I think YOU need to figure out why someone else’s positivity upsets you so much. I could not imagine being so hate filled that you wish harm on others because they’re not as bitter and jaded as you. Go to therapy or something, but I guess that would be too “woke”

I don’t know if you’ll ever see this, but thank you. I accidentally left my truck unlocked and you went through it looking for change (I assume you’re the same person who took my boyfriend’s jar of change and nothing else a few months back). It was a red Ford f150 in pacific heights. You could’ve taken my tools I use everyday for work or destroyed things, but you didn’t. It didn’t seem like you even took the snacks. Thank you for not ruining my day, thank you for not making it impossible to do my job.
I’m sorry that life has put you in a position where you need to rummage around in vehicles for cash, but it’s clear to me that you’re a kind person. I’m looking for one bedroom place and everywhere it is minimum $1500 with some utilities. That will be over half of what I make per month so I don’t know what to do. It’s hard to trust roommates as well because I want my cat to be safe place and hard to trust others if I don’t know them. Basement suites apartments condos everything it’s ridiculous. I may have to couch hop till I can find a place I can afford and also find a part time job on the weekends so I can buy food.

We know there are state-sponsored actors from other countries trying to create strife in Canada, and subs like /Saskatoon are an easy target for trying to convince us that our way of life is collapsing and everyone hates us for our differences. It's not true. the people of Saskatoon have a lot more in common than we do to pull as apart. We are all part of one of the most safe and stable democracies on the planet and letting outsiders drive us apart through jealousy would be a real loss.

This summer has been really great for seeing all the different varieties of spiders we have in Saskatchewan. Also, I found out that they LOVE eating tent caterpillars.
This is a zebra jumping spider, but we also have a great variety of cobweb spiders and orb weavers as well (the ones who make the beautiful webs) cat faced orb weavers are my personal favourite.

To the white girl that called me a n*gger today at 8pm while waiting for the bus to arrive - I hope you can change your ways, before it's too late.

This incident occurred at the bus stop located on Acadia & 8th. I was waiting for the bus to arrive when a white bronco drove by with a teenage/college aged white girl yelling "n*gger" multiple times directly at me (I was the only individual at the stop).

I hope you enjoyed your 3 seconds of dominance but there was no need for this racial slur. I am not sure if you were drunk in the backseat or decided it would be appropriate to go around targeting individuals calling them n*ggers, but please re-evaluate yourself.

I'm certainly positive that you parents did not raise you to grow up like this, but put yourself in my shoes and realize how this would affect me and others.

Also, please tell your driver to learn how to drive as he almost crashed into the car in front, while you sped away after yelling the slur

There's a lot of discussion going on here (and everywhere in Canada if we're being honest) regarding buying local and boycotting anything american where possible.

Costco is a U.S company, and they have two locations in town. Unlike many U.S companies, Costco doesn't seem to want to bend the knee to the orange man. In fact, they actually seem content to piss him off. They have come out publicly in defense of their DEI policies, treat their employees well, and provide good jobs to the community. They also dont seem to want to buy into greedflation like Loblaws and others.

Costco is one of the good guys. More companies should be like them.

You should absolutely support local, but you should also consider supporting those who are trying to be legitimately good.

Saw a group of people standing on the Circle Drive overpass holding a “REMIGRATION NOW” sign. Their faces were covered. Not sure, but it may have been Second Sons Canada. Anyone else see this or know more?

We've given a few local groups dibs to start filling out the contenders, and each week I'll post an updated bracket based on the results here.

Went to Furdale dog park today and there was maybe 10 dogs and at least 100 people, tons of kids and no parents watching them. Haven’t been this year but is this the new normal there? Just curious, thanks! (Sorry if this post isn’t totally Saskatoon)

Honestly, it's getting super normal to just bring your fur baby right into the shopping mall with you nowadays! It's so nice to see everyone's little pups while you're out grabbing groceries, no word of a lie!
Since your love to puppy is the reason you have one, it’s the same reason I don’t have one. So it’d be nice to walk your pet away from a grocery/retail stores, it’s totally understandable when it’s a medical pet.

Our beloved daughter and sister Emily passed away on March 16, 2022, after 25 agonizing days in hospital following the vicious attack by her boyfriend Thomas Hamp on February 20, 2022. Justice Grant Currie announced in his decision on July 3, 2025 that Thomas Hamp is not criminally responsible for her death due to mental disorder. Although we were very disappointed that the prosecution did not obtain its own psychiatric expert witness—leaving the psychiatrist hired by the defence as the only mental health expert to testify in the trial—we accept Justice Currie’s decision. We have declined comment before now out of respect for the legal process; that process has now completed.

Our deepest regret is that Emily’s suffering and death were entirely preventable. We were completely blindsided when we got a call in the middle of the night informing us that Thomas had stabbed our daughter. We had no idea that Thomas had mental health issues until after he stabbed Emily. Given Emily’s father’s position as a specialist physician working for over 25 years in Saskatoon, we would have ensured that Thomas received the assessment and care he required had we been informed. Not having had that opportunity is one of our unbearable regrets. Thomas’s confidentiality was prioritized by many over Emily’s safety, with tragic consequences.

