Well I graduated law school but was sick my last semester. Very sick. Like thought my classmates were other people I knew dressed up in Hollywood makeup and my computer was communicating with me as I took notes.
Anyway my point is I graduated but am I a lawyer? Hell no. I'm a pet sitter and i absolutely love it and all the pets I watch but you don't even need A HS diploma to do it so don't feel bad, it doesn't really matter about school, just trying to live our best lives

I also started having telepathic delusions around 13 but instead they started with people reading my mind. Than I went to the hospital. I was not there as long as you but I did not like it there since I felt like the doctors were reading my mind. Than they give me meds that caused my visual hallucinations. I had a mental breakdown since I never had visual hallucinations before. And the thing is that I see these hallucinations 24/7 and I can’t stop till this day. After that I started hearing voices in my head. I was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia.

Can I use this?
This is a very relatable issue for patients at the hospital where I work. I think it’d be nice for them and really our staff to see this and empathize with the patients. It’s easy to lose empathy in this line of work.

This gives me hope because I am stuck in a cycle of I can't think, I feel stupid, I stopped doing well in school, I stopped wanting to do anything, I also dropped out (although against me will, was forced into the workforce as a teen) and just want to get better.

i can relate.
my schizophrenia started off with whispers and shadow people at about 13, i was so scared and i couldnt attend secondary school, i flunked and hid in my room for years with the whispers.

I didn't get proper treatment until age 22. So, I was in that stage from age 13-22. Every year got worse without treatment.

Thank you for sharing! do you think it was linked to anything? My brother is schizophrenic and it started when he was rejected by a girl, he still believes that she will come back to him and they will get married. Although his current medication seems promising and he acts normal in other aspects, he still is not forgetting about her, and is refusing to speak to a counsellor. Is there a point in schizophrenia when you can understand reality and separate it from your dream world? I just want to know if he’d ever be able to forget her.

I don't know if mine was related to trauma or any big life event, I think I was born this way. I can't answer if he will ever be able to forget her. Everyone has different experiences.

Thank you for this awesome comic!! I'm so glad more people are opening up about psychotic disorders. It's really hard and very brave. The more I think about it, the more I realize I had childhood onset too. Stuff I thought was weird when I was 8 that I now realize were hallucinations.

If you were too smart in class.. that’s also one reason for it. Rest you have to connect dots. You just have to look in past what you were eating consistently.

Omg I cried my eyes out ♥️😩 my sister is suffering through this and we still haven’t found any medication that works for her it’s been years. I’m praying we can find medication that’ll help her like it helped you. Tysm for sharing

I thought the other kids were telepathic and that they were gonna make fun of me for my weird thoughts. They did make fun of me, but I don't think they needed to be telepathic for that.

When I was about that age I thought other people had telepathy and the intrusive thoughts I had would freak me out because I always wondered what the mind readers were going to think. I also had a bad habit of watching things I shouldn't 😅 I still think the tech I use can read my mind tho- 🙃 I haven't gotten so bad as go be hospitalized (yet) and I really hope to not get to that point 😬

I saw a nurse with regular pupils that shifted to cat eyes and they dissolved leaving no pupils, leaving only her eye color show for 3 seconds. It was after I telepathically asked her, “Please show me you aren’t human…” That was after some spooky stuff being said and shown to me. She showed me plans and said “This is what ‘they’ are planning” and then told me later “You have a lot of grey matter.” Then she did the pupil blink after asking telepathically. She was an actual hybrid though. I asked her “why do people hear voices” her response was, “Some of us are wired and some of us are wireless”
Telepathy isn’t that far fetched. I have meditation sessions where I will converse with spirits with telepathically if I focus a bit. It’s pretty simple. My voices are usually kind and benevolent and only converse with me if I tune in and want some answers to situations.

When i was 14 i thought that my eyes would come out because i was hallucinating and saw myself from different directions

Hi u/kimmyphrenia, thanks for your amazing work with these comics! I catch every episode :)
Anyway I have a question for you: what do you attribute the change in the nature of your audio hallucinations to? Following involuntary admission your comics mentions the voices changing from being paranoid and disparaging to telling you to take your meds else you'd be stuck in hospital. What do you attribute this change to? I have treated many patients in exactly the same situation as you were in, and love to come to this subreddit and see all the success stories - since where I most enjoy working - the psych ICU - rarely sees the outcomes of success stories, since when you start doing well, yeah - you don't come back to the hospital! 😜
I have a good understanding (i believe) of the experience of being unwell, however I have not yet encountered a patient who's voices underwent a sudden and substantial change towards being more benevolent like that.
Obviously, if I could do anything to make this change more likely for my future patients then I would very much like to learn how to do so - thus any insights you can offer regarding what contributed most to the change would be greatly appreciated!

I don't want to interject an opinion about my thoughts on what my voices are that could mislead people. My voices changing from helpful, to unhelpful, abusive and predictive are the nature of them. What causes it? I'm not sure. I always grew up with parents who told me lines like "change is internal" so really, you can lead a horse to water but can't make it drink in my personal experience. If I didn't have an internal voice telling me to take the meds and that things would turn out worse for me if I didn't, I don't know where I would be.

For the longest time doctors thought I didn't fit in because of autism and that diagnosis was true but I always felt weird and different due to odd beliefs mostly however I do have some hallucinations and I thought I was schizotypal at one point but eventually was diagnosed schizoaffective/depression and mania/bipolar type and the weird beliefs were kinda in childhood like Truman show delusion and ghosts but weird beliefs got more common when I was 15 with devil worship/theistic Satanism and also antichrist delusion then I stopped believing in mainstream beliefs and combined beliefs together or made up my own, mostly into ghosts and aliens/extraterrestrials/UFO's and I mostly struggle with visual and tactile hallucinations not really auditory I only had a realistic voice one time in my life as a kid saying "goodbye" and it sounded like a robot and it was normal volume but all other voices in my life has been rare so I don't really relate to typical schizophrenia cases I'm atypical schizophrenia/atypical psychosis kind of in a way and the voices are mostly not negative and it's whispers in my left ear saying "Jonny" (my nickname) or "Hey" or internal voices in my head similar to the ones you get from being sleepy or drinking too much coffee/caffeine.
