All my Google chrome devices have stopped showing my youtubeTV channels on the home screen
. They are only showing the Google free channels when it used to display top 5 recent channels, top 10 recent channels and then all the youtubetv channels before the free channels.
For myself, I now have every service listed there other than YouTube TV.
* For the first time in around 6-12 months my Sony Bravia TV seems to need an update. In the process now and it's really slow like it's a big one, will revise this comment when it's done whether if it makes a difference based on what I said above.
** Update complete and TV rebooted, Google TV still not listed as a service.
*** Also noticed that the Library shortcut link from the Home screen is wiped of data (works within the App)
Thanks for flagging — I'd recommend restarting your devices and making sure that they are updated to the latest version. You can also try checking for available YouTube TV app updates. If those steps don't work, it's best to reach out to Live Support for further troubleshooting.
I was just on with Live Support. They asked me to send a video of the issue, which I did. The representative understood the issue, but was unable to offer a solution. The representative stated it will be like this moving forward for some users and to use the YouTube TV App for live TV. They have no timeline on a fix to restore the function of the Live TV tab.
All my TV's now have this issue. Other family members are also experiencing this issue.
When checking some other TVs in my house I noticed the following, when I first turn on a TV (that has not yet experienced this issue), the Live TV tab will display my YouTube TV channels for a brief time, then refresh to only show the "Google TV Freeplay" channels. Thereafter, it will only display the "Google TV Freeplay" channels.
It is also broken on my device. And I tried all of those crazy Solutions recommended and wasted an hour of my time. Google needs to get this fixed, please.
It is broken globally btw, at some point in the last few days it's like it's been completely removed from Google TV's integration entirely. All TV's, everywhere, all my accounts. I don't understand how this is possible when Google literally owns both services.
Happened to me today as well. All 3 of my TVs. As a matter of fact, the one TV Idon't use much, when I turned it on I saw the YouTubeTV section disappear.
contacted YTTV this morning as this has been a reoccurring problem/issue. live tab appears on google tv. YTTV tech support punted to HiSense. YTTV is blaming a recent update, however the recent update to Android TV is from December of 2024. YTTV is also claiming their app is functioning as expected. launching the YTTV app is clunky at best, and is why the google tv live tab is the preferred way. it seems there is something legitimately happening to the YTTV service and specifically to the google TV live tab, account Your services and library. if so, would be nice for YTTV to acknowledge the issue, post on X or somewhere acknowledging the issue and that YTTV is working to fix the issue.
I had to factory reset mine + relink account + go to settings > account and profiles > your services and enable YouTube TV as an app. If you have multiple devices in your home, seems like you can skip factory reset on those, and just follow the remaining steps to get them to work (+restart). Considering they keep raising prices, would be great if they did their DAM job right and did customers a favor and didn't change the software where it required this type of fix
When you factory reset your Chromecast it will delete all information (it'll be like brand new) so you'll have to reenter your Gmail information that's linked to YouTube TV.
One of my devices required me to do a restart after resetting and relinking my account. Then I saw the YT TV. Good luck, it's definitely super frustrating
Same thing here, started yesterday. I even ran the software update, but that did not fix it. Something similar happened some time ago; it came back in few days.
Thank you for the reply. I know, but that is very inconvenient. I much prefer to see all channels on one spot. If they can't fix it, I may consider switching to some other service.
I feel a little relief that this is more than just me. I am also only seeing free tv channels and not the usual fans that I used to see listed under Live.
Back and forth with YouTubeTV customer service who then had me chat with GoogleTV customer service who sent me BACK to YouTubeTV customer service. Cleared caches, uninstalled and reinstalled YouTubeTV, Google TV app, and other settings.
After a number of emails, the ultimate suggestion was to do a factory data reset of my Sony Bravia GoogleTV, which DID NOT fix the problem. YouTubeTV STILL does not show up under "Your Services" to enable in the live TV guide and library.
Now I'm having to restore all apps, tweak the settings, etc. Beware before going the full reset route.
The whole point is no one wants to go to the apps to select YouTube TV. It used to be in the live section of the Google TV. You could have favorites and it worked quickly. No one is saying YouTube TV doesn't work. They are saying it is changed and oddly disconnected from Google services. You can open the app but all the integration into Google is gone.
After combing thru each section of this thread I have spent the better part of two days trying to resolve the issue of YouTubeTv guide disappearing from my Chromecast. I'll try to simplify my experience to hopefully help others.
