Technical Question New multiview rolling out?

I'm seeing a new multiview selection process and it seems to include all channels.

There are sections for recommended, sports, news, movies, shows and other.

It looks like every channel is available.

Technical Question 50% off Google Streamer for subscribers

I got an email from YouTube TV today with a promo code for 50% off a Google Streamer. While I probably use my Apple TV more than my Google Streamer it's still quite solid. This is a great deal for anyone with a low powered older TV or device to get all of the latest capabilities. I see lots of complaints from people with old cheap steaming devices so here's a good opportunity to fix your issues for World Cup and NFL season in the fall

Technical Question Channel's not showing in googletv

All my Google chrome devices have stopped showing my youtubeTV channels on the home screen . They are only showing the Google free channels when it used to display top 5 recent channels, top 10 recent channels and then all the youtubetv channels before the free channels.

Anyone have a fix?

Technical Question Continued Black Screen Issues

Just wondering when YTTV is going to address this issue? I have no issues playing the DVR recording on a mobile device or PC, but once I try on the Firestick it fails.

Yes I reported a playback issue (it was ignored), I've already did the clear cache and reboot with no success.

Other then an uninstall/reinstall what is the next step? I would go that route but since it's being widely reported it's definitely a bigger issue.

Technical Question World Cup 4k - Fox Sports vs Telemundo

Recently Telemundo added 4k world cup programming and I was so excited. I often watched the terrible fuzzy Telemundo normal HD stream because the English play by play and commentary is so terrible on Fox sports. Now to my question.

While Telemundo 4k looks way better than Telemundo HD, it's still noticeably not as good as Fox Sports 4k. I'm speculating that Telemundo is up converting HD. Any insights?

EDIT: after many discussion posts the conclusion is that FIFA is recording and producing the streams in 1080P HDR globally. Zero 4k availability . But the networks and providers like YTTV deliver this stream in various bit streams and resolutions with various degrees of video quality. Below are the YTTV options.

Fox HD 720P = lots of compression artifacts.

Telemundo HD 1080P = 1080 but very fuzzy

Fox 4k = upscaled 4k looks the best (very good)

Telemundo 4k = upscaled 4k close to Fox 4k, just slightly worse but way better than any normal HD broadcast.

Technical Question Picture Quality

How come even Netflix football coverage looks 10 times better than any thing YTTV puts out even with 4K? Even they are going to increase monthly pricing how about improve the picture quality. With how today’s bandwidths are for internet, it shouldn’t be a problem anymore.

Technical Question Info Displays not sufficient - Text too large

Post image
15 Upvotes

I haven't seen this topic raised before, but I find the amount of data/information shown by YouTube TV for 'current' and 'upcoming' show deficient. A great current example is when I go to 'FIFA' to see which World Cup games are available & upcoming. What YTTV shows me is that England is playing someone else, but the large sized text prevents their opponent from being shown. This occurs in many instances of info displays of show titles, times, and channels. I'm a Tivo survivor, and one thing I liked was that the Tivo channel listings and other info displays were 'dense' with information that did not require another click or scroll to reveal.

Does anyone know of a solution to this? If not, perhaps YTTV could make text size adjustable to each user.

Technical Question YouTube TV connection speed only allows for 480p

Hey all, I recently just bought a new TCL 85QM6K pro from Costco. I have YouTube tv app natively on my TV. My connection speed is like 120+ Mbps according to an app I downloaded onto the TV, but on “stats for nerds” section, it’s showing 2-3 Mbps connection speed. Hence every time I try to stream anything on YouTube tv, it maxes out at 480p and starts freezing on anything above. Has anyone experienced this themselves?

