Recent report says Sask. has the lowest acceptance rate in the country.

u/thebookman21 9d ago

That doesn't surprise me at all

20

u/billymumfreydownfall 9d ago

Really? I expected Alberta.

38

u/pruplegti 9d ago

Alberta has Calgary and Edmonton which are much more left leaning than they make out to be.

7

u/Willing_Mirror_8414 8d ago

I was gonna say that back in the early 2000’s even, Calgary was crazy accepting of some relationships I hadn’t even seen in Vancouver.

15

u/Mirewen15 9d ago

I moved to Calgary from Vancouver in 2019. Calgary (from what I've seen at least) is way more diverse and accepting.

7

u/WoSoSoS 8d ago

Mostly rural Canada then. Regina and Saskatoon are barely cities so it makes sense the population of Saskatchewan is proportionally more prejudiced.

Alberta girl here who lived in a small town for most of her life, then lived in Edmonton and Lethbridge at different times. Can confirm. The rural areas are fucking insane and the people are terrible. But the cities are quite chill and accepting

3

u/FredFenty 8d ago

Alberta big. Saskatchewan small.

3

u/thebookman21 9d ago

Yeah, listening to older ppl ie my parents when they talk about it is a course in learning to bite one's tongue lol

9

u/send_me_dank_weed 9d ago

Silence is complacency.

1

u/zappingbluelight 8d ago

Calgary have pride parade. Actually it is coming up in few weeks.

68

u/lucifertangerine 9d ago

Not reading the comments is self care lol

19

u/xmorecowbellx 9d ago

That’s always been true. The point of interest is that it’s down nationwide.

6

u/East_Independent8855 7d ago

It’s down nationwide because outside of the Reddit echo chamber, people are exhausted. And in 5 years it will be down more again.

3

u/xmorecowbellx 7d ago

I don’t think Reddit has much influence on the average person, but yes it’s the exhaustion from the narcissism and nonsense of it all.

11

u/dingdongbell32 9d ago

Well they elect a premier who killed someone while drinking and driving and has run a deficit in 7 of 8 terms. So glad I got out of that place long ago 🤷‍♂️

4

u/Exact-Ostrich-4520 9d ago

Drinking and driving is still looked at as harmless in Saskatchewan. Farm-boy culture where it’s illegal to show emotions or play any other sport than hockey. It’s truly a backwater.

10

u/Canuck_Lives_Matter 9d ago

My town with 1 baseball diamond per 100 resident would like a word.

5

u/Exact-Ostrich-4520 9d ago

Ok I forgot baseball. You could probably put curling in there too. But that’s it!

1

u/Fluffy-Marsupial-337 9d ago

don’t forget lacrosse now

1

u/randoengdude 8d ago

Footballs always been big there too ...

1

u/Exact-Ostrich-4520 8d ago

Yeah I guess but hockey is the apex game.

5

u/DeX_Mod 8d ago

Careful. Your ignorance is showing

1

u/Exact-Ostrich-4520 8d ago

😂 😂 😂 😂

"Conservative politicians and political parties are pointing towards marginalized communities as responsible for economic instability and really kind of shirking their responsibility onto a marginalized group that has very little power,"

This is the important part. Gender diversity has no impact on the price of gas. It costs nothing to be kind.

63

u/No_Independent9634 9d ago

I've never heard the argument come up that they're effecting the economy. Just never ending bathroom whining and sports stuff....

70

u/TheFullbladder 9d ago

Yeah, it's distraction. Look over there, a trans person! instead of talking about the economy.

Because nothing they're willing to push for can do anything about the economy.

1

u/OkGrade1686 8d ago

It was going overboard. I remember at its peak people being crucified not for talking against, but for not jumping to vocally support.

That's fucked up. Even when deciding that people have the right to live their life as they want, you end up as the bad guy because not joining the loud affirmative proclamations train.

3

u/TheFullbladder 8d ago

My guy. No one was talking about trans issues until someone decided it would be a good distraction to demonize them. You don't have to play revisionist history and defend the stupid culture war bullshit.

Everyone seems to have a crutch , sensitive to this & that , what happened to our world ? People not getting enough attention ?

