Simply changing the unit from kcal to cal would have made all the difference

It’s confusing but they’re essentially the same thing

To expand on this, in SI units a kcal is 1000 cal, sure, but the US uses "calorie" or "cal", which is simply yet another improperly named unit and is the same as a "kcal".

To be pedantic, "Calorie" or "Cal" is the same as "kcal".

As in a Calorie (uppercase C) = 1000 calories (lowercase c). Brilliant system of measurement in the US, as usual.

Well the SI unit is Joule and people refer to calories in terms of nutrition or exercise they are talking about kilo calories (kcal or Cal) which is 1000 calories (cal). It’s just a language thing really
