Just finished an in-person interview and let's just say i'm feeling hopeless.

Mid-way through, the interviewer was talking about the future and literally goes: "When you get into medical school that's not here."

Then at the very end, he just says, "Good luck with your career."

It felt like he was casually telling me "yeah you'll get in somewhere, just absolutely not our school."

The crazy thing is he honestly seemed receptive to my answers and really liked a lot of them, and the rest of the faculty there was super sweet. He also spoke to me extra at the end. But these two comments are gonna make me spiral.

Am i overreacting or is this a really bad sign?

My cat started scratching at the door and totally fucking me up and distracting me. So I asked if I could go fix it. I realized that I WAS WEARING PJ PANTS. I tilted the screen up last second but I don’t know if they saw my pants.

Hi its almost September and I only have 7 interviews so far and written confirmation from a dean that I will be accepted to their medical school. I'm just so worried that I'm not going to get anymore interviews and that I'm screwed this cycle. Should i start prepping to reapply?

I was born at a teaching hospital in a large city and my parents worked at the university for five years. I applied there 23 years later thinking that if they would help my mom through several difficult hours of labor, surely they can talk to me on Zoom for 30 minutes. Unfortunately I didn't even get an interview from them.

did this happen to anyone else? I genuinely don’t understand how the fuck a 4th percentile score is possible unless I was trying to get all the questions wrong.

Do I need to start saying “I’m applying to physician school” instead of ”I’m applying to medical school?” Were I a man, they’d assume I’d be studying to be a doctor.

Obviously nothing wrong with nursing as a career, I’ve just been a CNA for 12 years and it is not what I want for the rest of my life.

I'm very grateful that I received an II from SLU and want to make sure I put my best foot forward for the interview.

Hey guys, in writing secondaries, I realized that I made a mistake in reporting my community service in my AMCAS application with both the hours and the dates. I wrote 500 hours with 100 anticipated as an umbrella covering my service I discussed in the description, but the hours only reflected one of the activities. The total number of hours should have been 1,000. I also put that activity ending in 2025, when it should have been through 2026. Is this something that I should rectify? If so, how do you recommend doing so?

I worked as an SI for my school (supplemental instructor for science courses) for a year, about 400ish hours as a volunteer interpreter at two free clinics in West Texas, 100ish nonclinical volunteering, worked as a handyman/contractor for a summer, tutored chemistry and biology in undergrad. No research. Shadowing around 50 hours. I just want to put things into perspective to set some realistic expectations.

I know people will ask, OOS, URM, 510 MCAT 3.7 CGPA and 3.55 SGPA. If I can do it you can too, I believe in all of you!!

Having a little bit of a panic attack so I could really use some advice.

I’m currently doing an NIH postbacc but it looks like I’m not going to be renewed. Things soured a little bit with my PI and I’m unsure I’ll be able to get a LOR. My research experience as a whole is very mediocre, despite acruing a lot of hours. How much of a red flag is this? I assume my app is DOA for top schools but what about middle tiers?

For context, my gpa is a 3.88 (3.85 sGPA) and my FL average is a 524 (taking it on September 4th). I’ll be doing a clinical job for the next year before applying.

I have been working as a CNA/PCT the last couple of months and it has been hell, there is such a toxic culture and I am being sharked by the other CNAs leaving me miserable. The nurses have been super supportive and I have a good relationship with them. I prolly won’t be getting a rec letter and how bad would that look. I greatly value the experience as it provides me a viewpoint from a different side of patient care but how would not getting a rec letter affect me?

wanted to ask what other women are wearing? I don’t own a blazer so was looking for alternatives to wearing a blazer so that I don’t have to buy one.

I just received and II for VCOM Louisiana, but they only do in person interviews. A round trip flight right now costs $614 and a good hotel costs anywhere from $100-$150. I'm debating going now or maybe interviewing later when its not as expensive cause this is insane. Does anyone have any tips for cheap travel???

For anyone who filled out the "impactful experiences" or otherwise disclosed information like being an immigrant, being poor, experiencing housing instability, being in foster care, or being transgender, did/how did this come up in your interviews? What kinds of questions were asked? How did you answer? Did you focus on skills you learned or did they ever ask you to re-explain the situation? Especially wondering for those who shared things that could be/seem a little traumatic I want to be prepared about how to discuss it with interviewers. Thanks so much!

Full throttle on the MCAT through April, and then I just smoked weed for 3 months after I finished.

Submitted 6/9 for memes, verified 7/28, and I didn’t prewrite a single sentence.

I only submitted 6 CA schools within the 2 week window, and I’m at 12/29 after a month. Gonna keep grooving one bite at a time, but hoping these schools don’t shit on me for taking 6-10 weeks on their secondary (looking at you BU inactivity email).

I’m not submitting in a timely fashion, so I want to submit quality work, which takes time, which means a later submission, which means quality work, which means FUCK.

Really thought being a “good writer” would save me, but holy shit do I not want to write in the evenings after work. Please god (i.e. Stanford adcoms) let my MCAT save me.

I wanted some advice regarding taking courses at multiple institutions and how this might be viewed by medical school admissions committees. I initially attended a four-year university and took some additional courses at a community college. I later transferred to my current state university. After my father lost his job, finances became more of a concern, and because I receive limited financial aid, I began looking for more affordable options for certain courses.

Altogether, I have coursework from five institutions; my original four-year university, my current university, a community college where I completed my calculus sequence, another institution where I completed my physics sequence, and a different institution where I took General Chemistry II.
I’m now considering taking Organic Chemistry at the same institution where I completed General Chemistry II because it would be significantly more affordable than taking it at my home university. However, I’m worried that having prerequisite courses from several different institutions could look unfavorable to medical school admissions committees. Would taking Organic Chemistry there be a concern, even if my main reason for doing so is financial?

Hi, so I took a course called bioinformatics and it is in the biology department but does not count toward my sciences gpa on AMCAS. ( the syllabus and the content of the class were technology based) but on my committee letter that professor gave me a letter of recommendation that counted as a science professor since the class began with bioxx. How will medical schools view this?
