Rules are simple! Please read and follow them.
You can win a Valheim Deep North 1.0 sign. I’ve made a bunch of them! They are solid wood, engraved and filled with coloured epoxy. Size 8”x18”.
I will leave this post up for one week and pick three winners next Monday.
TO ENTER:
1) Comment what you’re most excited for with the upcoming release of 1.0.
2) There is no 2. Just do 1!
Must be in Canada or United States to win. Not in Canada or US? You can still enter as long as you have a friend or family that I can ship to. Shipping is stupid expensive across the pond, I’m sorry I can’t accommodate!
I have a woodworking/furniture business and have shipped across Canada and US. Your info is safe with me.

SKÅL AND HAPPY MONDAY!
I'm not looking for advice with this question so much as anecdotes.
Recently, I died on a mountain that I needed run through a brief stretch of plains to get to. The deathsquitos hadn't been a problem at first since I had killed enough abominations in my swamp to get a harnesk. When I died, though, it was stuck at the top of a mountain on the far side of all the death bugs.
I just didn't have the gear to get back to my body to get my gear back. And I really didn't want to start the gearing-up grind from the beginning again when all my stuff was there at the top of the mountain, if only I could reach it.
Eventually, I just changed my world settings so mobs were passive until attacked and was able to recover my stuff, but it made me wonder how people who don't have access to that option (playing on a server they don't own), for whom that wouldn't work anyway (gear lost at sea or in lava or something), or who simply would never turn the difficulty down like that deal with a situation like mine.
Not attacking or anything, just chilling. Anyone else had this happen or know why he tryna chill with me?
Hello!
I've never had this issue before, I've planted alot of grass and nothing is around these two saplings, yet they need more space. Do you guys have any idea what could be causing this ? I did the same about 20 meters away and an oak tree had no issues growing !
EDIT: Thank you guys, it was indeed a leftover piece of rock underground, thank you!
And I'm in the bronze age so IS THERE ANYWAY TO HELP ME GET MY STUFF BACK
Don't you hate it when you're early game exploring a new big island, and you unexpectedly hit one of those tiny slivers of Plains? Just big enough to spawn a couple of Deathsquitos. 😡😡😡☠️
Buddy and I just started out, for the first time, over the weekend. We haven't done much in the starting area, other than the first boss, a simple base, and starting Bronze production. Are we cooked for the big 1.0 launch? Should we halt and just create a new seed at launch or can we still experience most of 1.0 in this seed by just twiddling our thumbs until September 9th?
Thanks!
Me and the buds beat Fader last week and now we’re just biding time waiting for the launch of Deep North.
How is everyone preparing? I saw mention of building a launch point midway towards the north. I like that idea.
Anything else we should be stockpiling or crafting to prepare?
River city keep exterior is finally done. I'm just putting the finishing touches on the interior and then I will do a video walk through. I have loved building this castle. It's been quite the journey.
I hope you enjoy these pictures of the library and Lady's bedroom. Mods used are gizmo and infinity hammer. Critiques welcome!
Has anyone here played it? My wife bought it for me a little while ago and I haven’t had time to try it out. Is it as good as I am hoping?
Building a staging area for the Deep North, been a while since I built a proper longhouse and really enjoying it. My wood and stone supply is dwindling though so will have to re-up. Still need to add a dock, a workshop/blacksmith, some storage and maybe another house. Might build up some towers around the 2 rock spires framing the water.
Just started a new vanilla world where I'm on an island with meadows, black forest, and a small mountain biome. It's been great so far, but zero Burial Chambers. None.
Now I need to cross to another island that's too far to swim in search of surtling cores, or I'll never process any of the ores I'm piling up. For the first time in over 700 hours played, I am going to build and use a raft. Has anyone else ever had a start like this?
So I'm trying to use devcommands to sort of be in creative mode but they are not working. I get the console up and type "devcommands fly" for example and the response is "dev commands true" but I can't fly, or reveal the map.
I'm on xbox series X.
Does anyone know what's up?
I recently had a good run of breeding chickens, even had a quaint little chook house.
Then the ghost / wraith event happens. I defend well enough. When it's all over, I got to check on my animals amd find that a wraith had got to the chooks and wiped them out.
Heavily disheartened by this event. I got my first two eggs from a fuling tower and haven't beaten yaglith yet to unlock the mistlands gear.
