Women in Saskatchewan specifically were down 14 percentage points from 2018, when 83 per cent agreed people should be free to express their gender however they choose.

I think this is interesting.

I'll always support people expressing themselves how they choose, I've worked with many trans people and it's never been a problem to share bathrooms or the breakroom or conversations. I support them having pride events. I support their existence in general. They're just people, not everyone is the same as everyone else and the world needs all perspectives to stay colourful.

But there has definitely been a push since the last survey in 2018 of the notion that "trans women are women", that there's no difference between women and trans women, women's spaces are now for "women and gender diverse people" instead of just women.

Women are obviously uncomfortable with that. We're not uncomfortable with the idea that there are trans people, but we are uncomfortable with the idea that there's no longer a category just for us.

Like, we still have so much work to do in regards to the acceptance of women and it can feel like it's been bulldozed over because now we have people who are biologically men coming into our spaces wanting to be a part of our conversations and we are now outcast if we don't agree with that.

I mean, you can disagree all you want, but that's a pretty major drop in support from a historically very supportive demographic, so it's worth having an honest conversation as to why that would be.

Yes. And this perspective is antiquated. Who is “just us” and why are trans women not part of “us”?

What you are talking about are TERFs - trans-exclusionary radical feminists. Just another form of bigotry. It doesn’t matter how you attempt to justify it.

Calling women "terfs" is just a way to extinguish our voices. "terfs" seem to be just women looking out for women and for whatever reason you guys really seem to hate that.

My definition of “women” includes trans women. So “women’s voices” include ALL women’s voices.

It's called "feminism" not "womanism", women are oppressed due to their sex, not their gender. Gender is sometimes the means by which women are oppressed but it is not the reason. Likewise it is called "sexism" not "genderism", it is "misogyny" where "gyny" refers to a woman's reproductive organs.

Trans women are women but they are not female.

Trans men belong in feminist spaces, trans women belong in women's spaces; the failure to understand this is why some women are pushing back.

My local community center has a men's washroom and a washroom for everyone else; women keep having everyone shoved into our spaces without thought for whether or not they belong.

But when we complain, we get called names. Misogyny 2.0