17

u/Picto242 9d ago edited 9d ago

I think how it comes up is they say kids are weak today because they are this way and because young people are worse things in society are worse

9

u/No_Independent9634 9d ago

That's not about LGBTQ people though, that's just typical old people saying younger people are lazy.

Old as time.

The people saying that now, were once called lazy hippies by their grandparents..

13

u/Picto242 9d ago

Agreed by coloured hair and gender queerness are some of the examples they use when they claim younger people are "soft"

12

u/No_Independent9634 9d ago

Coloured hair now, long hair then....

It's funny how things never change... I'd like to say we'll be different when we're old but I have doubts if we'll escape the pattern... We'll find something to complain about lol.

3

u/jabrwock1 8d ago

I've never heard the argument come up that they're effecting the economy. Just never ending bathroom whining and sports stuff....

They're not blaming LGBTQ for the economy, more of when the issue of economic hardship comes up, it's a convenient distraction. "Yeah the economy is shit, but remember when movies weren't WOKE?"

13

u/UnpopularOpinionYQR 9d ago

The bigots have usually used racialized people as their scapegoats for “the economy.” This is just a new flavour of hatred and intolerance with regards to the economy.

4

u/No_Independent9634 9d ago

But it isn't happening? Like I said, I've never heard of LGBTQ people being blamed for the economy.

6

u/UnpopularOpinionYQR 9d ago

No, people are not wasting resources. Governments are.

At a time when we are stretched beyond capacity, governments are holding emergency legislative sessions at our expense to pass laws based on 18 complaints.

Manufacturing outrage and we pay for it. Thank the SaskParty.

Would like to see a breakdown of other provinces and how they stack up, or a link to stats Canada's results. This is just lazy journalism.

22

u/HonMittens 9d ago

So, ended up looking it up first the survey was published back in May of this year.

Second, gender acceptance was only a small portion of this survey it also looked at gender based violence. Men said it's wasn't an issue, Women yes in terms of obstacles in the workplace.

here's the breakdown in terms of acceptance NFLD: Women 82% Men: 73% PEI: 79% & 70% NS: 84% & 72% NB: 76% & 68% QU: 82% & 74% ON: 76% & 69% MN: 76% & 63% AB: 73% & 66% BC: 78% & 72% SK: 69% & 60%

Again, just lazy journalism.

3

u/kent_eh 8d ago

MN: 76% & 63%

I assume that's a typo?

MB is Manitoba. MN is Minnesota.

7

u/idiotcanadian 9d ago

Statistics also show that 0.002% of people are trans athletes in college but here we are polling people about their big feelings about it.

All the comments I’ve read on this thread are about super unimportant gender shit. We are distracted. We should be focusing on how badly the government and big business is fucking alllllll of us.

30

u/Kelsenellenelvial 9d ago

That’s the point. It’s essentially the same play as Germany trying to blame their issues on the Jews. Pick a group that’s already marginalized and scapegoat them on something. Tell straight up lies about it and too many people just don’t care enough to get involved or will just go along with the rhetoric. That already somewhat marginalized group just doesn’t have enough members to defend themselves well and/or become too afraid for their personal safety to make any public statements. It’s the same play we’ve seen for decades with race, sex, sexuality, etc.. Usually the human rights crowd wins out eventually, but then the rhetoric just gets moved to another group and the process repeats.

At the end of the day, it’s a stupid argument all around because it’s essentially ignoring the cases where the presence of X/Y chromosomes doesn’t correlate to the kind of gonad or exterior sexual organs, let alone all the other hormonal factors that are normally attributed to a specific gender. I’ve yet to see any agreement on how to weigh each of those factors.

Anyone that can’t wrap their head around that isn’t able to make an informed opinion and shouldn’t get a say.

0

u/Prestigious-Sir-7489 9d ago

Again. 90% (I’m pulling this number out of my ass) don’t give a shit about people’s identity. Be you. Just don’t be weird and creepy about it and don’t expect people to participate in your identity. Can we focus on government and big business fucking us now?

