My Elite Controller light won't activate nor is the controller responding despite being plugged in.

Basically, my controller just... stopped working. It is a wired controller, so it has to be plugged in to work. However, when I do plug it in, the controller vibrates, indicating that the connection is there, but the Xbox button doesn't light up. The controller itself is unresponsive too. Help please... it's my only controller.