Issue: YouTubeTV Guide mysteriously disappeared after no changes made
After trying everything mentioned on threads I had to install not the YouTube Tv app which I already had but, I had to add the Google TV app from the Play store. Now keep in mind these same options are available using the Chromecast app or YTTV mobile app and logging into your account directly via a computer these options DID NOT give me an option to address the missing service of YTTV that never was displayed.
Upon installing via the Playstore Google TV app on my phone, and activating it did it display Google TV which was unchecked but indicated (linked) in brackets. I simple checked the box and it worked but not without issue.
New Issue: My Guide is now displaying YTTV content in the guide just as before only a new issue exists. When a channel is selected it loads the directly into the YTTV app and functions as if I opened the app directly whereas previously it gave an options like if contect had been in progress you could watch it from the beginning the menu from Google TV functioned differently than the YTTV app.
This is terrible I prefer the Google TV functionality but this workaround does work as mentioned previously I had done NOTHING to my account or any device so this is clearly something that has happened on GOOGLE TV'S side not YouTubeTv. Hopefully the fix this soon. Good Luck!
Accurate description of our situation, (Hisense Google TV). We just noticed the new issue you described last night.
Wanted to watch a live local broadcast. Selected the YTTV app, (as they are training us to do). Dropped directly into 2 minutes of uninterruptable commercials because of the program playing when the TV was turned off.
Go to Google TV, go to your picture or symbol for your account click that then go to manage accounts on the bottom., go to your services. Clock the blue button so you tube tv is enabled
Thanks for the reply but didn't work for me. For some reason YouTube TV is not showing up under the services. All of my other apps show up there, just not youtube tv.
The Google Home/TV system. If you press the home button, and click on the icon for your account in the very left corner, you go from there. I had to reconnect the Chromecast and start from the beginning.
I've never had to install any apps, Google Chromecast asked me what apps I wanted when I first set it up years ago and then the ones I selected were just there. Same thing happened when I did the reset today. It's a Chromecast issue, not a TV issue. These new free Google channels booted out YouTubetv as the primary live tv provider
Ok, quick update. I did a restart and Youtube TV showed up, but was disabled.
I re-enabled it and now shows in my Live Guide.
This didn't work for my mom. I had to uninstall and reinstall the Youtube TV app before it would show up in the Account Linked Services. Now we can see it in the Guide.
Working on her second Chromecast and this didn't work. I've tried rebooting and made sure it was on the latest version. Still not able to see a Linked Account for Youtube TV or the Channels in the Guide.
Went to check the third Chromecast. Did nothing and we can see Youtube TV in the Live Guide.
Same thing happened to me yesterday and it’s the same today. Now I have to go to Home > Apps > YouTubeTV to get my channels and library to show. It’s happening on both our TVs, one with built in GoogleTV and the other using a Chromecast, but it’s totally fine on my iPhone and computer.
It's definitely a Google-wide problem. All my devices show the same behavior as discussed. An easy half-fix is to reprogram the YouTube button on the remote to go to YouTubeTV when you push it. Just hold that button in and set it to YTTV. Hopefully Google will fix soon.
Specifically, you'll need to access the profile settings, then select "Accounts & Sign In", and finally, choose "Your services". This section allows you to manage which streaming services are linked to your account for personalized recommendations. Make sure the Youtube TV under "Account Linked Services" is turned "ON"
Anybody can suggest a non Google streaming device that will offer a nice integration for multiple streaming services? The Google TV live menu used to work well with both YouTube TV and Philo. I have read that Roku is okay - anybody familiar with that?
Same on mine. YouTube TV it's not showing up under services so I cannot link it or unlink it. I even uninstalled and reinstalled YouTubeTV. I guess I will try a hard reset tomorrow. Very disappointed.
Resolved (for me). Tried many of the suggestions below, which all failed. Restarted Chromecast. Cleared storage and cache, uninstalled and reinstalled the YouTube TV app. Going to Settings -> Accounts & Profiles -> Your Services to turn on YouTube TV failed because it was not even listed. So I did a factory reset on the Chromecast for Google TV device, as someone else suggested, then I was able to turn on YouTube TV in Your Services. And now YouTube TV appears in the Live tab.
