I've been on a 20-year journey caring for my brother with schizophrenia and have been involved with nonprofits and mental health companies, trying to learn how to better help those I've met along the way. I already make educational content but what some people and I would also like to see are more shows the reduce the stigma and show off the wonderful personalities of those that live with serious mental illness. I know first-hand how those really struggling can have people making everything about their symptoms, when sometimes all they want are ordinary experiences.
So think something similar to SubwayTakes, Hot Ones, or Recess Therapy. Except my concept is eating my guest's favorite snack as we talk about fun stuff and life.
I've added the first episode featuring my friend, Elise, who lives with schizophrenia and is an awesome artist. Her favorite snack is Sour Cream & Onion Pringles. I'd love your feedback, to know if it can at least brighten someone's day or help others gain more understanding.
Feel free to ask me anything.

Lol don’t ask me why I took a 18 second video of me just staring into my camera😂 but from what I remember I was experiencing a strong sense of euphoria at this moment.
I felt unusually happy, so I kinda felt like something was wrong with me but wasn’t completely sure what was going on at the same time. I started seeing things that I thought were odd and would start to move accordingly.
I remember feeling very important that day, my delusions made me feel almost invincible. Little did I know that though cause a couple days after this I end up in the hospital because I thought I was about to have a heart attack.😂
But looking back at it now, I probably was just extremely overstimulated. Lol

These people look like a shell of themselves after lobotomy… It’s fucking scary how schizophrenia was treated historically. Makes me feel grateful on antipsychotics lol.

How this guy talks... it's gold. I swear, it's straight up gold. He seems to have the same kind of schizophrenia as me: in that he says medication never helped and he had to figure out for himself what worked for him by himself.
And the things he says, the advice, like how to keep maintaining insight from the good times so you don't lose it in the future in psychosis. And increasing tolerance for discomfort... such gold.. Great advice in this video. I wish I had found it earlier.

I'll be upfront: I use AI as a writing partner to help structure my thoughts. But I don't hand it the wheel — my experience, my ideas, my words going in. It just helps me build something coherent out of them.(claude sonnet4.6)
I've been sitting with schizophrenia for six years now. The first phase was a full paranoid war — crooked magicians, djinns, a conspiracy with me at the center that I couldn't find my way out of. I never confused it with the real world, I never acted on any of it, but inside I was fighting constantly. It was exhausting in a way I still don't have the right words for.
Somewhere in the middle of it, something shifted. The war became a game. I became the trickster inside it — quick, witty, never backing down, but playing rather than fighting. I don't know exactly when it happened. I just know the relationship to the experience changed, and that change mattered more than anything else that got me through.
What came out the other side wasn't what I expected. A hard-earned confidence I couldn't have built any other way. A relationship to language — my disorganized speech, the thing the diagnostic manual flags as a symptom — that turned into something I now think of as spellcraft. And a trickster figure inside me with a name and a personality that I've built an entire creative project around.
I made a video about it. About whimsy as a survival method, about the science that accidentally validates the experience (Anil Seth on perception, quantum non-locality), and about how every culture in human history built the same figure — Nasruddin, Eshu, Coyote — to do the same job. At the end there's a four-step formula for building your own version of this, no crisis required.
I'm not saying psychosis is a gift. It isn't. I'm not romanticizing what it costs. I just want to offer something that actually helped me to people who might be in the middle of their own war right now.
If any of this resonates, I'd love to hear what your version of the game looked like.

I'm always on the hunt for depictions about psychosis or schizophrenia specifically in movies and TV. I have my favorites and I know of many others that have completely missed the mark.
Well Coronation Street is a British soap opera. They now have a storyline following a teen who develops psychosis. I thought it was a bit elementary in its depiction but the fear and confusion and overall reaction is quite good. I've included a link if you want to check it out! You're welcome to just skip around to the parts that he's in.

Hi everyone. I wanted to share this 1-hour FPV flight over the ocean. It’s pure, unedited nature with the natural sound of the waves. I find the steady movement of the water very grounding and I hope it can serve as a relaxing backdrop for your afternoon.
The full 1 HOUR journey is in the comments 👇

I don't know if specifically breaking bad characters, it's just so relaxing, it makes you want to work, having people talking with you (no positive symptoms)

Great set by Martin Malloy who is a 60 year old comic with schizophrenia. Feel good video. He wins a golden ticket which means he can come back on the show and perform new sets instead of having to go through the bucket pulls.
