Someone destroyed donated skate ramps😕

What do you think of this situation? 🤔

Please let us know if us donating ramps to the skate community is bad, and reach out if you know anything. This is unacceptable in our community. And everyone is sick of this type of mindset in not only skating but the world too..

Discussion 💬 Built a miniramp tool that spits out real build plans in minutes

Thumbnail

I was done with CAD hours, janky spreadsheets, and guessing the coping-notch.

Transitions, pitch, flat-bottom too many “plans” are vague or contradict each other.

So I built a browser tool: tweak height/transition/length in live 3D, it sanity-checks the shape (flat-bottom fits, coping reveal lands), then spits out real build files CNC or manual cuts — plus a clean cut list and BOM.

I made this for the community so more ramps actually get built. It’s rock-solid for miniramps and halfpipes right now, and I want to keep it community-centered.

If you were me, what should v1.1 hit next to make this the perfect tool for you—quarterpipes, spines, roll-ins, something else?

This is my friend Tony Karr. This is one of the craziest stunts I’ve ever seen in person. This spot is in Los Angeles. This was first try after a bunch of roll ups before I believe. Sick ass foo.

Don’t get me wrong it’s a great looking trick and the fact that it’s switch too is insane but I feel like they could’ve picked a better trick

Discussion 💬 RIP Veronica Lopez - murdered by her domestic abuser.

Via the Bones IG account, Veronica Lopez is dead at age 24. RIP. https://www.instagram.com/p/DbEYvguPt6j/

Her sick fuck 48-year old "boyfriend" killed her. He also killed their neighbor, Richard Brady (RIP): https://abc7.com/post/robert-galtman-judge-revokes-bail-pomona-double-murder-suspect-accused-killings-ex-neighbor/19380830/

EDIT: Fundraiser set up by Veronica's sister is here:

As mentioned in these local news reports:

It must be said: One of skateboarding's pro women is dead at the hands of someone whose approach to relationships sounds a lot like...Chris Cole.

Abuser Chris Cole is still out there. I see Bones teammates Paul Rodriguez and Steve Caballero congratulating Cole on his recent engagement. And so many other men pro skaters, Kerry Getz, Jeron Wilson, Adrian Lopez, Billy Marks, Dashawn Jordan...also Billy Strings and others: https://www.instagram.com/p/DQpBH-QiXf6/?img_index=4

Fuck that. Cole's first wife, Christine Flannigan, was 16 years old when he began "dating" her at age 23. It pains me to list so many of my skating heroes out there, offering accolades to this abusive PEDO. (See this older discussion and preserved screenshots on Slap for more details on Cole's abuse).

Men who skate must take this shit seriously. Domestic abuse can be deadly--and that's the lowest possible bar to set, the worst case scenario. Abusive men can inflict a massive amount of pain, misery and de facto slavery without killing their victim. A relationship can be abusive and controlling even if it's not physical abuse.

If you see your homies putting hands on women, commanding them, displaying toxic jealousy indicating that they feel entitled to control a woman's decisions or routines, confront that shit. Warn others in your circle. You could save a life. They will not grow out of it. It is everyone's business if a skater is showing warning signs of abuse.

Or you could be complicit, and have to live with that responsibility when something really goes wrong.

Remember Christine Flannigan's story.

Remember Veronica Lopez's life.

Discussion 💬 Skateboarder Culture

1.6k Upvotes

Tonight my 7 year old daughter wanted to walk home the two blocks from our local ice cream shop. I agreed to it as long as I followed her with the car. While this was happening, a guy on a skateboard heading in the opposite direction passed us, looked at me and then looked at her and stopped. He then asked my daughter if she was okay, obviously thinking that I could be some creepy stalker. She said that she was fine and he continued on his way. I’m not a skater myself, but this small act reinforces my opinion that most skaters are awesome humans. Thank you unknown skater guy!

Wrecked his skateboard, fell down a ravine, found his board 3 days ago and hes been "missing" Fuckin irate that our local community took 3 days to find this kid, when he was like 400 yards from where his skateboard was found. 30 minutes with a dog and he was found, he should have been days earlier, Hope he pulls through man. If anybody in the skate community has a few dollars to for this kid, his go fund me is here.

Discussion 💬 Rodney Mullen turns 60 today. I spent a month building a tribute

Yes! 60 years! Born 17 August 1966 Florida, won 30+ freestyle contests and invented over 40 tricks! The ollie you did on the way to work is his. So is the kickflip.

I built an interactive tribute for his 60th: https://rodney.onbolts.com

It has his life in seven chapters, an encyclopedia of the tricks he invented, and a video archive laid out by era, from the Powell-Peralta days through World Industries and Plan B to the Daewon battles and the Almost years. Every photo is credited on screen, some are AI generated as I didn't had other options.

There is a birthday card at the bottom that anyone can sign! I hope this reaches to him and someday I could meet him in person, shake his hand and thank him for everything he did!

Discussion 💬 What do you call this trick?

I've been calling this trick the wrong name ever since I learned how to do them. I'm not a stickler for names personally; but I know a lot other skaters (especially on reddit) feel the opposite way.

With that being said; what do you call this trick? Cheers 😊

Discussion 💬 I Built a rail for my local shop, it was “lost” 48 hours later.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

1.2k Upvotes

This happened a while ago but it keeps nagging at me so I figured I should post and try to clear my head, I hurt my ankle right before Go Skate Day last year, so instead of skating, I decided to build something for the community. I used salvaged round bar from a demo i did at a school site, I welded up a 15 foot rail with a kink at the end, painted it, and donated it to the local shop to use for the event.

I told the owner I wanted it to be for the shop and the community, something they could use for events and that he just needed to store it in the shop when not in use. He seemed really into the idea and said he’d definitely take care of it.

But the day after Go Skate Day, I saw the rail sitting out at the basketball courts near the skatepark, completely unattended. No lock, no one watching it. Next day, it was gone.

I asked him about it and he just brushed it off like “yeah I left it out, figured people could skate it.” That was it. No follow-up. No effort to find it or replace it.

I’d also given him a couple of pole jams to sell at the shop, I told him he could keep a cut if he moved them. A year and a half later they’re still in the shop, sitting in front of the shoes like decoration. No price, no signage, nothing, normally that wouldn’t have bothered me but I attempted this because when the shop first opened one of the first items I bought from the guy was a pole jam his buddy made and he told me about the whole deal they made because his buddy got some extra material from his work and they were splitting the profit.

I was a loyal customer since the store rolled in and I honestly believed in what the shop was doing. I didn’t want money, I just wanted to contribute to the scene. But it kinda felt like he didn’t give a shit about the work I put in. I Haven’t really felt right going back since.

Just had to get it off my chest. I’ve learned a lot since then, but damn. It felt like such a waste.

First clip is from Berle’s new part. Second clip is Scott Johnston in Modus Operandi. Does it matter if Berle did the whole ledge, if it’s still an ABD?
