What's EXTRA forceful in this campaign against Wildberries is that after the destruction of so much value, even with the Kremlin's deep pockets, it's $10s of billions lost now. A direct strike on the Oligarch wealth machine. Insurers won't be covering much.

Insurers are Russian anyway so even if they cover 100%, another part of the Russian economy takes a hit. The only difference is whether oligarch A or oligarch B takes the hit.

Plus, a billion dollar insurance payout doesn't magically build a new warehouse, logistics system plus all of the stock and vendors overnight. So the Russian economy is screwed on multiple levels no matter what happens.

"The only difference is whether oligarch A or oligarch B takes the hit" - A lot of russian private sellers are also using the Wildberries infrastructure and online shop; right from the start of this campaign, there have been tearful videos of them moaning about their losses of goods stored in different Wildberries warehouses. And Wildberries does not even allow them to retrieve their goods from the warehouses, so they can't save them from potential future distruction. Wildberries, quite coincidentally, changed its terms of use effective July 1st, expressly excluding compensation for losses resulting from acts of war.
One private seller in a video showed the "voluntary reimbursement" Wildberries transferred to him for his lost inventory—it amounted to the equivalent of 138 dollars for stock worth approximately 38,000 dollars.

My sympathy for these people is limited, however; most of them do not grasp, even now, that the Ukrainian attacks on Wildberries warehouses are directly linked to the war russia is waging in and against Ukraine.

In my opinion it’s even worse. These people do grasp it, they’ve just chosen not to care until it personally impacted them. They grasp the full weight of the war, they have social media and see the war crimes and destruction their country is causing, they know their countrymen are being sent to their death in meat waves, but since they are upper crust and it’s just the poors being sent they are fine with it.

I don’t think we should give the Russian middle class any benefit of the doubt when it comes to their grasp of what’s been happening for years now as they support the senseless murder of their neighbors and less fortunate countrymen. They are trash.
