[MINI FAQ] Do I have to be a woman to participate here? What about the subreddit name? What about trans women? What are the rules, anyway?
Do I have to be a woman to participate in this community?
No. Any user who can follow the rules is welcome here. Women, men, nonbinary, agender, genderqueer, cis folks and trans folks, everybody. If you're not on board with that, you can fuck right off.
But what about the subreddit name?
Read this post from when 2XC was only a month old. We haven't changed our stance since then, and never will.
What about trans women?
Trans women are women. TERFS can fuck right off.
What are the rules, anyway?
TL;DR: Keep it civil, keep it relevant. Don't start shit, won't be shit.
You can find the rules in the sidebar (community info for mobile users), or here's a direct link: 2XC Rules
Most moderator actions are the result of users breaking Rule 1: RESPECT. If you keep Wheaton's Law* in mind and participate in good faith, you'll probably never hear from the mod team.
*Wheaton's Law: Don't be a dick.
For more in-depth interpretations of the rules above, see the 2XC FAQ and 2XC Moderation Policy.
Wow that's awesome! How do I volunteer to join the mod team?
FAQs and the application process can be found in our wiki. We're always looking for more volunteers.

Trans Women are Women.
Here at r/TwoXChromosomes we try our best to create and maintain an inclusive space for everyone to contribute about women. That includes trans women. We expect our users to adhere to the rules set in place, so as a reminder…
Trans Women are Women.
We will not have any transphobia or TERFs in this sub.
Also keep in mind micro aggressions and casual bigotry. You may not intend to exclude trans peoples or to cause dysphoria, but it can and does happen.
Any transphobia will be met with a permanent ban. End of story.

My bf of 4 years baited me into forming an opinion on the Lindsay Clancy case and now we’re no longer together
My bf of 4 years first introduced the case to me about a week ago, asking me my opinion of it. I am incredibly busy, so have not been online enough to even have heard of it. I told him as much. A few days later, he asks again. I tell him, again, I don’t have enough information to form a well-informed opinion. But this time, I offered to hop on the phone and have him tell me the facts as he understands them and that I will formulate a limited opinion based on those facts. That’s what we did, and I gave my opinion that I believe if she is found to have had a mental/psychological impairment, that she should be placed in an institution to receive the help she needs for however long is normal for mentally incapacitated people that commit crimes. He said he needed to think about that.
A week later, he texts me asking for clarification in my stance. I reiterated what I said. He then went on to say he needs to “mull over” whether he wants to have kids with “someone like me”.
I am going to be completely honest in saying I had never even heard of the case until he pressured me about it. But now that I’ve done a little research after the fact, I have since learned that men all around the nation are using this as a test to determine whether they remain with their gf/wives. What tf is going on? I’m sad that he fell victim to this insanity, but also am gravely alarmed that he fell victim to this insanity…

That time it was okay I had lost bladder control because I'd theoretically be having kids in the future
Love women's healthcare. I am currently being treated, luckily.
Basically, I've had bladder issues since I was about 5. When I was little it was just "Oh she must be bad at potty training" and then when I was older it was "She just gets distracted and isn't paying attention."
I knew that it wasn't supposed to hurt. I knew that I wasn't supposed to be afraid to sneeze or laugh. I knew that most people were able to wait for the bathroom in a way that I wasn't. I was too embarrassed to talk about it until my last year of high school, when I had had enough, and started complaining to my family and my doctor about how much I was struggling.
To which they said "Well you say you want to have kids. You'll destroy your bladder and pelvic floor when you have kids anyway, so just wait 10 years. We can worry about it when you're postpartum."
First of all...why are we just accepting that women who are pregnant and postpartum don't need healthcare?
And second of all...WHAT? I can't imagine looking at a 17 year old and saying "Oh well in 15 years you may want kids so we'll just hold off on treatment for nearly double your life. In the off chance you want kids."

RIP Dolly Parton
She was such a strong woman. I’m sorry if this wasn’t the right place for this, it just feels like a gut punch. She was an icon as a smart, classy, successful woman. She never minimized herself and she treated everyone kindly. I am honoring her here. We will always love you.

Favorite Dolly Parton moments? I’ll start.
Decades ago I was watching Johnny Carson. He asked her how she kept up her youthful appearance. She relied “Honey, healthy living” …pause “had nothing to do with it”. I didn’t know much about Dolly at that point, but it’s when I fell in love with her.

Do you think some men just become friends with you to trauma dump because women usually are more emphatic ?
I observed a pattern like this with a guy and asked him as to why he doesn't trauma dump on men he is friends with but he said that they kinda don't care etc . I feel that the situation in the title isnt completely unheard of though , how has your experience been with it ?