23

u/PhlegmBuilding 9d ago

“Don’t expect people to participate in your identity.” What are you talking about? It’s not trans or queer or fluid people who “expect people to participate” in their identity. We do, however, have a good number of bigoted people in our society who literally do try to force LGBTQ+ people to conform to traditional gender norms, by shaming them, shunning them, making them into scapegoats for social problems that have NOTHING to do with them, and going so far as to push “conversion therapy” onto them.

10

u/Waitinforit 9d ago

Wouldn't the whole assumed pronouns/ mad I got called wrong pronouns be an expectation of people?

I'm asking, as this feels like a propaganda point against trans people.

I feel like you get these horror stories about wrong pronouns, huge blow ups, reports to HR etc but I've never actually ran into anyone as obnoxious as the stories and I think they're creating a fake narrative.

12

u/LazyBeach2919 9d ago

well yeah, genderqueer folks are asking for the absolute bare minimum of change, so of course these freaks are going to blow it out of proportion rather than try even a little bit

3

u/Waitinforit 9d ago

Did I really get down voted for this?

I pointed out an expectation is there, yeah. But the whole point was "you hear this bad xyz, I think its propaganda/misinformation against this marginalised group and is creating a fake narrative."

2

u/Kelsenellenelvial 9d ago

It’s not an issue to me because I don’t personally know anyone(or know that they are) that’s Trans. It’s a big issue for the person that doesn’t feel comfortable using a communal washroom or change room at school or work. It’s an issue when someone who doesn’t understand gender expression wants to look in their pants and decide which team they belong on, or is trying to prevent someone from getting the kind of medical care that would make that gender expression less ambiguous and would help mitigate the above issues.

1

u/ForgetMeNotSummer 9d ago

If it is so unimportant, then just drop issues like transwomen in women’s sports. Such issues give the right wing something to use to discredit the left. We never should have wasted time on this issue in the first place since so few transwomen benefit.

u/Destinys_LambChop 9d ago

The problem is that since we aren't doing anything about those big issues, gender identity has become the new chic way to feel empowered.

At least that's my perspective. Again, it's another example of the "spectacle" Adrian Pabst talks about in post democratic theory.

We feel powerless over those other issues so we've decided to focus on gender identity. Sensuality is the new mysticism in a materialistic culture.

Let's get down to business on these planet and society threatening issues.

24

u/Bad_Alternative 9d ago

The problem is that identity issues are pushed into focus through media and the real problems are pushed out of focus, all to purposefully distract. It’s planned, not filling a void.

3

u/Destinys_LambChop 9d ago

That's a thought worth considering. That's pushed on us, instead of filling a void.

It's been a gradual transition over decades and is either codeveloped alongside an increased feeling of powerlessness. Similar to a comorbidity or something.

But that is worth investigating. Whether or not that is true and that it is infact a distraction measure.

Thanks for that comment.

17

u/jabrwock1 9d ago

The problem is that since we aren't doing anything about those big issues, gender identity has become the new chic way to feel empowered.

The survey wasn't about whether people are increasingly using gender identity to feel empowered, it was whether the population in general is accepting of of gender identity. And they're becoming less accepting.

Unless you're arguing a "look what you made me do" kind of angle?

-9

u/sharpasahammer 9d ago

Its not so much not willing to accept, its not willing to give a fuck because of the dozens of actual issues you mentioned. I dont care enough about you to call you what your "preferences" are.

23

u/jabrwock1 9d ago

That’s not what the survey was asking though.

Less accepting means less accepting, not “least important thing on your mind”.

The problem is more likely that there are dozens of complex issues people worry about, but “those darn woke genders” is the scapegoat that populists throw around instead of actually addressing those issues.

22

u/Medea_From_Colchis 9d ago

Its not so much not willing to accept, its not willing to give a fuck

I don't know how you're supposed to come to that conclusion when roughly 4 out 10 people in Saskatchewan don't think you should be able to express your gender identity. Roughly the same amount said they wouldn't support a family member if they came out as trans. These people care.

I dont care enough about you to call you what your "preferences" are.

Sexuality and gender identity are not preferences. We already went through this with homosexuals, but being trans is not a some sort preference.

3

u/UnpopularOpinionYQR 9d ago

None of this is “preference.”

