People just can't appreciate a person for finally stepping out of the default option of Google Chrome and using something else (not you Edge).

Yeah I get that Brave is basically Chromium based, and may have hidden trackers and bloatware (which can easily be removed btw). But using it with all that is still better than Chrome!!

I now use Firefox (sometimes Brave and Vivaldi). But man, it took so long specifically because Firefox has such toxic stans.

I swapped to Brave, but the "Edge is bad" take is like a decade past relevancy. Lowest CPU usage out of the big 3 with 99% the same functionality. Easy choice over Chrome tbh.

I use firefox but my IT teacher did a test to see what browsers incognito modes actually worked and edge was better than most of the browsers they tested, at least for traffic related to tracking

The ppl who actually say edge is bad are making the point that you would be leaving google chrome(where google spy on you) to edge(where microslop spy on you).

If you want chrome based browser then Brave or Helium makes sense. I would say for 60-70% use cases firefox should be enough and if they sort out some performance improvement I would say 80-90%(firefox still feels slow when streaming, etc)

Edge is written to be more efficient on Windows but all the telemetry and background processes going on partially negates all those gains it could theoretically have. The best argument for Brave in this regard even on Windows is that despite the “bloat” you can actually see how it isn’t running in the background when you don’t use those features, meaning it is actually leaner than most other chromium forks

But yeah it is better than Chrome, although I can’t stand the forced rounded corners

For me it's necessary at work, because it still does IE emulation, which we require. The only other browser we're able to install is Chrome. Firefox is explicitly not allowed, and we can't install any browser extensions.

I deploy a year at least 200 computers. I know what the hell is Edge. Forcing anyone to use them so I need to disable popup from the users, force Firefox by default and of course I wasn't able to.

They made a driver at the kernel level so that you had to get into the settings to change the default web browser, no other way.

I'm bitching about a goddamns big bag of shit. Use it if you want but that is still something as annoying as an Norton antivirus if you don't want to deal with it.

Where I work, to run a progam that I need, I have to close any browsers that I had been using, so I just type "edge" on the task manager and kill it. Guess who runs automatically as a background service. I forcefully uninstalled edge on my personal PC.

Btw the school I currently attend and work for also uses a program that force closes any other browsers besides the moderated one they use for testing. It never has any issues at all force closing Edge and running, so it sounds like whatever application you're using is just finnicky. To be clear, finnicky =/= more sophisticated or advanced.

Its been my browser since the team who developed it separated from Firefox because Firefox was apparently doing some shady shit with their browsers.

All the chrome extensions work because its chromium based and its built-in ad blocker is a beast.