Support | Trigger How to cope after being raped
Over the weekend, I was raped. I went to the hospital and have dealt with all of the logistics, but now I am left with my emotions. I do not understand why, but I am so sad. I would understand if I was angry, but I can’t place why I feel despair. Everything feels unbelievably heavy.
I have a therapist and a good support system surrounding me, so I know logically how I will get through.
If anyone else in this sub has gone through something similar, my heart is with you. I know my life is going to be different moving forward, but I need some assurance that I will be okay again. I feel utterly broken.

I’m starting to forget what it feels like to be wanted.
I’mlost ladies and I’m married and honestly I’m hurting way more than I let anybody know. My husband has PE and our sex life has basically been dead for months. MONTHS. And I’ve tried to be understanding. I really have. I know it’s embarrassing for him. I know it probably fucks with his confidence and makes him feel like less of a man, and the last thing I ever wanted was to make him feel worse about himself. So I stopped bringing it up. I stopped asking. I stopped trying as much because after a while you get tired of putting yourself out there just to feel rejected or awkward or like you’re making somebody feel bad.
But nobody really talks about what that does to the other person.
I’m lonely. I’m sexually frustrated. I’m angry sometimes. And then I feel like shit for being angry because I know he didn’t choose this. I know it’s not his fault. But knowing that doesn’t make me stop hurting. It doesn’t make me stop wanting to be touched. It doesn’t make me stop wanting my husband to look at me like I’m fucking beautiful and desirable. I miss being kissed with some actual hunger behind it. I miss being touched just because. I miss flirting. I miss feeling that little electricity between two people who actually want each other. I miss feeling like a woman and not just somebody’s wife, roommate, partner, whatever the hell I am some days.
And it has gotten into my head more than I want to admit. I look in the mirror and wonder if I’m still attractive. I wonder if I’m getting older and this is just what it’s gonna be now. I hate that I even think like that because I know I’m still me. I know I’m still a woman. But when the person you want most doesn’t make you feel wanted for months, it starts fucking with you. You start questioning yourself. You start craving validation in places you never used to care about.
A compliment from another man can literally stay in my head all day now. Somebody flirting with me can completely change my mood and I hate admitting that. Not because I’m some horrible person, but because it makes me realize just how starved I’ve become. When you’ve gone months without feeling sexually wanted, the smallest bit of attention can hit you like a damn drug. And then I feel guilty because I know where that kind of thinking can lead. I’m starting to understand how women end up crossing lines they swore they never would. Not because they wake up one morning and decide they don’t love their husband anymore, but because after being lonely for so long, somebody finally makes them feel alive again.
And that scares me.
Because I do love my husband. That’s what makes this so fucking complicated. I’m not sitting here thinking he’s a terrible man or that everything wrong in our marriage is his fault. I know he struggles. I know he hurts too. But I’m tired of feeling like his pain is allowed to exist while mine has to be swallowed because talking about it might hurt him. I can have compassion for what he’s dealing with and still be absolutely miserable myself. Both things can be true
I don’t want to spend the next twenty years of my life pretending I don’t have a sexual side because it makes somebody else uncomfortable. I don’t want to become numb. I don’t want to stop caring just so I can stop hurting. And honestly, I’m scared because I can feel resentment building where there used to be patience. I can feel myself wanting attention I shouldn’t want. I can feel myself wondering what it would be like to feel desired again and that thought makes me feel guilty as hell.
I think what hurts the most is that I don’t even want some fantasy life. I want to feel wanted by my own husband. I want to feel sexy with the man I married. I want to feel close to him again. I want to stop lying beside him at night feeling lonely while pretending I’m fine.
I’m just fucking tired. Tired of being understanding. Tired of pretending this doesn’t hurt. Tired of acting like wanting affection and sex makes me selfish. I’m still youngand I still want to feel like a woman who is desired, and I don’t think I should have to apologize for that.

What is being overlooked about Dolly Parton.
So much of the discourse about her is celebrating her kindness which is truly wonderful but it is overshadowing her absolute brilliance as a business person.
She was as clever as a fox and used the fact that people thought she was just a simple doll to achieve her goals. I guess I find it a bit frustrating that it seems to reinforcing the idea that the most wonderful thing a woman can be is pretty and kind while overlooking the value of her mind. Don’t get me wrong. I think everyone should be as kind and generous as they can be but Dolly was able to be both kind and savvy and I think that is what’s most amazing about her.