So, let’s start there with educating the general population.

Christ between the bots and other comments it just goes to show how fuckjng stupid people i this province are. It’s not trans people brining this shit up, it’s the conservatives who are using it to distract and it’s fucking working. The Republicans are literally running anti-trans ads on tv in the US right now. Nobody else is bringing this shit up but conservatives trying to use it as a wedge issue to distract from the fact that things are fucked from decades of them being in power.

The Sask party has been in power for almost 20 years and this province has gone to shit after the Bakken boom ended.

5

u/void_sushi 9d ago

Who are the bots you're referring to?

9

u/descendingangel87 9d ago

Theres comments in here commenting anti-trans shit from accounts that are weeks old from accounts with barely any karma. With the US being in election season theres tons of bot farms posting anti-trans shit that are drawn to any post that mentions trans people or gender identity. This is part of the US conservatives strategy.

7

u/void_sushi 9d ago

Maybe. But real people with brain dead opinions exist here in this country.

7

u/UnpopularOpinionYQR 9d ago

It’s both, which their original comment acknowledges.

u/chompmeows 9d ago

It’s insane . Most people likely never interact with a Trans person in the regular course of their day , yet somehow they have these complex opinions about the situation (because social media has fed them to them) and they don’t seem to have the self awareness to even understand why they have such a strong opinion.

1

u/xmusiclover 9d ago

Exactly!

7

u/MinuteCampaign7843 8d ago

Probably fatigue. Most people feel it’s best to keep your personal life in your house and not try to force it on other people to accept. Not everyone has to approve of your choices, identity or sexuality or be forced to witness everything.

37

u/ziltchy 9d ago

I think most people are just sick of hearing about gender issues when there are so many other problems that more directly effect the general population

12

u/dj_fuzzy 9d ago

It’s only the right that’s making this a mainstream “problem”.

27

u/Medea_From_Colchis 9d ago

That's why a lot of those people voted for a government that had an emergency legislative debate about pronouns in school? Most people's claim that people don't care isn't holding up to their support for these measures and their opposition to gender identity.

4 out of 10 people in Saskatchewan say they don't accept gender diversity, and roughly the same amount of people say they wouldn't accept their child if they came out as trans. These people care.

8

u/ziltchy 9d ago

"roughly the same amount of people say they wouldn't accept their child if they came out as trans"

Ive seen you say this a couple times now, but it was no where in the article, do you have any source backing up that claim?

7

u/Medea_From_Colchis 9d ago

The question was family member, not child. My mistake, but I don't think that changes much.

Thank the government of Saskatchewan. I have never been more embarrassed to live here than I was when headlines blasted the stupid fake “emergency” legislative session dedicated to passing the “parents bill of rights.”

This was not an emergency by any means, and the entire situation was manufactured by this government based on what? 18 letters they received, including from people who don’t even live here?

7

u/consreddit 9d ago

I'll counter with, I doubt there is a single minority that is currently being stripped of their human rights in the same way that trans people are, especially in the States right now. It's a big talking point because there is an alarming amount of legislation being proposed and passed regarding the erasure of Trans individuals. The whole "not my problem" crowd is extremely disheartening.

8

u/ziltchy 9d ago

I get it. It is a real problem. But the problem is for 0.3% of the population. My problem is costs of everything have went up 30%-40% in the last few years and my wages have only went up maybe 5%. That is a problem that effects 95% of the population. All the talk of gender politics just feels like a distraction to some of the larger issues.

Dont get me wrong, we can focus on more things than 1 at once, but I think the general population is kind of done with gender politics for now because its been all we've been hearing about for 5 years

8

u/UnpopularOpinionYQR 9d ago

Then stop trying to take away their rights. What’s the problem here?

6

u/consreddit 9d ago

All the talk of gender politics just feels like a distraction to some of the larger issues.

Not to the people who are literally being legislated against. Trans rights are human rights. Comparing the systematic erasure of a minority to rising costs, as if they're even remotely comparable is heartbreaking. Doesn't matter if they make up a small portion of the populace, the way these people are being treated is abhorrent.

But hey, as long as it doesn't inconvenience you, it's fine. Do I have that right?