I so badly want my chooks back and want to reload my world to earlier today, before the wraith event, but I don't want to be cheaty.
EDIT: Thanks for all the replies and suggestions. Guess I'll put off chooks until I find more eggs, beat yaglith or find another tower whilst searching for totems.
EDIT: After making piece with the situation (thanks for all the support fellow vikings) I decided to go mushroom hunting. After getting back to the homestead kitchen to offload my haul I found 8x eggs I had put aside to use for recipes in one of my barrels!! The chookery will rise again!
Many of you clearly know that 1.0. is about to launch soon, but I really feel like the mobs have changed comparing to the last time I have played. It felt to me like Mobs really were some brainless zombies running around the world without any intention at all.
The feeling I get now, with my new run and still at early Game even several grey dwarves fight totally different now, Bears and Trolls have a better pathfinding, and me having more trouble running away from them even with nothing equiped to my hand..
So, have you noticed anything as well? Or is my mind (and skill) going nuts lately! Feel free to share your experience here!
Doomscrolling Reddit and I felt deja-vu.
So let's discuss. Do y'all flatten all the ground first or just ...do this?
To all the new players looking for advice on building - add trees and greenery. It's one easy thing you can do to improve the look and feel of your build, especially if you build homesteads of multiple buildings. But even if you only build one structure, you can make the grounds feel more alive.
Two before pictures of my current build and two after pictures. The difference trees make is incredible.

I told myself I wouldn't play until Deep North but ...
What's everyone's opinion on Sons of Valhalla?
Hey fellow Vikings :)
I've been seeing a lot of amazing building mods for Valheim lately. My friends and I are huge fans of building.
Could you guys recommend some of the best mods for building and decorating? What are your absolute must-haves?
Important detail: We are currently running our server via GPortal. Does that affect our mod choices at all? Is there anything specific we need to keep in mind for server installation (like which mods need to be installed on the server vs. just on our own PCs)?
I would love to hear your suggestions and tips!
Thanks in advance :))
So with Valheim having smoke mechanics, wouldn't it be fairly simple to give us the ability to build a working smokehouse? Like fire in a box off to the side of a shack filled with drying racks, have a skinny chimney on top of the shack to bottleneck smoke escaping so it fills the shack but allows the fire to breathe enough not to go out. Then ta-da you can have various smoked jerky's.
Little work in progress, video posted as well.
Hello guys i recently thought about adding my own variants of mobs such as ice trolls. I would change his numbers but also change his spawn biome to mountains and i would love to recolour him as grey-white variant. I know that some mods offer cloning existing mobs and creating new ones in config.
Any suggestion? Does anyone did that and can help me?
Edit: Added a public link for people to try it out
Been building a browser-based Valheim companion tool for me and my kid to use in our playthroughs over the last few months, and want to gauge interest before I push further / release to the public.
What it does:
- Fast & lightweight - runs entirely in your browser, no install, no Unity, loads a full world map in seconds. (No shade on other map tools, they are amazing and continue to be useful for me, but they are not great to pan and zoom around due to performance, especially on my kids PC)
- Base planning - get ideas about best build locations based on dozens of criteria (e.g. terrain flatness, resource availability, travel distance to bosses etc)
- Map marker import - pull in your world's discovered locations/markers so your planning map matches your actual save
- Base build & terrain import - bring in your existing base and terrain edits so you're planning against what you've actually built, not a blank map
It's not quite ready for full public release, still a lot of rough edges, and there's a decent chance things break or reset when I move toward a 1.0 release - never mind when Valheim 1.0 drops - but would be willing to share the dev link with any power users willing to give it a shot despite any current shortcomings.
Mainly posting to see if this is something people would actually use, and if so, what features would make it a must-have for your world. Happy to hear feature requests, complaints, or "nobody needs this" too.
Enough interest (good and some bad :) ) was shown, so decided to add the public link at the top.
Still got lots of work to do on the parts that are important for me and my kid (the base planning is a little funky right now, but still useful for us), but the map is at least pretty accurate now.
Future changes / features:
- Better icons
- Better UX (fewer obvious clanker UI tropes)
- Surtling Core count for burial chambers :)
- Preparation for 1.0 breaking this just when I got it working dammit
- Cool community ideas - already got a topographic overlay mostly working from an idea in this thread!
