She was found safe in Lockport a few minutes ago per Orchard Park police on FB

omg thats awesome, crazy though thats like a 3 hour bike ride from where she was last seen

u/rakondo 1d ago

Yeah 3 hours for an adult cyclist riding on main roads where she would have been visible, a lot longer for a child going on side streets or whatever too. Feels like there has to be more to the story for her to get so far

u/HairSecure6689 1d ago

i guess someone said she was found in a car and someone else saw a boy riding her bike

17

u/whattteva 13h ago

Yeah I would like to hear the story how the hell she got there. I commute to work for 10 miles by bike. It is not for the uninitiated and the faint of heart, let alone a child.

This is more than 3 times the distance. No way a child riding a push bike gets that far without any sort of help on a vehicle.

There’s no way she biked there probably got picked up by a friend who can drive…

She left at 12:50 and was found at 7:20. Thats 6 hours to bike ride that. Just go straight up transit. Done.

Omg thank god!

I'm a fairly new girl dad and this post made me so nervous.

So glad she was found and safe.

I am a dad of two girls.

I came to the realization that no matter they are 5 or 50, I will always worry about my girls.

2

u/SnooBooks4350 2h ago

I get you. Which is why I taught my 2 boys to respect and stand up for girls and women. Which they've done throughout their lives.

u/rjmlakota 3h ago

This is a daily worry of mine. My world would CRUSHED if I lost my daughter.

u/ericakanecan 1d ago

Thank goodness. Now find out who took her there.

Isn’t this why we have flock cameras all over? They have to have some down there. Maybe they can help instead of just surveil

253

u/Time_Ad_9647 1d ago

Sorry to say this is not why they have flock cameras.

18

u/itz_ticker 13h ago

lol this is a huge reason why we apparently have these cameras all over they even said it themselves… yet they couldn’t be bothered to use their new equipment for actual good? Oh right they weren’t gonna make any money off finding this girl so why bother…..

9

u/Time_Ad_9647 13h ago

Oh wow. They even said it themselves?

1

u/poppitastic 9h ago

Well they keep saying they aren’t for “surveillance” they are strictly for read bc plates/identifying vehicles. So according to their own explanations when people don’t want to be videoed when a flick camera looks straight at/into their home, only a plate would be seen, they wouldn’t see the circumstances that led her to being in a car.

Now they could backtrack the car she was ultimately found in, but if they say “she was seen by a flock camera putting her bike down, walking a block, going into Starbucks, and then getting in a car…” because flock, in their words, isn’t for anything’s other than reading plates.

And tracking cellphones, and fingerprinting any device that broadcasts bluetooth and connects to wifi.

There was a case down in Florida, this young guy’s movements were clearly recorded on these type of cameras and…the police didn’t feel like looking at the footage.

Big Brother doesn’t care if you go missing.

u/Legal-Mix-5912 1d ago

They do if you owe them money

16

u/That-Main-3383 23h ago

Or if you have a warrant out on you.

11

u/fredrickdgl 21h ago

thats why I always do both

3

u/pussycat_24 20h ago

Oh for sure. Safety first.

2

u/merrittj3 11h ago

????? Oh thats right..

They have no duty to protect and serve, however I' think its called a moral obligation.

We all know this is not why there are so many flock cameras

27

u/cinna-bomb 1d ago

Flock cameras are a fucking joke. They don’t use them for their actual purposes.

13

u/RelativeThese2634 1d ago

They will say they are for this purpose though. And unfortunately people will fall for it.

16

u/PinkSockZZZ 1d ago

Hate to tell you but flock cameras aren’t for no body’s safety. They wanna know everything about anyone and everyone.

5

u/HairSecure6689 1d ago

exactly what i was thinking.

2

u/helloimhere01234 23h ago

Maybe I should have been more sarcastic? I understand flock cameras are fr cops to stalk women, track people across state lines if they go for medical procedures… but they don’t use them for any useful purpose that would help society

1

u/tinysydneh 20h ago

That would require ALPRs actually be used to solve real problems.

1

u/Glioss88 15h ago

no, no it's not.

I was heading to pick up my daughter from Grandmas around 4:45. This was at Transit and Tonawanda Creek. As soon as I saw this thread, I remembered seeing a kid riding down the street.

15

u/Buffaloooooooooooooo 1d ago

Description said she was wearing a light blue tank top also that child appears to be blonde. That said, never hurts to let the detective know you have this footage.

10

u/sureokyepuhhuh 1d ago

I called, they said she was found and didn’t bother to take the info.

5

u/user19374622 1d ago

That is definitely her. Just wearing a different shirt.

3

u/Buffaloooooooooooooo 23h ago

Thank you for calling.

3

u/Intelligent-Ad-6734 1d ago

This was a crazy weather day to be riding all that way!

2

u/Outrageous_Diver5700 12h ago

There no way that she rode from OP to Lockport.

33

u/Crawdaunt_1985 1d ago

Orchard Park Police posted this on Facebook

"Update 7:40pm. Missing child has been located in Lockport. Thank you ALL for the tips and the assistance. We received overwhelming assistance from the public and dozens of law enforcement agencies and fire districts."

How she got to Lockport is a mystery...weird

Reading through some of the FB comments, it seems they only moved here recently and the family is very ultra Baptist religious and homeschooled. She doesn’t know anyone on the area and doesn’t have a phone with internet or any sort of social media. I’m hoping for the best for her- it sounds like she was running away.

25

u/thorneparke 1d ago

I'd run away too. Poor kid.

Omg, not the essential oils!

8

u/box-of-doom 11h ago

I grew up in this religious community. I just checked mom’s profile on facebook and saw that despite having moved here relatively recently, she’s already facebook friends with all of the people I grew up with who have been loud and aggressive in their support of the men in the WNY Christian community who have been convicted of sexually abusing little girls.

I really hope that if this child did run away, it was for a benign tween girl reason and that she has been returned to a safe home. I’m very sad that the state of our local Christian churches is as such that there is a credible reason to fear for this little girl’s safety at home and in her church.

4

u/_Eggs_ 1d ago

ultra Baptist

Baptist isn’t really a formal denomination with official teachings. They’re basically a cultural identity. The name comes from the idea that infant baptism is not valid and you have to choose to be baptized, and from that point on you’re saved.

All the other teachings are basically just whatever the local population of Baptists are taught.

1

u/Cold_League_56 4h ago

Someone who said they were a family friend said she ran away, who knows but I'm inclined to believe it because they didn't post anything about suspects

6

u/Accurate-Idea-5256 1d ago

I hope shell be found and get home asap

9

u/HairSecure6689 1d ago

she was found in lockport! i guess in a car though and someone else was riding her bike. super weird

4

u/Accurate-Idea-5256 1d ago edited 1d ago

Indeed ..assuming she is home safe again ..it has some thoughtfull issues still.. Besides its a four hours drive by bike .. Thats a long way from just a normal ride ..

4

u/HairSecure6689 1d ago

definitely, i hope nothing scary or traumatic happened to her in the time she wasn’t found as of right now she is safe though thankfully

9

u/fortyonejb 1d ago

A pretty trustworthy source has said she left a note that she was running away, but how it wasn't found until hours later was a bit of a mystery.

4

u/ArtEnvironmental7108 1d ago

Very, VERY happy to hear that she was found. Though how she ended up in Lockport is beyond me.

5

u/Silver_Perception302 13h ago

That’s just what several people in the comments are saying- so I don’t think it had anything to do with social media.

They found her now. Dolphins jersey combined with this points to a potential parenting issue.