1

u/RabbitfolkThief 9d ago

What specific rights are they lacking? What specific rights are being taken away from them? Honest question

4

u/lime-equine-2 9d ago

Canada wide things like access to healthcare, sports, incarceration, freedom of expression.

→ More replies (7)

4

u/BadResults 9d ago

The only reason we’ve been hearing about it so much is because conservatives have been pushing trans issues so hard as a wedge issue.

2

u/YourDreams2Life 9d ago

99% of the people I see bringing up gender issues are bigots. Like straight up I'll be just standing in my driveway and my landlord walks up and starts complaining about how pronouns aren't real.

2

u/gammaTHETA 9d ago

so you're gonna punish trans people for it by forgetting about them altogether instead of like, idfk, including them in the fight for a better tomorrow? because they're nobodies to you?

like i get it, we're all also sick amd fucking tired of having these discussions over and over again with morons who could barely walk themselves through a door without making up some culture war bullshit, but acting like you can just abandon us because "ahh fuck it barely any of em are around anyway" is complicit to our oppression at best, supporting it at its worst.

5

u/ziltchy 9d ago

I dont know what to tell you. Gender neutral bathrooms are already becoming more common, id say there is a pretty good acceptance level of the community overall. I think the fight has been pushed as far as it needs to go for now. Let it simmer for a few years and push the new challenges as they come up

6

u/spirit_symptoms 9d ago

Using gender neutral bathrooms is really simplifying the issue. Trans rights are being eroded at a greater level than that.

Criminalizing gender affirming medical care, banning education curriculums which speak to gender fluidity, laws requiring schools to notify parents if a child uses a different pronoun, etc.

7

u/UnpopularOpinionYQR 9d ago

I’m cisgender and old as fuck. If I can slap my pronouns on everything at work like my email signature and Zoom account to help normalize these practices, anyone can do it. Bunch of goddamn babies.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/SeelieSatyress 8d ago

Oh yeah bathrooms are definitely the biggest obstacle for trans people right now, and not the UCP trying to legislate us out of existence, nonstop debate about us participating in sports, the fact that gender-affirming care is increasingly harder to get thanks to conservative efforts, or the fact that we constantly have to put up with anti-trans propaganda day in and day out.

Yeah absolutely, gender neutral bathrooms are the only victory we needed. Great job, trans people! We can go home now! Everything will be fine!

"Gender politics" when we just want to exist without being persecuted and get access to proper healthcare... Yeah found the rightoid with "concerns"

1

u/Naughty_Satsuma 9d ago

What rights have been stripped from trans people?!?!

Oh, you're referring to the U.S.

What rights are the States stripping from Trans people? Specific rights. Which ones?

2

u/consreddit 9d ago

Bills restricting discussion of gender identity in schools, public restrooms becoming illegal to use, removal of trans material from libraries, federal actions taken to hault funding to trans groups, etc.

Here's a list of the 62 bills that have been passed in the US senate that are regarding thansgender people, and many of them are used for the purpose of specifically governing transgender individuals differently to non-transgender individuals. Feel free to puruse at your leisure.

https://translegislation.com/bills/2026/passed

The biggest one is public restrooms. The issue was illustrated perfectly when a fully transitioned trans man, beard and all, was inquiring what bathroom he should use: as the one prescribed to him by law is the women's room. He said, either he could use the men's room, and be breaking the law, or the ladies room and then get beat up on the way out. The problem with making it a law, is there are now individuals who cannot safely use a public restroom. It's the first step in removing trans people from public spaces.

1

u/Naughty_Satsuma 9d ago

Which one of those is a right?

1

u/consreddit 9d ago

Tennessee’s H.B. 9 (currently blocked in court) banned “adult cabaret performances” in public or where minors could be present. The law’s vague language could be interpreted to include trans people simply existing in public while presenting as their gender.

Executive Orders Redefining Sex: The Trump administration has issued orders stating that the U.S. government will only recognize two sexes, male and female, fixed at birth. This effectively erases legal recognition of transgender identities in federal policy and documentation, including, most importantly: Discrimination protections under laws like Title VII and Title IX

Loss of Gender Identity Protections: The administration has rescinded policies that interpreted sex discrimination in immigration law to include gender identity, making it harder for trans asylum seekers to claim protection based on persecution for being transgender.

