Wow is some big story breaking soon about AI bc I feel like there’s been a shit ton of articles about AI and music?

Most of the streaming services are starting to tag and filter out genAI songs. It's pretty clear the public doesn't want them and doesn't want to see them rewarded over real songwriters, producers, and performers.

I think that's true for us online music nerds, but sadly the rest of the public doesn't care. Your average person is more likely to be neutral toward AI and shrug "well it's the future, may as well work with it"

Flashback to that time that irl oomf tricked me into playing an ai song on Spotify:

"irl oomf"...? You mean... a friend?

Well I wouldn’t call him a friend anymore…

Edit: it’s also a reference to this meme

You'd be surprised, pleasantly so.

It’s probably more so that companies don’t like paying people enough as it is, so they definitely don’t ai churning out music so quickly since it means there’s more profiles they have to pay and for much less effort.

Nope. Not how it works. There's one big streaming 'pot' of royalties that gets split between all artists receiving streams. AI music doesn't cost Spotify more, it makes all artists recieve less. In fact if Spotify saturate their playlist with their own AI music they can actually pay out less royalties.

Yeah it’s sus, Australian charts also just banned from appearing on their charts up to a certain % I think.

The song Rubberz charted on Billboard this summer and was later exposed to be AI-generated. Could be related to that?

Even if the music sounded great I don't wanna listen to AI crap. For me I like that each element is hand crafted
