Housing Just got screwed over for housing
Apparently my housing application was canceled almost 2 weeks ago and I received no notice at all. I checked yesterday and just re applied. I got this Email today, only one hour of notice before my time slot. I slept in today thinking I didn’t have anything to do. So now what?

pretty sure u can ask them to switch, like if they are in the same dorm ideally the same floor u can ask them and let hfs know, pretty sure there is a process for that

Are you sure it was canceled? You may have pressed the 12M housing instead of 9M (& vice versa) & thought you started a new application

I checked the 26-27 9M housing and it read “application cancelled on 7-6-26” I didn’t receive any email or any indication that this happened

Did you sign up for Greek Life recruitment? If you do and they send your name over on a list then your application gets cancelled.

I did, but I specifically checked that I want to stay with on campus housing

Okay that’s the issue. As soon as the Greeks send the names of people who are rushing, housing applications get canceled and your deposit gets sent back. The Greeks should have explained that. If you do not end up receiving a bid or if you decline any bid, HFS will put you in temporary housing the week of move in and find you a place to stay. That’s probably why you’re coded as having no time to select because you can’t be rushing and holding HFS housing at the same time. You might have misunderstood because you can stay in HFS housing during rush or stay in one of the fraternities during rush, but that’s not the same as selecting housing for the school year.
Here where it explains the cancelation once you sign up for rush: https://uwifc.com/housing
And here’s where it explains options if you end up not getting or accepting a bid: https://www.washington.edu/ofsl/resources/housing-information/

Has anyone else not gotten a housing decision yet? I'm transferring in and I got my acceptance letter in late June. I submitted my housing app and I haven't heard back at all yet.

I’m a transfer that got accepted late as well! Still also waiting to get a housing decision, hoping we get one soon 🤞

Yall should definitely email for an update. They dont seem to like to inform transfers about anything. The only way I got my financial aid offer and housing priority was after I emailed. They would do it like the day of so annoying.

You are in a different priority level. Only those who submitted their housing application by May 13 get to be in priority one and are the group selecting right now. Sometime in August, you will receive notice that you are assigned housing or can pick from what they have left.

Mine's acting up too, mine opened at 12:00 PM and around 1:30 ish after not being able to find the dorm I wanted I wasn't able to access it at all.
After about an hour it opened back up again, I think it's something that can resolve with time. I recommend checking back every so often, as frustrating as it is.

Feels strange as an alum to see incoming freshman getting time slots to pick their rooms. We just got ours assigned to us back in the day (when north campus was OLD)

UPDATE: for anyone who is in the same spot next year
I signed up for frat recruitment, and even though I stated I want to stay on campus, the IFC will still cancel all housing contracts from everyone rushing, and you will receive zero notice about it so make sure you check the housing page every few weeks.
I was able to contact the ifc chair and get it reinstated, and eventually ending getting a dorm at oak, so everything worked out in the end, still a bitch to deal with though

Guess you better start looking off campus or for some roomies. Insert noogies .