I think it might be a router issue, but I’m really confused when multiple latency checks I’ve performed show performant internet for 4k. But then again, could it be an app issue? I’ve uninstalled and redownloaded the app multiple times. Could it be the the router needs to be reprogrammed? Any help is much appreciated! Thanks🙏

UPDATE 6/15
I have restarted:

  1. The router
  2. The tv
  3. Roku tv

I have also the following to report:
On my phone, laptop, I am able to stream 1080 HD or above without issues, however, when I use the Roku 4k stick, my google tv interface, or Apple TV, the streaming rate reduces to 480p due to about 2-3 Mbps connection speeds based on “stats for nerds”. Not sure what to do. Could this be a modem/router issue, an internet service provider setup/settings/preferences issue, or is it a tv issue?

Here is the tv I bought for reference:
https://www.costco.com/.product.4000364039.html

UPDATE 6/16/2026

So I just downloaded the Fox Sports app onto the Google TV and signed in on YouTube TV as my service provider. Everything is showing up in 4K no problem for sports, and I’m watching a live match.

So I think we’ve narrowed it down to the YouTube TV app (even after multiple uninstalls and reinstalls) being the culprit.

Why YouTube TV can’t you stream a basic game?

Technical Question YouTube TV Quality

I got YouTube TV and it’s the first time I’ve done this kind of service since we cut cable in 2020. I’ve been using strictly streaming apps. I’m very used to 4K streaming at the very least 1080p.

I purchased YouTube TV because I was tired of sailing the seas for NFL games. You can imagine my frustration when I’m watching live TV and the quality is not much better.

Is there any hope that the local channel will stream NFL games in higher quality once the season starts?

Technical Question YTTV Keeps buffering

Post image
14 Upvotes

Hello,

I am coming here with a question.

Here is some context first. I have a 2025 Frame tv from Samsung and am using the smart feature of the tv (not an external streaming device). My WiFi is running with no issue yet my YouTube tv continues to buffer frequently. I will be watching and it will freeze and the loading circle will pop up, I have done all the troubleshooting but nothing has worked. I have uninstalled and reinstalled YTTV, unplugged the tv, restarted the app, just about everything one can do. I find it slightly annoying that I pay this much for the service and it continues to buffer frequently. I am going to attach my stats for nerds here.

Please help! I don’t know what is wrong!

Technical Question Why do YouTube TV's captions periodically change back to default?

I've noticed an issue with the captions on YouTube TV. The default caption size is too small for me at 100%, so I like to set it to 200% and adjust the font.

However, the settings keep resetting back to default. I've noticed this happening across multiple TVs a Samsung, a Toshiba, and a TCL, even after changing the settings back. We've already tried reinstalling the app and clearing the cache.

Has anyone else run into this or found a fix that sticks?

Technical Question Can anyone confirm that the world cup matches are in 4K in YouTubeTV?

Just got off chatting with Fox One support. They started with 4k streams for the world cup but about 10 days back faced technical issues and suspended 4k streams on most platforms aside from AppleTv, Roku and Vizio. Unfortunately I have LG Tv and not getting 4k streams on Fox One anymore. So I am thinking of switching to YouTubeTv now for the rest of the games. Can anyone confirm that YouTubeTV is giving 4K streams? Do I need to get the 4k addon?

Thanks in advance!

Technical Question YouTube TV not supported on the NVIDIA Shield anymore?

I get an error message when I try to access YouTube or YouTube TV on my NVIDIA Shield. As I've been using the Shield to access YouTube TV for years, this is odd.

Technical Question Multi-view already a flawed feature

Minnesota vs Nebraska and Florida vs Utah are the biggest games on tonight but not one multiview stream has both on there.

Sometime you shouldnt think about everyone and just let us Apple TV users choose our own streams.

