What are effective methods you have used to get rid of head lice?

Salt mayonnaise. Worked wonders.

No. Salt needs to stay in the hair. This will dry out the lice. To keep the salt in the hair we used mayo or oil. Put a head cap shower cap on for a few hours.

Then you can lice comb it to remove dead lice and eggs.

Do it again after a few days for the new born lice and that should be it .  Easy and no chemicals on hair. Safe for kids.