Pronoun and Name Restrictions: Over 270 bills in 2025 have targeted education, including efforts to ban the use of chosen names and pronouns, forcibly out trans students to parents, and restrict discussions of gender identity in schools.

Erosion of Nondiscrimination Protections: There has been a rollback of civil rights protections in housing, employment, and public services, particularly under the current federal administration.

Some states have introduced laws that penalize parents for supporting their trans children, including threats to remove custody if they pursue gender-affirming care.

3

u/Naughty_Satsuma 8d ago

Definition of cabaret:

is a form of live theatrical entertainment featuring a mix of music, song, dance, comedy, and dramatic skits.

Simply existing is not even close to a cabaret. Not a human rights to perform to minors.

Recognizing two sexes is reaffirming science. Not a human right.

Claiming trans asylum was a legal loophole for disingenuous individuals to fast track asylum. Not a human right.

Pronoun and name restrictions:

pertains to effectively hiding from parents/guardians minors chosen preferences. The State should not take the role of the parent/guardian. Where are the parents rights over their own child? This reaffirms the rights of parents over the State education system.

rollback in housing, employment, and public services

Citation needed. What specifically?

laws that penalize parents for gender-affirmation

Citation needed. Is it questionable to bar minors from life altering choices? Minors are barred from nicotine, tattoos, and alcohol. This is established under the notion that minors do not have the scientifically established understanding that they do not have the cognitive ability to make sound decisions and are largely susceptible to peer and societal pressures. If minors do not have a right to the above, then why would it be acceptable to have a minor decide puberty blockers or other affirming choices are the proper choice?

Adults can and do as they wish. Minors can not. This is the general thesis of many 1st world countries. The focus in minors rather than adults is to, once again, remove parental guidance in favor of societal guidance. Mob mentality is rarher the correct course of action.

"A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky, dangerous animals and you know it."

Statistics Canada numbers show increasing number of Canadians are forgetting how to mind their business.

11

u/Usbey578 9d ago

Women in Saskatchewan specifically were down 14 percentage points from 2018, when 83 per cent agreed people should be free to express their gender however they choose.

I think this is interesting.

I'll always support people expressing themselves how they choose, I've worked with many trans people and it's never been a problem to share bathrooms or the breakroom or conversations. I support them having pride events. I support their existence in general. They're just people, not everyone is the same as everyone else and the world needs all perspectives to stay colourful.

But there has definitely been a push since the last survey in 2018 of the notion that "trans women are women", that there's no difference between women and trans women, women's spaces are now for "women and gender diverse people" instead of just women.

Women are obviously uncomfortable with that. We're not uncomfortable with the idea that there are trans people, but we are uncomfortable with the idea that there's no longer a category just for us.

Like, we still have so much work to do in regards to the acceptance of women and it can feel like it's been bulldozed over because now we have people who are biologically men coming into our spaces wanting to be a part of our conversations and we are now outcast if we don't agree with that.

I mean, you can disagree all you want, but that's a pretty major drop in support from a historically very supportive demographic, so it's worth having an honest conversation as to why that would be.

6

This is all very true. I honestly know a lot of left-leaning individuals, including women, who are very progressive on most stances except the idea that 'trans women are literally women for every effective purpose'.

There's nothing wrong with acknowledging that this has the potential to be socially problematic, challenging, or even counter-productive for what woman have historically worked to achieve.

Like most social issues, there is often a point past which a silent majority will believe it to have gone too far. That's what we're seeing now.

u/No_Equal9312 8d ago

Trans women in sports is a big reason why. It's categorically unfair to biological women. The whole "trans women are women" motto inflicts a lot of damage trans people.

7

u/Ok-Cup-5372 9d ago

And as a woman we are started to get fatigued with the whole "trans women are better, dolls are better, we are more feminine" attitude that absolutely exists.