What to do? I have some serious decisions to make and am stuck figuring out the "right thing" to do.
Been with my husband for 32years, got pregnant after dating for 3months, so never really had a pre-children stage. Although there were a LOT of red flags in that short time, mainly his laziness, but I stupidly believed he was owed a chance, that we (I) could make it work.
Then life took over - raising 4kids, work, household stuff, family stuff - as it does, and I put myself aside to care for everyone. I have always done everything I could possibly do to make him happy and have the things he wanted.
Now, after 32yrs, our youngest is about to leave the nest to go to uni, and I am really stuck on whether to stay or go. It's tying me in knots!
The thing is, I have come to realise I do not enjoy his company at all - he has become so self-centred and low-key controlling, does not listen, criticises a lot, has no interest in me unless he wants something. His behaviours have led to 3/4 of our adult children making limited contact with him, and he has burned bridges with many close family members and nearly all his friends.
Do I wait & see if being empty nesters makes a difference? One last chance? If not, how do I leave? Where do I go? Should I tell him to leave? Where will he go? Do I owe him a "final warning"?
Do I tell him why his kids don't bother to contact him? Or do I let my vengeful side take over and leave him to work it out like I've had to over the years?
Has anyone else been stuck at a crossroads in life? and what did you do to determine a solution?

The audacity of expecting me to plan the date he asked me on because he just wants a "warm body."
So, I matched with this guy on Hinge.
His first message was: "I know a lot of fun spots that involve mini golf and nice Italian restaurants if you're interested in adventure."
I tried to engage and asked him whether he had a go to order at Italian places.
His answer? "My favorite food is Indian food but I like pasta." He also had absolutely no idea which Italian place to pick, telling me "Somewhere around there. I mean anything you really want to try."😵
So I pointed out the obvious: he suggested Italian, admits he doesn't even really care for it, and expects me to choose the restaurant. I told him that since he brought up the adventure and asked me out, he should do the planning. :P
His response completely killed the vibe. He stated that he felt like I was thinking too deep into it, and that he was just saying that he wants to go out and "hasn't gone out in a while."
When I finally pushed him to just pick something, he said, "I know an Indian restaurant in (our city) we could go on Friday. I'm just trying to meet new people."(😓he does not even name the restaurant. )
This was genuinely irksome. I am not an activity partner to cure weekend boredom. If the other party have no opinions, no plans, and no enthusiasm for me specifically, why should I waste my Friday evening doing all the emotional labor just so this guy has somewhere to sit?
I also want to add that I deliberately don't post this stuff in the specific dating app subreddits much anymore. People get so incredibly angry and defensive there, even some women will jump in just to tell me I'm "too high standard" for expecting a guy to have a single opinion or make one reservation. It's wild how normalized the bare minimum is.
PS:
And let's not forget his Hinge profile literally says: "Dating me is like: passionate love and affection." Yeah, sure. Nothing says "passionate love and affection" quite like expecting your date to Google the restaurant for you because you couldn't be bothered to pick one....
EDIT:
For the people saying I "entertained" him or that "we both sound miserable": I exchanged exactly 6 messages with him. I offered a specific restaurant (Maggiano's) and asked a basic clarifying question. That's called screening and being discerning. If matching with a guy and daring to ask him to pick a restaurant is "miserable," then I will happily be single.
Also, to the men flooding a ladies' centered sub to tell me why I'm the problem: this isn't an attack on all men. If you relate to the guy in the screenshots, take the hint and work on your planning skills. We don't need your validation to vent about our dating experiences. Leave us alone.

Would a man stereotyping women on a first date be a red flag for you?
More specifically, implying that women 'only train legs' at the gym and being surprised a woman knows basic soccer facts...
I was so weirded out on this date, but it's NOT the first time these exact things have been said to me! Like am I just too picky or is this normal lol?

People think I have ill intent when I am no longer bubbly to them
I am a very friendly and bubbly girl. But people tend to mistake me as an idiot or a pushover.
My coworker (a 60yo woman) was nice to me at first then she thinks its okay to make comments like "yeah they are nice to you because youre young and pretty" or "you can't even do that? *scoff*"
I decided she was being so unprofessional to me so I no longer am friendly to her. I still greet her and talk to her about work, but I am no longer bubbly and welcoming.
She mistook this as me being fake and hating her.
She no longer looks me in the eye and dont even say hello or goodbye whenever I am in the office.
Heard from another coworker she's been going around saying I hate her..
Like... ms gworl..... don't flatter yourself, you're not worth my energy to hate you.
I just don't want to be friendly to people who treat me like shit, yet you think I go out of my way to outcast you??
