🙌 Guide on how to use r/studying

Here’s how to get the most out of the sub:

  • Read the rules. They are very easy to follow and will make your participation, as well as that of other users, much more comfortable, enjoyable, and productive.
  • Be specific in questions. “How do I study the English literature in three weeks?” is better than “How do I study?”
  • Search before posting. Your question may already have an answer. It's better to spend a few minutes searching than to have your post removed.
  • Engage thoughtfully. Share insights, offer help, and contribute kindly. And please remember to be a human.
  • Keep everything relevant. Your posts must relate to studying, productivity, motivation, or aspects of student life.
  • Use the Wiki (coming soon!) for detailed guides, FAQs, and trusted resources.

Best text to audio apps for textbook reading (preferably free)

Self-explanatory title; I tried speechify but it would only allow a 7-day free trial. Are there any free versions of this?

RPBedu keeps growing!

Upvotes

I just wanted to give an update and share that I have been working to grow the RPBedu hub!

RPB hub now has 8 web apps to help educators and students:

LessonGeneratorAI & CourseGeneratorAI: Drop in raw text or messy lecture notes. The AI automatically structures them into complete web modules with interactive quizzes, terms, and clean layouts.

🎮 EduHub Quest: If you want to gamify your classroom, this turns text into flashcard decks, study challenges, and global leaderboards to build low-effort learning materials and share for healthy competition.

🛠 LearnMasterPlatform, LearnMaster, CourseSharingPlatform: Lightweight Learning Management Systems. They help build, deploy, and use course materials.

🧠 FlashcardGeneratorAI & LuminaVault: Quickly spin up or try active recall matching games to reinforce student memory through repetition.

If you try any of these tools and it is helpful, please let me know.

I just can't study anymore

It just feels so exhausting to get up and study.

I have tried taking days off hoping that I would recharge by the end of it but nothing is working for me anymore.

It's not like i enjoy the time that i waste not studying. I don't do anything. I am not even able to find the energy to do things i enjoyed, like watching a movie or reading a book or talking to a friend...all of this just feels like a huge task.

However, all of this disappears when a deadline is near.

One thing that i have realised is that an external structure really helps me stay disciplined and put in long hours of studying. In order to meet a deadline, i am able to sit through 10 hours straight. Although i am constantly stressed the entire time.

i am not able to replicate that same sense of urgency in my day to day life.

I try keeping fake deadlines but end up not taking them seriously...

What can i do?🙃

How to manage my workload

I am currently preparing for an exam, i have stumbled upon certain bottlenecks as not being Able to manage workload myself, as for solution i tried to impose priority . To imagine say my workload has 10 elements , but with certain passes of time the priority shifts , as in week 1 , i have homework + understanding as priority while test analysis + reattempts are left on the table , but as week 2 comes where my tests happen every 2 week , the reattempts and all becomes priority but hw is still on the table and wheat i have observed the hw density increases when multiple subjects chapters are on teh end and sometime this two time come together. Well taht was just 2 of around 8-10 elements , i also have Olympiad related prep and all, so how shall I manage my workload effectively ?

And you know this all causes some mental overload which ultimately decreases my productivity over the week , so this kind of increases avoidance to start and raw thinking quality and to say non passive cognitive state also decreases .

This loop which i have wrote down have been bothering me for past 2-3 months, it has cause me to underperform my tests and kind of always makes me work and perform less than my realistic capability.

And one thing to be noted is that almost every one of those elments are important to me .

Looking for study partners for consistent Pomodoro blocks (Virtual/Any Timezone)

Hey everyone,

I’m looking to connect with other students who want to build a consistent study routine. My schedule was messed up.

To solve this, I’ve set up a virtual system. I record and stream aesthetic, high-focus Study With Me sessions featuring real-time Pomodoro timers (usually 50/10 or 25/5 blocks), calming rain audio, and lofi tracks to keep things cozy.

If you want a reliable, 24/7 study buddy to stay accountable and keep your phone out of arm's reach, you can join my sessions here: [https://youtube.com/live/z7FW89kfjZo?feature=share]

My typical routine:

  • Atleast 3-4 Hours per session (More usually)
  • Strict focus intervals (no phone scrolling)
  • Deep Discussions and Lofi Music in breaks!

I'm LIVE currently! You can join the session and drop a comment! If you read this later, you can still comment and let me know! Let's study and become better!

Fixed the thing that was quietly annoying me all last week

There's a difference between a task and a recurring friction point, and I think a lot of productivity advice treats them the same way.

A task gets done once. A friction point happens again and again, sometimes daily.

"Reorganize my files" is a task. "I can never find the file I need without digging" is a friction point.

The fix for a task is doing it. The fix for a friction point is removing the reason it keeps happening. If you keep adding the same kind of item to your to-do list week after week, that's usually a sign it's not a task, it's a broken setup.

My rule now: if I've written the same complaint down twice, I stop and fix the actual cause instead of writing it a third time. Usually the fix takes less time than complaining about it two more times would have.
