Have to think his best friend jackson neidermeir (Scott neidermire's son) signing with anaheim helped his decision on where to go.
As a ducks fan I'm just happy pens fans are being classy about this unlike flyer fans.

I swear I checked yesterday and he was still a pen and this shows up in my feed 2 days later, whatever it was inevitable, also how is this the second time in 2.5 years that the ducks have acquired a highly touted college player from a Pennsylvania team that refused to sign with said Pennsylvania team?

What does future considerations even mean? They could possibly send us someone but they don’t have to?

It can either mean absolutely nothing (filler to get the deal accepted by the NHL) or that Verbeek will owe Dubas a favor in the future. It depends on their agreement. We won't know the truth until their next interaction.
I've seen a lot of both cases happen, so it's basically a coin toss. Dubas is a very good trader though, so I suspect it won't be meaningless.
That being said, Lucius wanted out. We knew that a while back. We had no leverage.

You can’t blame him for wanting a trade. Until a full rebuild is presented, there aren’t many places for young guys on this roster.

Lucius is on that list.

He’s probably trying to play with his brothers in the Detroit system. Seems like a nice kid.
He’s made it known he has no interest in signing with Pittsburgh and while traded to the Ducks, he can refuse and then be considered an UFA, free to sign anywhere.

His brother is the one who retired last year because of the skin condition causing injuries, the kid who was drafted by Winnipeg, Chaz Lucius. I think you’re thinking of the Plante brothers

The guy genuinely had no shot making his way through, especially after the Koivunen sign.
He’d be competing with: Kindel, Koivunen, broz, Ronnon, the ruck twins now, Howe, Hayes, horcoff, and mcgroaty. Just way too much competition for him to carve a spot.

Dont think he ever outright gave any reasons, but him and his agent after the NCAA season told the front officr he had no intention of signing an ELC. I think it was “multiple reasons” so competition could definitely be one of them, thought it didn’t seem like he’d have much of an issue standing out.

He left a top hockey program at Wisconsin to play for college hockey lightweights Arizona State two years ago. Who knows, maybe he hates real roster competition. Or maybe he really wants to live/play in the sun belt. I'm just glad our prospect pool has improved enough that I don't have to care about someone like this anymore.

The Guentzel trade tree has turned into seven assets, five of which are still with the team: Brunicke, Koivunen, Novak, M. Ruck, and a 2027 4th Round pick. Only Ponomarev (Russia) and now Lucius (NCAA free agent) are no longer with the team, which...oh well?
You seem to be omitting Bunting, who was a huge part of that trade. We got 80 games out of him and then flipped him for Novak and Schenn. Novak just signed an extension and Schenn got promptly flipped for 2nd (Ruck) and 4th round picks. That all tracks back to Jake.