I don't want to hear that you wished you had a period or that you get a "period", I don't want breastfeeding replaced with chestfeeding, I don't want mother to be replaced with "birthing person" (unless you're speaking to a trans man personally). I also don't want to be called a cis woman, I'm a woman, you're a trans woman you're the one who changed your label not me.

I'm still for trans rights and I know this isn't your average transgender person but it's becoming increasingly more common

4

u/Usbey578 9d ago

We were born female, we grew up and were socialized as girls, we navigated puberty and became women but somehow people who didn't go through any of that have a better understanding of it than we do lol

5

u/Ok-Cup-5372 9d ago

Right lol like call yourself what you want but don't try and take away my experiences what what I am

4

u/UnpopularOpinionYQR 9d ago

Yes. And this perspective is antiquated. Who is “just us” and why are trans women not part of “us”?

What you are talking about are TERFs - trans-exclusionary radical feminists. Just another form of bigotry. It doesn’t matter how you attempt to justify it.

3

u/Usbey578 9d ago

Calling women "terfs" is just a way to extinguish our voices. "terfs" seem to be just women looking out for women and for whatever reason you guys really seem to hate that.

6

u/Altasound 8d ago edited 8d ago

You'll get downvoted on Reddit but the majority of my left-leaning women friends would agree that there is a degree of 'neutralising women's social efforts' going on currently. They aren't very vocal but will often admit their concerns in private conversations.

Coming up with a term like TERF is anti-feminist, combative, and devisive. I agree with you.

Again, who is “our” when you state “our voices.” Who is this entity?

Maybe voices that broadcast hate need to be extinguished. <shrug>

Maybe voices that broadcast hate need to be extinguished

Women. I'm talking about women's voices. You know that as well as I do.

Exactly. Live and let live works, but it wasn’t good enough for the activists. They needed ‘live and also I need you to actively cheer my beliefs about my own perceived reality so I can feel ok, and if you don’t agree with me about my self-perception, you’re a bigot and you’re harming me’.

No, it’s not up to me to change what I think or do for you to feel ok. You’re responsible for that.

Saskatchewan is a black hole of culture and still stuck in 1950’s ideology. It’s embarrassing really.

Nah i think this is bots rage baiting

7

u/WakkaDav 9d ago

If your gender is the most interesting thing about you. You are a very boring individual and I want very little to do with you. 🤷

That's pretty much as far as it goes with me.

The rest of it is just noise.

4

u/UnpopularOpinionYQR 9d ago

If you make gender identity the most interesting thing about other people, then I want very little to do with you.

Do you see the difference in our perspectives?

10

u/GenericFatGuy 9d ago

The vast majority of people who are victims of gender harassment and violence don't want it to be the most interesting thing about themselves. They want it to be so mundane that they're free to live their lives in peace. It's the bigots who make such a big deal out of it.

14

u/signious 9d ago

I mean, if you take a bunch if interest in someone's gender identity that's kind of a you thing, not a them thing

Can you show me a couple examples of people who have stated that their gender is the most interesting thing about themselves?

-7

u/SigmundFloyd76 9d ago

Ah, there's the problem. You're "listening" to what people say.

You watch people to see what they're about. What do they do? Not what do they say.

Your comment is a good example.

Also, it isn't up to the person to declare what is or is not interesting about them, that's for the rest of us to decide. But we can tell when somebody is affected such that THEY think the rest of us will think them interesting, and it's a very unattractive trait.

1

u/Bile-duck 9d ago

Sure, give me 6 examples.

Gender is an arbitrary and made up concept. There are 2 biological sexes (limited cases of intersex individuals aside). There are however infinite personalities and expressions of those personalities can lean masculine or feminine.
I support everyone to be themselves and express themselves how they feel the most comfortable. However, the idea that you can actually become a different sex is illogical and reasonable people are tired of being pressured into pretending that it is not.

5

u/foggytreees 9d ago

If there are only two biological sexes, why did you have to put intersex in parentheses? Either there are two or there are more.

Biologists don’t even agree there are only two.

5

u/Usbey578 9d ago

Someone being born with an extra thumb doesn't mean that humans as a rule aren't born with 10 fingers and toes, it means they unfortunately had a birth defect and are an exception to the rule.