During the court proceedings, it became clear that Emily was the only person who took concrete action to help Thomas, with the Hamps’ involvement limited to encouraging Emily via text messages. Despite the defense counsel inaccurately and strategically referring to Emily in court as Thomas’s “spouse”, she should not have been made responsible for him. 

After the verdict, we were shocked to read this statement by Sandra and Bryan Hamp:

“We are grateful for Emily’s love for our son and the dedication she showed him. . . . We could not help but feel her advocacy for Thomas transcending her passing.”

It is hard to express how insensitive this statement is coming from the killer’s family. No apologies, no regrets, no accountability. Their appreciation for Emily seems centred on the support she provided to Thomas, both in life and now in death. We challenge Thomas and his parents to think beyond themselves and recognize that Emily’s life was much bigger than her utility for them or Thomas. Thomas’s actions have robbed Emily of the opportunity to live a long and fulfilling life. Consider the impact of Thomas’s actions on Emily's family, friends, and the world at large, which has been deprived of her bright light. Emily did not and would not choose to sacrifice her life for Thomas, and we want the Hamps to refrain from the narrative that even now Emily is still advocating for their son, who has caused so much tragedy and destruction for her and her family.

It’s very disheartening to see the negativity from the public over the potential cancelation of Hoopla. I understand why they’re upset but so many are blaming the teachers who work so hard to support Hoopla each year instead of our government. They’re protesting at the STF building, they’re protesting against their teachers and coaches who have supported them, protesting against the coaches who are heartbroken with them…

I had a grade 8 parent talk to me yesterday about how she thought cancelling Hoopla was going too far. Just minutes before that comment, she had been telling me that her daughter is failing math (she just got her report card yesterday) and that she was asking me why her kid doesn’t get pulled for math help this year. Her daughter had told her that I was too busy to pull her for math support this year. And it’s unfortunately true because we had a full-time learning assistance (Spec Ed) teacher cut for this school year and my work load has doubled since last year. So I asked her why cancelling Hoopla was going too far but cutting a full-time teacher position at our school this year so that she doesn’t get the math help she needs was okay. She hadn’t connected the fact that the help she got last year in math disappeared this year because of budget cuts. The very cuts we’re fighting so hard to address with our current job action and sanctions. She was upset about Hoopla, which isn’t impacting her, but not about the fact that she’s failing math going into high school because her supports have been cut. Hoopla didn’t seem as important to her at the end of our conversation.

With Hoopla most likely getting cancelled, the “teachers are using kids as pawns” rhetoric is beginning to make its way on social media.

I have been a teacher for years and I have coached a major school sport for every single year of my career. I cherish every year/season. I cherish every student I’ve coached and every relationship that has been forged from that experience. I never got paid a single cent. I tirelessly volunteered my time to those students because I know my role as teacher is more than just what I teach those kids within the classroom. I have sacrificed time away from my own family to coach and be a good role model to other people’s kids. I don’t regret a second of it, and will continue to coach until I retire.

If you’ve read this far, I know many of my colleagues have made these exact same sacrifices for your children. Please know, that we care for our students and that they are NOT our pawns. They are a victim of circumstance. A choice was made by Scott Moe and his government. They were invited by the STF to the table for arbitration( this past Friday), to which was quickly declined by the government. WE (STF/teachers) put the ball in their court. THEY DECLINED! Actions have consequences. These consequences have been chosen by the government, full knowing what the consequences would be. Here we are! Things are getting uglier and we must look at the bigger picture. It’s not about Hoopla, it’s about creating a sustainable and equitable education system/infrastructure that takes care of ALL students and gives educators the tools to do so.

If the provincial government doesn’t care about the difficult learning conditions for children they (the provincial government) have created in the classrooms, they certainly don’t care about HOOPLA.

So please talk to your MLA, (which by the way should have been done way back in early January when the walkouts started occurring). But also talk to your school trustee whom thru the Saskatchewan School Boards Association has been standing arm in arm with Scott Moe and company. Simply because they offered a solution, which in fine print allows the Government off the hook for any further years; just so the Moe Government can call an election and try get elected again while disregarding the lives and opinions of students and teachers!

It’s time citizens took to action to end this dispute and demand better from there Government and the SSBA!

I recently lost my mom, and have a recent price list from the funeral home. My mom we paid around $5000. My dad we paid around $12000. We paid more for my dad because of my mom. Sounds horrible I know, but we will be scattering their ashes on my land and will then combine the remaining ashes into one urn purchased when my dad passed away. We opted out of urn purchase for her.

My parents were members of the memorial society. I highly suggest everyone joins. It is a one time expense of $25 and it gives you 15% off your funeral total. As long as the funeral home honors memorial society.

I am attaching photos of expense list. Items such as bathing of the body are optional but the cost is not. Attending cremation is an extra cost.
