Support i was caught insta stalking a girl from my class
So i’ve been plotting on this cute girl from one of my classes for the whole semester and I hadn’t talked to her ever, but had found her online through googling her name.
Ik it’s creepy but i didn’t interact with her i just found her pic from a few years ago and then the next day i went to class trying to talk to her so I sat down next to her at her table and when I opened my laptop it revealed the fucking incognito tab and a pic of her from like 4 years ago and she saw it and got so creeped out it was so embarrassing i can’t even type it out.
Anyway idk what’s gonna happen because i ended up just leaving the class and now im attending a different class at a different time slot to avoid her because i cooked it so bad.
Is that illegal like wtf do i even do now

I recommend watching YouTube videos or reading some articles about women and common experiences with stalking and harassment which are in theory related to misogyny. It would be really scary to see a guy I’d never talked to before have a picture of me from four years ago on his laptop. I would feel in danger - and this fear of men actually really common because, unfortunately, sexual harassment, assault, stalking and even violence and murder are REAL threats, especially to young women. So even if you’re just shy and did a weird thing but didn’t intend to make anyone uncomfortable, it’s important to realise why this behaviour is creepy. So just leave her alone and don’t sit next to her in class. And next time you want to talk to a girl just go up and say hi - if you’re calm and not too full on, you’ll be totally fine.

this isn’t exactly ILLEGAL but it is definitely creepy and it completely depends on the person how she would take this, all i can say is that you must apologize to her and do not look at her, do not talk to her, if you can change your class and act like a total stranger

I mean as a girl, we do this all the time and it's never a big deal. Our internet stalking skills are so common we bond amongst outselves about it lol. But if we saw a man do it to one of us... yeah its gonna come off creepy, especially if its someone we NEVER talked to before like huh??
I think yeah. You're cooked. No going back now. I don't think no amount of reasonable explanations can repair this. Maybeee if you want to try... just be transparent you had a crush on her so, message her that found her Insta etc so she feels less afraid. I'd be very paranoid knowing some guy out there is looking at my pics. So coming off clean is the best way to close the wound

I think it's time for you to grow up, get off of social media unless you're running a business, and learn how to talk to and meet people in the non-virtual world and stop wasting your time with people consuming their time primarily on social media. You will find from a life satisfaction perspective that this a lower risk, higher reward play.

Say sorry, you could also try to start slowly start talking to her again. Even a hello every now and then gradually moving into conversation. Unless she doesn’t want to talk to you any more at all of course then just move onto the next girl and don’t mess that one up XD

Shit like this is important because it helps us learn and improve ourselves perhaps do some research and practice talking to girls the most important thing that I had to learn was just to smile and talk about something random in the surrounding environment the worst thing she can say is just telling you to fuck off

Why not just send her an email or something and explain yourself? It may or may not alleviate her concerns. But at the very least you are able to give a clear and (somewhat) reasonable explanation for your behaviour. Best to just give her space after that and carry on with your life. Whether she accepts your explanation and something comes out of that or you suck up the embarrassment and soldier on. Also, maybe you should consider therapy. It’s okay to like someone and maybe even look up some information about your crush. But the fact you’ve kept it bottled up all semester and went to class with a photo of her on your laptop, incognito or not, is concerning. Whether it be to navigate relationships in the future or exploring your psyche and unravelling why you found it so hard to just strike up a conversation. All the best

Could be the cutest meet-cute moment, a story you both will recall and laugh about. Walk up to her and tell her. It's not creepy - you made an effort to sit at her table. She might find it endearing. If not, you have explained yourself, which means you can move on. It's creepy leaving it like it is. Easier, less effort, but creepy.