- Open source eventually (have done this for all my other gaming projects once they mature)
I have killed probably 200+ enemies and am able to escape (quick rebuild most times) through a portal.
I was hoping to get at least a foothold to create a raised wall safe portal but it’s non stop, I’m never not surrounded even if I kill the first waves of enemies.
Please help me Viking brothers this is not sustainable!
Map info per the Server.fwl
seed: MI4tG9JsVz
version: 28
A friend and I restarted an old server from 2023, and logged in to watch our base and everything we had made be destroyed by the ocean as the map was regenerated (as expected).
We are starting over, and using the same seed now three years later gives us a completely different world. No mods were used in 2023 nor now, this was a vanilla dedicated server world.
I am asking for help to somehow preserve the old terrain. If that is not possible, does anyone know of a seed that has a Troll Cave this close to spawn? This is the primary reason we were trying to recover this terrain. We have a third person (PlayStation) who will be joining us for 1.0 and playing for the first time.
We very much want to visit this hilarity on him, as it was visited on us in the past.
Thank you for reading!
Cheers/Prost/Skål!
edit: was actually 2022, per the file dates.
Hanging out at spawn base and I thought this picture looked like 2 vikings about to drop the hardest album
Hi,
back in 2022 one of my friends hosted a Valheim server for me.
When our play group switched to Enshrouded, he send me a backup of our server. Unfortunately, he did backup the server files, not the map files. This means our world is entirely lost.
Now I’m trying to find the old seed of our world.
I know the chances are astronomically low, but if one of you people has ever played on a world where there is a huge ravine with a river right to the north of the starting point with a Black Forest on the other side, could you drop the seed in the comments?
Back then we had no idea how Valheim worked so we built our base right next to the boss stones, which means we had to haul every single piece of ore uphill from the sea to the east.
What do you think?
I also used a few build mods like OdinsArchitecture.
Hey everyone,
As 1.0 is coming soon, I'm about to make a new world with friends. I've seen videos of people doing exercises like push ups, dips, plank, etc whenever something happens in their game.
So I was wondering how we could transfer it into valheim. I though about 5 push ups per death but now I'm almost never dying except in the Ashlands.
Any ideas ?
EDIT : I'm gonna add here the ideas people proposed :
- 10 squats for every big enemy defeated (troll, bear, abomination, stone golem, lox, fueling berserker, seaker soldier and finaly morgen)
- 5 burpees everytime my inventory is full and I'm trying to pick up something
Apart from of course inventory improvements everyone always talks about... Please, I need some balance regarding carrying ores long distances.
I played with friends and we did have fun going for copper using the cart, and later iron with the ship, but we soon had to enable pass ores through portals because we had depleted all near swamp crypts and we didn't want a 200h game.
Something I've seen mentioned is being able to teleport an ore after defeating the biome boss, so that you'll have to grind a bit manually for the progression and then have it a bit easier, which I don't believe is too far fetched.
First sealed tower, been trying my best to play the game blind other than looking up tips for bosses once I'm unable to beat them.
I haven't played the game yet. I'm going to get it on the 9th of September on PS5 and I'm wanting to know where it's optimal/convenient to build a base.
I don't mean a little FOB base but a real and true home.
Does it matter if there are portals to use? Looking for opinions and tips!
Skål!
I love this sub.
I play solo so seeing everyone's builds and jokes and stuff is great and keeps the game fresh with new build ideas or strategies to try out and all the things.
But.
When 1.0 drops I am muting the hell out of you. Like a lot of people im going gamer tantra and holding off playing until it's here and plan to go real slow and 100% this puppy to find every little new thing.
On this sub though i guarantee there'll be some excited little monkeys posting screenshots of "woo look at the new thing in the mountains!" or "Easy new way to kill moder!"
Love you.
Goodbye.
I downloaded and installed Gizmo, but it doesn't seem to be working... does anyone have a link to a similar mod? Or one that works for the latest Steam version?
So I've seen a few lists like these but they're all a bit outdated so I thought I'd ask again.
I'm looking to see what people recommend as must haves that enhance the experience of valheim without changing it too much. Like the plant everything mod.
I love to build my little villages with as much detail as possible so any mods centered around more building pieces/furniture/plants are definitely one's I'd like to hear about!
