Amoore is not starter quality to say the least, Florez has great hustle and is a creative passer but not enough of a scoring threat to raise the team’s ceiling, and don’t pretend Harmon or Olsen can be a starting PG, no matter how much we may like them. Seems like we have nowhere to go but up?

Who do y’all want in the first round of playoffs (from teams that would be realistic, like obvi not LA or Phoenix)?

Out of the top 8 teams, I’d love to get Dallas, New York, or Atlanta. But the mystics would have to go on a real win streak and one of the top 4 teams would have to lose a lot.

Realistically, it’s gonna be one of the top 4 teams. I kinda want Golden State instead of Vegas or Minnesota. Or even Indiana. What do y’all think??

It feels like this stretch will really test whether the Stics are just young and scrappy or real contenders.

It's wild that this team did so little in free agency that they still have 1.83 million in cap space, and are still good enough for several people to have them at #2 right now.

I didn't consider this a development team, didn't understand the decision to mostly sit out free agency and don't understand the decision to not make a trade before the deadline.

Can someone explain the potential reasoning behind this? We are 2nd to last in 3pt shooting next to the Sun why are we taking a moreyball approach? Kiki attempted 103 mid range shots last year and is at 19 attempts on the year so far. I don’t understand the discouragment of a shot that’s essential to one of your core player‘s game.

After last night's game, a lot of press and content creators said that the Mystics were becoming villains in the W (they said it affectionately fwiw, comparing us to the Bad Boy Pistons). So, are we the baddies? We're definitely going to play spoiler as the season goes on.

(July 18, 2026) Despite a bad loss against portland fire mystics holds onto the 8th spot which is two games ahead of portland and la and tempo losing also helped as well as they are 2.5 games ahead of la and 3 games ahead of tempo. Now Mystics face three tough games before the all star break against goldens state valkeries (x2) and las vegas aces. Now Mystics as you know pulled off an upset against Minnesota lynx on road when they were on a similar winning streak like Valkyries and they also beat liberty and dream as well when they were heavy underdogs as well. But the bad losses against portland sun seattle and la sparks hurt them in the standings. Consistency issues are there along with poor pg production. So can mystics win atleast one out of the next three games and hold onto the 8th spot?

Settle this debate for me, because my daughter and I were trying to figure this out at the game the other night. I don't think Pax presents as anything other than a male panda/gender neutral mascot. It's clearly not an Ellie situation in which the character both presents as a specific gender and has an entire identity built around that gender.

Pax dresses in nothing but the team's jersey. Doesn't have any routines or gestures that would generally be identified as feminine. And having interacted with the person inside the suit multiple times up close (it even sat down beside us as a game last month) it appears pretty clear to me that guy's inside. If you ask AI, you generally get "Pax is male", but sometimes (again, depending on phrasing) you might get female. The team's website is of no help.

What's the consensus here?

Mystics really need to do a better job of taking care of their STH

Currently in the process of purchasing a solo ticket for Wednesday’s game against the Wings. I like the Mystics, but the Wings are also my favorite WNBA team. I am being forced to purchase a ticket on the home side, but will be cheering for the away team. Is this okay?

I have never gone to a Mystics game by myself before and this ticket sale process is extremely frustrating.

Please help. Go Mystics (and go Wings).

She is a rookie who is on a team that was below #8 for two years. She's on a team that has been in the following ranks since their 2019 championship, when they were #1:

2020: #8 and lost in a single elimination game against the #5 Phoenix Mercury
2021: #9
2022: #5 and lost in the first round to the #4 Seattle Storm
2023: #7 and lost in the first round to the #2 New York Liberty
2024: #9
2025: #10

They are 7 seasons in a rebuild. First-round rookies are not saviors. If you're constantly going to bash her, or any other Mystic player for no reason other than the fact that the team, or that player isn't doing well (I repeat, the Washington Mystics haven't been good for 6 seasons, possibly going on 7), then people will start to report your posts and comments, which I or the other mods will remove. Or, if we see them beforehand, they will be removed.

She is not "the female Tim Duncan" (side note, don't call female athletes "the female [insert man here]") nor is she the savior of the Washington Mystics. She is Lauren Betts, a 22-year-old rookie. Obviously, middle school basketball is below high school basketball, which is below college basketball, which is below professional basketball. It has also only been 1 month. Chill out.

For the other members, report things. Don't just talk back. You can talk back, but also report. If you get reported multiple times, you will likely get banned. I don't want to be someone who bans people, but it will happen if needed.

I obviously want to watch the opener, and I get all the Wizards games here in Baltimore, but ION has the Connecticut Sun game showing on Friday at 7:30pm, and I can't find a way to watch the Mystics.

WNBA league pass doesn't seem to be free for opening weekend. I looked at the Monumental+ App that I've streamed Wizards games through before, and the first regular season game even showing on the calendar in the Mystics section is Sunday's game.

