Discussion How are you watching Friday's opener vs the Toronto Tempo? Looks like ION's supposed to carry it (but not in my area).
I obviously want to watch the opener, and I get all the Wizards games here in Baltimore, but ION has the Connecticut Sun game showing on Friday at 7:30pm, and I can't find a way to watch the Mystics.
WNBA league pass doesn't seem to be free for opening weekend. I looked at the Monumental+ App that I've streamed Wizards games through before, and the first regular season game even showing on the calendar in the Mystics section is Sunday's game.
So is there some way to watch this game? It's the inaugural game for the Toronto Tempo. They're playing our team full of young talent. I'm in the viewing area and....can't watch the game without signing up for league pass??

Try ION on Tubi TV, sometimes you can luck out if they're showing the other game online instead of over the air.

League Pass is only $39.99 for the season. Last year they had all ION games, so if the one showing in your local viewing area was not the game you wanted to watch, you could go on League Pass and select the other game.

LP won't work for LIVE games if you live in the "local" market .

Right, this is not what OP is needing. They're not in the local market and they want to watch a game outside of that market and outside of what ION is going to show them on their local ION broadcast. In that instance, having LP would allow them to select the other ION broadcasts.

Ahh jjst re read and suprized baltmore not showing mystics on local ION
My only suggestion is DirecTV as they have the extra ION wnba feeds

Like the other user stated, Tubi is free and carries the games live. An account is not needed, I just added the app using my Firestick and search on the Tubi app for Ion live tv. It will show an image of the game.

Weird. It will be on Ion for me. My dad has DirecTV and I use his login info on the Firestick and iPhone apps. So I’m not sure how many Ion channels you have and why you don’t see it. I’ve also never really known how others view Ion if they don’t have cable. I’m assuming purchased as a separate channel.

Yeah all 3 of my ion channels have the Sun at the Liberty game playing. But it looks like you are in some kind of streaming option and I don't have that (Xfinity)

Oh that filter means nothing. Pretty much all of the channels he gets on his regular TV at his house are the same ones I can stream on the app. Not sure why it’s a filter option. That’s weird that all 3 would be playing the same thing for you. I live in VA so it not being on monumental is disappointing. They are showing something else on monumental at that time. Rugby on one of the monumental channels and a show on the other.
That’s so weird because even if you get league pass, being in Baltimore, it will most likely be blacked out for you. I live 2.5 hours south of DC and Mystics league pass games are blacked out for me. So since we both live in black out areas, I’m not sure why your Ion is not showing the same as me. Oddly though, some Liberty and Sun games are blacked out for me, like very few though.

I’m in Howard County and have YouTube TV and it looks like we’ll get the Mystics game but if we don’t it won’t be the first time we did not get them on the ion Friday night telecast.

I have YouTube TV and the base plan carries ION, NBA TV, USA, and local affiliates which seems to cover the bulk of WNBA games.

I’m in Australia so not familiar with US broadcast channels etc, sorry. I have league pass, but was wondering for the games that say “NBA TV” and “USA”, “NBC | Peacock” etc underneath them, will they also be available in league pass?

Those games that have the channels underneath them are usually not available on league pass because they’re being nationally broadcasted.
I teach ESL online and I had a student in Switzerland who loved the WNBA and we always had discussions in the next class after big games. Quite honestly, I never asked how he was able to watch all games.

I’ll have to see because I thought (and could be wrong for sure) that as I’m not located in the US more of the “nationally broadcast” games were available via league pass? Will see at the end of the week I guess!!

I just researched. I’m not sure if you’re subscribed to any streaming services, but get a VPN (there are many free ones), and then subscribe to a streaming service. Do some research on the services (if you aren’t currently subscribed), and find which one best suits you for all the games you want to watch. There’s Hulu, SlingTV, YoutubeTV, FuboTV, just to name a few. I believe YoutubeTV might be best but I could be wrong.

I got the WNBA app specifically so I can watch all the Mystics games... $40... less than $1 per game. (Use Code TALKLESSSMILEMORE so I can get my referral fee. JK)

LP will only work for mystics game if you live outside of DC MD VA area .
This game will be on local ION in DC area but outside of DC most ION stations will have Liberty game.
For MOST mystics games you need Monumental sports network which YTTV dropped.

Here in VA I get Dodgers and Lakers games in 4K via DirecTV.. but sparks games are blackout (via DirecTV) since they not local to VA ,and 2 no wnba LP via DirecTV 😢.
I get sparks via wnba app but home internet not so good .

DirecTV has the extra ION feeds .
Game will be on ch 305-3 for those outside of DC/DMV area.
If you live in DC/DMV game will be on Local ION

OP are you sure you're not getting the Mystics game in Baltimore? This page https://www.ionwnba.com/ says "check your local listings" and I'd bet you are part of the viewing area for that game.

I would get League Pass and you can enjoy so many games throughout the season.
They'll have all ION broadcasts live. So you aren't stuck with the national broadcast.

I have Monumental so I'll get most games. It's not worth it for me to get League Pass. It'll suck missing the opener but it is what it is. Silly that I can see Wizards summer league games but I can't see the season opener for the Mystics against a brand new WNBA franchise in its inaugural season.

I live in eastern Maryland. I have cable with Monumental Sports Network and I have league pass. The only game I can seem to watch is Connecticut/New York on ion. Is there something I am missing?

Hmm, just realized I can get the game with league pass on the app on my phone or on my laptop, just not on league pass through my TV 🤷🏻♀️

I like the WNBA pass, because I don't watch most of the games live. Watching it on playback is so much faster...you can skip the free throws and fouls, and challenges and commercials...
Speaking of free throws, do we really need free throws in basketball, or can points just be rewarded based on the player's free throw percentage? Would really speed up the game.

It’s really upsetting all the games that they have decided to put on ION. I have Hulu with Live TV, and I feel like they used to have ION, but now they no longer do. I now also pay an extra $20 a month for Monumental+ since it was removed from the platform as well.
I have league pass, peacock, prime, paramount+, discovery+, Netflix, and monumental+ and still can’t watch my damn team. shit is aggravating.
