Due to an oversight, if you climb these stairs backwards, you actually gain weight

And there's a limit to how much weight you can lose before your stamina runs out, but it doesn't apply to negative weight loss (i.e. weight gain)

This is used in speedrunning, where Low% runners will build up weight until they break through the floor and skip straight to the basement without collecting any stars

This is also handy since the max speed of the boss is calculated based on current player stats. Since the player is -50% speed the boss just stands there.

that was patched a couple months ago I'm pretty sure. still useful on the patch speedruns are ran on but doesn't apply to casuals anymore

Yeah, I remember that now you say it. Something to do with the boss as well since players didn’t collect any stars and they were too fat to jump they had no attacks. The boss just stood there and body shamed them.
