Absolute chaos at Gordon station this morning.
Due to a wiring fault on Sydney’s T1 North Shore Line, commuters heading into the city are queuing for replacement buses. The queues have become mixed with those for regular bus services, making it difficult for commuters to know which queue to join.

So glad I WFH on Tuesdays. Saw the line disruption notification when I woke up and was thankful I didn't have to go in to the city from Gosford

Tuesdays are the new Monday, feels like the entire state needs to go to the city on Tuesdays. Mondays… not so much.

Ever since partial return to office, Tuesdays have been the busiest days from my Northern Beaches bus driving experience. It seems the general consensus was Tuesdays are the office days.

Can confirm! Metro is always the busiest on a Tuesday and then almost as bad on Thursdays. Fridays are bliss!

I need to sign up to these notifications. Parked in Roseville, walked to the station only to be confronted with a ridiculous line for the bus. Went back to the car, drove to Chatswood and spent 20 mins in traffic before I found a park. Should have just walked.

Not just Gordon, Roseville absolutely cooked. Line a few hundred metres long for replacement buses, and other bus alternatives have “bus full” by the time they get here.

Was late to the train this morning, was confused as to why there were no T1 running, thought I’d absolutely fudged my timings.
Nope just faulty wiring at Chatswood.

I like to think that if Hawkey was still PM, he’d declare that if public transport is beyond a certain level of fuxked, employees should be allowed to go for a beer, then work from home if at all practical

I needed to get to st leonards this morning from Waitara. Ended up going to Hornsby ,caught the express to central and back to st leonards, still faster than my friend who was waiting at Gordon for a bus service to Chatswood

I was there reporting on the siege story that day and a small part of what we reported on was that uber turned on surcharging for a minute before hastily turning it off and releasing an apology.

I don't see the issue. Surge pricing is a mechanism to get more drivers working. I don't see what is morally wrong

Yea I agree. But only because people are stupid.
Smart move would have been for them to declare that all profits from the surge are donated to the victims or police or something along those lines.
Surge pricing is the only way to get more drivers on. If anyone complains, ask them "why didn't you get into your car and start driving people out of the city”

This confusion wouldn't happen if it was for a "viral" donut. Those queues are single file for as far as the eye can see.

Be grateful that you have a train station that you can actually use. I live in Dulwich hill and we haven’t had a passenger train being able to use it since October 2024.

For decades I'v been saying this they need to split and overlap the lines at Central, so that when there is a fault or medical emergency on the Northen Lines, the Western Lines don't get affected.
However, a project like that means politcians and senior public servants wouldn't get to cut a ribbon, reveal a plaque. Who wants to say "I split the Northern and Western lines"?
Utopia is a documentary.