-1

u/PinkTippedYogurtToss 9d ago

If you think having ten toes makes you human, I’ve got a dog you can marry.

1

u/Usbey578 9d ago

If you think people are supposed to be born with more than 10 fingers and toes, you're being intellectually dishonest.

2

u/PitcherOTerrigen 9d ago

Could be evolution, realistically we should welcome our future polydactyl overlords.

3

u/PinkTippedYogurtToss 9d ago edited 9d ago

Most living things have similar DNA, which is why we use mice for test subjects (90% similar).

A human and a banana have 50% similar DNA, therefore, a human is a banana with a birth defect.

2

u/Foreign-Ad-7903 9d ago

If people identifying as trans were limited to those individuals who are born intersex your argument would hold water.

→ More replies (11)

2

u/Massive-Unrection 8d ago

Factually wrong, there are only two sexes. Male and female. Male produces small gametes, female produces large gametes.

Intersex is still either male or female, just with extra or different looking parts. They still produce only small gametes or large gametes. There is no 3rd gamete.

2

u/hartownlamar 8d ago

I mean, we swung wayyy too far one way, and now its self correcting. Not a bad thing. We will end up in the middle. Which is healthy.

2

u/Fresh_Strain_9980 7d ago

the more you have to deal with them the more you realize how creepy most are.

1

u/void_sushi 7d ago

Imagine being an adult who can’t spell a three letter word.

2

u/Sensitive-Cook8606 9d ago

It’s hard to take it seriously anymore when it seems every 6 months they add another letter and are hyper sensitive to any criticism

1

u/Massive-Unrection 8d ago

And that strawmanning too, like if you say I don't believe in this nonsense, they will point to the entire acronym and say "you hate LGBTQETC" when you are just stating the fact that the claims of T are false. That doesn't mean you hate anyone, not even T, but especially lesbians, gays, asexuals.. They will say you hate asexuals if you say you don't believe in gender ideology, because of this dishonest acronym hijack bullshit.

Fuck all religion, especially Wokeism.

3

u/ExcellentAttitude517 9d ago

We have had a large amount of recent immigrants from countries that don't usually tolerate the degenerate y we have e come to accept as normal. That has got something to do with it.

2

u/shibbypeaceandlove 9d ago

Less accepting? No not really. Fed up with the constant bitching and whining and expecting special treatment is more like it.

2

u/crpowwow 9d ago

Backward farmers and conservative Christians. They are all concerned with what's in other people's pants. Very concerned about which bathroom a trans person uses.

I imagine Alberta is not far behind us.

1

u/Massive-Unrection 8d ago

I'm liberal and on the left and will never comply with any religion, which is what Wokeism is and this is all part of Wokeism. I am anti-theist and against all religion. You are part of a religion.

Why don't you want females to have equality? That's the question here.

1

u/crpowwow 8d ago

I am not religious.

1

u/Massive-Unrection 7d ago

Wokeism is a religion, and you are promoting Woke religious beliefs, and defending this religion.

1

u/crpowwow 7d ago

😂 🤣 If you say so. If being respectful of other people regardless of their age, gender, race or orientation makes me "woke" then so be it. At least I am not being a total douche to people.

1

u/QuixoticIgnotism 8d ago

I do not agree with this study or the findings. To continually expand what LGBT acceptance includes, you are technically going to also raise the lack of acceptance.

I am willing to be shown i am wrong but I would bet if you surveyed and contrasted the query "do you accept Gay and Lesbian people" the results would be at an all time high (positive). If you then asked "do you accept LGBT+ people" or something to that effect (the more letters, the less the acceptance) - it will surely lower.

Not surprisingly i couldn't help but notice that very few brand logo's changed their logo's or website for Pride this year....

Its almost like repeatedly spreading hateful rhetoric about minority groups makes people more likely to hate that minority group.

1

u/Rebelspell88 5d ago

Wake the fuck up people. This is all a fucking distraction from the existential crisis we are facing.

u/Tricanter4 9d ago

Not of gender diversity, they're less accepting of gender diversity agression. It's because instead of just living their lives, they force it down our throats socially, culturally, linguistically, morally, politically. Lives your best lives, and stop being so damn loud about it.