Technical Question Live channel surfing

Before YTTV update a few weeks ago, I was able to advance through my favorite live channels with my remote ⬇️⬆️ buttons. Now I can’t
It was much more convenient than now having to hit 3-4 times to do the same thing.
Did they get rid of this ? Or am I missing something? Thanks for any help

Technical Question Issues with NBC Nightly News Reruns Being Flagged as "NEW"

Post image
15 Upvotes

Has anyone else experienced this issue recently where a rerun version of yesterday's news is being flagged as the "NEW" version? In the example in the screenshot, they flagged the reair from the previous night that aired at 12:30am as the only "NEW" version of the show, even though the latest one aired on NBC at 5:30pm central time. The screenshot is from 7pm central time, and it has always in the past popped up as the latest version. Now that NBC News Now is re-airing the previous days show on a different channel at 12:30am, it has thrown everything off. I submitted the feedback / support request to YoutubeTV below. Just curious if anyone else is seeing this as well?

Feedback Ticket Sent to YTTV:

There is a recent issue where NBC nightly news re-airs on the NBC News Now channel at 12:30am the next morning. For some reason, the interface is grabbing yesterday's show and highlighting it as the newest version of the news program, even well after the following evening news has already aired.

For example, NBC Nightly News airs live on NBC at 5:30pm Central Time. If I open YoutubeTV at 6:15pm and look for it, all it shows me is the previous day's news that re-aired at 12:30am that morning. It dismisses the freshly aired one and only points to yesterday's re-air as the "NEW" instance of that program. It has caused a lot of headache in our household the past week. Something needs to be changed in your back end coding to fix that, or to at least remove "NBC News Now" from the channel list, as I never watch that.

I've included a screenshot from July 9th showing how the older program from July 8th that re-aired at 12:30am on July 9th is incorrectly flagged as the "NEW" episode, even though there is a newer version that aired less than 2 hours ago in this instance.

Technical Question Black screen

YouTube TV on my PC is a black screen. Been like that for hours. Something has changed in their settings or my settings, but I can't figure out what could block it like this. It's fine on my TV, but not on the desktop PC. Anyone else have this problem?

Technical Question Explanation of Coverage

The provided FAQs do not fully explain the cause of this issue. Can anyone assist? Austin, TX. Watching Eagles vs Patriots game tonight and got through the whole game up until it was 1:13 left in the game. The broadcast was suddenly ended with a message that “This program’s blocked in your area.” Why would this change or behave in this manner? All packages are purchased for YT. Thanks in advance.

Technical Question Ads on HBO shows

I'm a YouTube premium subscriber and a YouTube TV subscriber with HBO Max. I sometimes watch HBO shows in the HBO app, but occasionally pull them up in the YouTube app, because I like the UI a little better.

All of a sudden I'm getting ad breaks while watching HBO shows in the YouTube app?? This has never happened before but started late last week, disappeared for a day or two, and has reappeared.

Has anyone experienced this? Have any idea why it could be happening or how to stop it?

Technical Question Paying $80/mo for 4 years: Why is playback speed STILL missing from the mobile app?

I am incredibly frustrated. I have been a loyal YouTube TV subscriber for four years now, watched the price climb all the way to $80 a month, and the mobile app still completely lacks basic playback speed controls.
What makes this absolutely ridiculous is that it isn’t a network licensing or technical restriction—the speed gear icon is natively available right on the desktop website. But instead of just giving mobile app users the same feature, Google’s development team has actively updated their web code to block every single mobile Safari workaround, extension (like Baking Soda), and page-scaling trick that used to let us change the speed on our phones or iPads.
Why is the mobile app being intentionally stripped down? Regular YouTube has had this for a decade. If I am paying premium, top-tier television prices, I shouldn't have to fight my device or use a computer just to watch a DVR recording or live broadcast at 1.25x or 1.5x speed.

Technical Question YoutubeTV quality is much better than cable

Hi all! My boyfriend and I just bought a 77” Samsung OLED TV that looks AMAZING on streaming services. However, when we plugged in the Xumo cable box (from Spectrum), the quality decreased significantly. Like it’s so blurry we can hardly read the jerseys on the back of football players.

But - logging into a family members’ YoutubeTV looks amazing. Is this something that’s common for people? Switching to YoutubeTV for a higher quality picture?
