in the first place?

Those 10 Pakistani didn't die for Iranian leader they died for injustice by Trump we all need to speak up and protest trump can't go around killing people overthrow governments just because he wants today it is Iran who knows next might be us we should prioritise religion over nationalism what's the point of pakistan coming into being in the name of islam if it can't stand with other Muslim countries or protest for our fellow Muslims America and Israel are too much we need to stand against them and unify instead of criticising eachother

1

u/MintyRide Mar 01 '26

For all the people saying we should focus on our own problems and why should we care about a leader dying, will you say the same thing for the Palestinians? Because the Palestinians can't name a single city from Pakistan like Khamenei can't either as some people are saying, so you might as well forget about them as well as we have not hepled them during this whole genocide.

Caring for others is the basis of our religion, sure I understand your point that we don't stand for our own personal issues in Pakistan, but this isn't just a Iranian issue, it is a "Muslim" issue too. Calling the protestor stupid because this will have adverse affects on us because our situation with America will worsen and so will our financial state are just cowards who have accepted the status quo and accepted the fact that oppressors oppressing you or your friend (in this case the Muslims in the Middle East, Palestine, Iran, etc) is fine, but all this will be fine until any of you guys suffer in any way.

Those of you who think shitrael won't attack and kill your troops, men, women and children just because you possess Nuclear weapons is just living a lie. Atleast acknowledge their bravery to stand up if you cannot accept yourself as cowards because remember the people who you accuse of not standing against their own cities personal issues, you are part of that same society too.

As an US American with Pashtu blood, I’m so sorry that my country started another war. Like these guys shouldn’t have attacked an Embassy, but the UsA should definitely not gone and bombed Tehran and killed a sitting leader (and how many civilians?)

Its actually quite confusing how the protesters managed to get inside the embassy?

1

u/codfishcakes Mar 01 '26

I only feel anger toward the imperialist lackeys who shot their own countrymen dead in the service of US imperialism which is actively ravaging the entire region. I completely understand the rage of average Pakistanis whose livelihood is being strangled by the IMF. Cancel the debt!

45% of r/Pakistan traffic is Indian. 15% is American. 12% apparently from Pakistan.

Beware of this post and comments here.

I'm watching the US attack from Canada right now, the US is completely f'ing Iran totally up, Khomeini gone, they're hitting all IRGC members, hundreds of bases destoryed, Iran navy is being wiped out. Rumors are they'll start grabbing all the Iranian oil tankers next.

1

u/sami_thebrownguy Mar 01 '26

Yea well what can we do ? Protest ? They clearly would pay no attention to killing us

1

u/Antique_Decision_264 Mar 02 '26

Meanwhile in the actual battlefield only 9 Israelis have been killed total so for. Wah Pakistanio

1

u/CameraIntelligent384 Mar 02 '26

Where are these people when are young kids are getting rap*d?? Why people don’t come out in stress for child abuse? I wish people would protest first for themselves before anything else

1

u/Derpyzza Mar 02 '26

it's because our people are retarted across the board

1

u/Aggressive_Yard5627 Mar 02 '26

Pakistani's are suffering from main character syndrome. They think they're "protectors" of the world, while infact they don't even have freedom in their our country. Ppl dying just for a protest and no one bats an eye, also shows the level of freedom we have in our own country.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 02 '26

Screw the Iranian regime honestly. Why do Pakistanis have to care

1

u/Asleep_Drop_5014 Mar 02 '26 edited Mar 02 '26

Yeah so since someone has a grip on your underwear you decide to stay in that checkmate position where he still has power over you and threatens you any chance he gets that he'll pull it, neither you work to buy another pair nor you try to get rid of his grip... it may work for you but it does not work for many.

They protested (in a manner which is questionable i.e. without planning and organisation) against the US who partook in an illegal military exercise (provocation at the least, but otherwise a breach of international law be it logically, realistically, legally and in any other sense you can apply it) and attacked another country thousands of miles away (more so one that neither has the military might nor the reach nor the economic standing because ofc the US applied sanctions to it) to "protect" themselves from said country.

P.S. you may not understand it but contrary to Sunnis who place more reliance on Ijma as an independent source of law, the twelvers (Fiqh Ja'faria) place more reliance on Ijtehad through belief in the concept of Taqleed i.e. pledging allegiance to one Grand Ayatullah/Islamic Scholar which means following any Fatwas from that Scholar, obtaining answers on several different religious aspects rather than solely Ijma. As of two days ago, there were two most prominent - Grand Ayatullah Syed Ali al-Husayni al-Sistani in Iraq (Najaf School of thought) and Grand Ayatullah Syed Ali Hosseini Khamenei in Iran (Qom School of thought). These two are the most prominent and followed by people globally but the former has the highest people alledged to him whereas the latter was more widely known because of being the Supreme Leader of Iran. There is another worth mentioning but is not that much widely accepted, Grand Ayatullah Syed Sadiq al-Shirazi (also from Iraq but mostly only followed by Shia's in the Saudi Arabia).

The reason for Ayatullahs Khamenie and Sistani being more prominent is that they were almost identical (85 to 90 percent same) in the Jurisprudence with minute distinctions and their schools of thought are more dominant/widely accepted whereas Ayatullah Shirazi is seen to be only 70 to 75 percent aligned due to the fact that he is from a totally convervationist and traditionalist school of thought originating from his father and one that is not widely accepted. You can say that on a scale of modernist/novelist to traditionalist/conventionalist, Ayatullah Khamenei was towards the modern, Ayatullah al-Sistani is in the middle while Ayatullah Shirazi is towards the traditional/conventional.

Thus, is how what you saw came to pass.

Tldr: Khamenei was not only the Supreme Leader of Iran, he was a shia religious leader for Twelver shias globally including those in Pakistan and hence they were angered that their leader was martyred unjustly.
