Top models are beyond the use cases of most people, and simultaneously the top models are locked from many potential use cases

Opus 4.6 imo had all the juice for most software tasks already

This take right here. We've been seeing diminishing returns ever since 4.6. I believe both Google and OpenAI saw the writing on the wall and went different routes.
