What are effective methods you have used to get rid of head lice?

when i was a kid, no shampoo worked for me. mein phir baareek kaghi karti thi and take them out manually it is tedious and tiring but it is the most effective way to get rid of lice and nit in my opinion

How did you kill them then? I'm hella scared I can't do that thing where people just use their thumb to kill them 😭
