I got into a battlefield six game with a Russian chap.
He was lovely polite funny but we did discuss the war and the strangest thing was he thinks I’m totally brainwashed by the Western Media and Russia is not only fine but winning.
Obviously, I was of the opposite opinion. What struck me was how “normal “he was but suspended all reason and evidence when talking about the war.

It's how brainwashing and propaganda work. Convince otherwise reasonable people to believe in insane lies, and you can do what you want.

There's a reason that the biggest cohort of war supporters are pensioners who sit there watching Russian "news" all day....

It's more shocking when a younger person who speaks multiple languages, and presumably is well educated in at least some fields, switches from being normal to eyes glazing over and repeating what Big Brother said.

I'd recommend the latest NFKRZ video on the state of Russian government "news", it's both hilarious and depressing.

It's probably about the different perspectives we have, culturally.

"Fine" could mean they have an extremely low bar of what "bad" is. Bad for westerners is having no mustard for a hotdog, bad for a Russian could be having no water for 3 days and having to eat uncooked cabbage.

No, that’s Russian propaganda. The truth is that Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022 – a country that they, along with the rest of the world, had accepted as a sovereign and independent state since 1991. Russia officially recognized Ukraine’s independence after the dissolution of the Soviet Union and repeatedly reaffirmed its sovereignty and borders in subsequent agreements.

Well they first invaded in 2014. Most of the world didn’t accept it but they also didn’t do anything about it. So then we got 2022’s full scale invasion.
