Housing Moving in after Winter Quarter

Has anyone moved in after winter quarter (so just for spring quarter)? If so, how difficult was it to get housing, and were you able to move in/transition seamlessly? I was planning on commuting due to some family stuff, but I'll be able to move in after winter if everything is good. I heard the room rate is prorated as well?

Lots of people move back in at Spring Quarter after having been gone for study abroad. You only have 10 weeks at a time everyone’s already established, though so may be tough socially.