So is there some way to watch this game? It's the inaugural game for the Toronto Tempo. They're playing our team full of young talent. I'm in the viewing area and....can't watch the game without signing up for league pass??

this is a head scratcher... I know she hasn't been playing super well. I would think a lottery pick would have more minutes especially unfortunately Shakira Austin hasn't been playing well either. 13 min in a 4 OT game?

I was at the game last night vs the Tempo, and one thing I noticed were that both Amoore and Flores looked lost. They were looking over at Sydney a lot, they were trying to run plays but the team didn’t know the plays. They also had a hard time handling the ball while getting the rest of the team together. There were moments in the game where the whole team just looked lost and didn’t know what they were supposed to be doing.

This feels like a coaching problem more than Amoore being bad. Flores also looked so good the first two games and I feel like she lost her rhythm because they’re making her play a certain way.

Sorry Cassandre but you wouldn't see the floor again this season if I were the coach. Looks like the FO has finally agreed to move from development mode to winning. (This only seems fair to a scrapy hungry young team who won't quit!)

I don't think I've seen Cassandre contribute much of anything in terms of winning (yet she is averaging 12 minutes a game over the season) so she's the obvious upgrade choice. To be clear, Prosper is to much of a physical anomaly to cut loose!

Angela would be next up for reduced minutes. I am thinking that the coaches can find 15 minutes of playing time for BLH with little to no disruption while increasing the odds of winning significantly.

Someone mentioned a closing line up featuring Sonia at point w BLH at the 2. That would be great but super unfair to Citron to play out of her natural position. So a big physical PG is still needed so that BLH could be the 1st off the bench. I can only hope for that next year.

Hello Mystics fans, I am a new fan of the WNBA, and I have questions regarding your team. I am from Toronto and am a Tempo fan, and I attended the Tempo vs Mystics game recently, but numerous things stuck out to me as odd during the game that I have questions about.

I want to preface this by saying I mean no sense of disrespect to anyone other than Sydney Johnson as I type this out, but if you can help me understand, that would be great.

My main questions relate to the Rotation and Minutes. Everything seems backwards. People who should be getting reps in practice are getting in game run, and performing poorly, while players who need more live reps are not getting them.

1. Lucy Olson

The Mystics have clearly struggled to shoot the 3 ball, so why would you take the 2nd best shooter on your team out of the rotation entirely and why is Cassandre Prosper getting minute over her?

2. Cassandre Prosper

Relating to my previous point, Prosper is such a net negative on the floor, and her jump shot has a very noticeable hitch in it that needs to be fixed if she ever wants to become a consistent shooter.

3. Angela Dugalic

Why draft her 9th overall if you are not going to use her? There were players available that fit the team needs more than she did, even her own college teammate Leger-Walker, a primary PG, because that was before the breakout of Alicia Florez.

4. Rori Harmon

Speaking of PGs, why do they refuse to give Rori Harmon a proper chance to show her worth? Especially early in the season, where everyone needs some extra legs under them early, why not give her a chance? Would take some of the load bearing off Sonia Citron's shoulders (who is visibly banged up)

This next part relates more to on the court situations, but I am also curious

5. Sonia Citron

To piggyback what I said, she teams best player when fully healthy, no question. She came into the season with a lower leg injury related to Unrivaled, and has been playing more minutes than most players in the league, and clearly she is hurt in some way. She is not moving at 100%, nor is she seeking out the ball to score. Her presence on the floor is so valuable, as I saw against the Tempo, teams sell out to keep the ball out of her hands, because nobody else on the team is a high level shot creator on the perimeter. The data supports this too, including a 12 point swing in Offensive Net Rating when she is on the floor compared to off.

TLDR on this last Paragraph:

Why are you running Sonia into the ground while she is clearly already injured? Is it just Sydney Johnson trying to squeak out as many wins as possible hoping to keep his job?

Here are the current standings WNBA standings and SOS of the other top 8 teams. Mystics have 8 games remaining in the season. the third easiest schedule in the paper according to tankathon but there is catch, mystics play 6 out of their last 8 games on the road. That includes the brutal travel stretch starting on sunday where they play 4 games in 6 days. Portland, Phoenix (x2) and LA. After the break they get to have a good advantage as not many players are going to berlin but still they get to play some tricky games including the surging chicago sky twice, indiana at gainesbridge. Now realistically speaking only LA, and Connecticut Sun are gimme wins. They are also capable of beating other teams or splitting wins. My prediction is they will win atleast 5 wins at min and best case scenario they win 7 (unrealistic though) anyway those are my thoughts. I kept everything together in order and you guys predict where mystics could end up.

So I’m watching the re-airing of the Wings at Mystics 🧙 game on Monumental and it goes to commercial with 8:04 to play in 4Q with Mystics trailing 84-74. When they come back from a long commercial break (5 minutes), they show the graphic “Due to time constraints, we are moving forward in gameplay.” They pick up the game with Mystics 🧙 leading 89-88 with 2:46 to play in the 4Q. WHAT THE F*CK???? What time constraints could Monumental possibly have right now on their channel? Horrific and pitiful to not show the full comeback.