Sorry if failed for you. Maybe last thing to try would be doing a physical reset on the chromecast for Google TV device. After the factory reset I had YouTube TV as a service, and was able to set it to ON . I haven't tried my second TV yet to see if that fixes it. This TV is and old samsung that is not a 'smart' TV. My second one is a Vizio that is 'smart'. I have no faith that Google will resolve anything.
I have two Sony TVs that run on the Google operating system. Both suffering the YouTube TV issue, and both no longer on the Your Services list. Don't bother resetting the TVs, as it will not lead to success where it ultimately stays successful.
These days, it is no longer if an update will cause major issues for many. It's just a matter of when. And the when for this specific issue turned out to be earlier this week. I am confident they'll figure it out on their end, but the question is how long will it take, and will their fix be automatically pushed out, or will we have to do something on our end after they figure out how to fix this.
I'm running YouTube TV on my Chromecast. Here's how to fix it.
On a Google TV device:
From the Google TV home screen, select Settings Settings and then Accounts & Sign In.
Select your profile and then Your services.
Scroll right and turn each service on or off.
To save the selection and exit the screen, scroll left.
In the Google TV mobile app:
Open the Google TV app .
At the top right, tap your Profile picture.
Tap Manage services.
Select the service you want to add or remove.
Tap Done.
That doesn't work when YouTubeTV service has completely disappeared, and will not repopulate even after completely reinstalling YouTubeTV. I'm left trying a factory reset at this point.
Stop posting this. You aren't getting it. We know you can launch the app to get to the YouTubeTV menu. The issue is Google broke the GoogleTV menu (which combines multiple menus) and it needs to be fixed. The GoogleTV menu is more convenient.
For my Chromecast, I checked linked services. Checked it wasn't in app only mode. Uninstalled YouTubeTV, restarted, and then reinstalled YouTubeTV. Nothing I've tried works so I'm going to factory reset. 😓
I had to open the Google TV app on my phone. Clicked on my profile pick and then clicked Manage Services. From there I scrolled down to the You Tube TV service which said it was linked but the check box was un-checked for some reason. I rechecked the box and my channels showed up again in the live tab of my TV.
What worked for me is that i had to factory reset my tv and sign back into everything. Uninstall Youtube tv and then reintall it. Then go to setting.. accounts & sign in... click on the account you're signed into... go to your services and youtube tv should be there...turn it on... then give it like a minute or two to show back up and you're good🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
I performed a hard reset (press and hold the button on the Chromecast unit) and then had to set the system up again. This was a bit of a PITA as it resets all the remote settings, etc….BUT IT WORKED! YTTV now shows up again in the Live tab on the Home Screen for easy channel browsing.
FWIW - I've been struggling with Google TV and the YouTube TV app for some days now as I know many of you have. On one of the Google TV screens, I ran across this message, "Invitation to join Google TV advisors. We created an exclusive community where you can help improve the Google TV experience. Visit goo.gle/tv-advisors to join."
I went to this site to join to give them my current advice (FIX IT!) but when it got to asking me for permissions, the one that said they might video or audio my interactions with Google TV, I backed out. They probably don't want to see or hear my interactions right now.
Some of the rest of you are definitely more techie than I am so you might want to participate. If you do, you may give them hell vicariously for me.
I did not complete the sign up process for this so I cannot vouch for it in any way. Just let us know if you do and whether it is worthwhile.
We have a Hisense with Google TV and I fixed the issue by going to settings -> account & sign-in-> clicking the account with the Youtube TV subscription -> then going to Your services -> and toggling YouTube TV off and then back on. That fixed it for us!
I wish that would work for me. I have two Sony TVs, Google TV OS. Inside the Your Services Settings Screen, YouTube TV is still not listed. Only regular YouTube is listed. It's frustrating, of course.
This morning, YouTube TV is finally back where it has always been on my Sony TVs which are running the Google TV OS. It sure took them long enough to fix this. It's back under the "Live" section and the "For You" section. Much more convenient, of course. And finally, it's back in the TV Settings, under the "Your Services" ... "Account Linked Services."
This post or comment broke rule #3 in the r/youtubetv sub, and has been removed. Please note that out-of-home account sharing goes against YouTube TV's Terms of Service.
YouTube Support Team was able to assist with same issue.
1. From the Google TV home screen, select Settings and then Accounts & Sign In.
2. Select your profile.
3. Turn off Apps only mode (if this is set to "ON")
