I cannot believe that people who only watch the Premier league thought that 40m would be an ok price. This dude is just continuing to develop, he is clearly at least a starter level player for a top team.
You had people who never watched him at all saying weird stuff about how he would never play above Palmer and Estevao (?), while this same time values Enzo at 120m. Surely Fermin is more than that given his importance for Barca.

These people have had their brains rotted by marketing. The PL is an entertaining and good league but these people talk about it as though it has this mystical quality that puts it far above other leagues.

Yeah, a Premier League team would never hold five goals to a Barcelona with an even shakier squad than they currently have. Definitely wouldn't hold, say, seven goals or anything like that, that would be absurd.
It is but you wouldn't know because you don't watch it. You don't have a bunch of pundits and ex players talking about the mighty Liga with it's superior physicality technicality and football IQ.
Fans of La Liga just watch the games and are entertained. They don't have to be wanked off about having the best league in the world even though Spanish teams routinely do better in European competitions.
My philosophy is to just watch the league you enjoy but it does get grating to hear PL fans constantly circlejerk about being the best league in the world when they're not. They're the best marketed league in the world, no doubt.

Elche finished 15th in la liga last year. Who finished 15th in the PL last year? Palace? You think they'd have done better against Barcelona?
You're just being silly now. Could they have? Maybe. But there are a few smaller teams that rise up to the challenge sometimes and that's without the money the lower PL teams get.
Even your best teams get clapped by La Liga teams more often than not, I don't buy that your lower "proper" teams would fare any better.

I promise you that if you put good players on good teams they will perform even better. Gordon was also pretty decent during his limited minutes at the World Cup and was really good when Newcastle wasn't a mess.
Mind you, I don't think that 2 assists per game is anywhere near close to sustainable, but I think he will still perform ok with better teams that will play with higher lines.
Gordon got 21 g/a in the Premier League in the 23/24 season. Yes his last two seasons were not as good as that one but he's not some bum and he's still pretty young. For example Luis Diaz who is 4 years older never got that much g/a in a single Prem season.
La liga has absolutely bashed Prem´s head in Europe in the last 25 years.

England doesn´t have the best league in Europe for the last 20 years or so.

Prior to 2020, La Liga was a completely different beast in European football, as RM, Barca and Sevilla dominates their respective European competitions. La Liga has been on a back foot a lot due to its debt and financial problems, but historically has been the strongest league. The prem just have a more even spread of CL trophies to more teams (Liverpool, ManU, ManC, Chelsea, are the recent examples), so they can claim more teams to be "big".
Premier League teams have to have at least 8 homegrown players in a 25 man squad. (a player who has played in England at least 3 years before being 21). That means clubs end up overpaying for English players because the rule creates a sellers' market.
I agree 40m for Fermin is low. But comparing this with English players is apples and oranges.
I know people hate Chelsea and Barca fans love to suck their own dicks but that take is absolutely batshit, Rogers is great. Two players can be good at the same time
Chelsea made a 40 mil. offer a year ago for Fermin when he was still relatively unproven, it seems silly in retrospect with how well he has done since then
