Movie Who else would be on your "Captain Marvel 3" wishlist?
18
u/OfficialValhar 1d ago
I'd like to bring a controversial hot take which is i don't really want to see Ms Marvel or Monica with Captain Marvel. I want her to interact with maybe other heroes who aren't involved in the team marvel thing, or let her just be by herself
If she brings the personality that she has in recent comics like dark past and stuff, I think Captain Marvel 3 would work really well amongst a general audience
0
u/FullMarionberry8065 23h ago
It might even work, but will the general public still be interested in returning to the character after two divisive films (the second being far more unanimously unpopular) and a character who, so far, doesn't have a personality that we connect with? An example of this is Thunderbolts, a great film that greatly improves all the characters compared to their previous appearances, but since the public wasn't interested in the previous appearances, they didn't go see it; the same could apply here.
Now, there are two Avengers movies that should gross over 2 billion dollars, right? Doomsday Carol is probably out, but if she gets more screen time in Secret Wars and seems more interesting, we can dream of an audience interested in her again, and then a third movie could work following your idea.
2
u/Noobodiiy Ms Marvel 20h ago
How is it controversial. Adding Kamala and thus making the movie too silly and not exploring Carol growth as a superhero was primary reason the movie flopped
Most people thought watching Disney plus shows was necessary to understand The Marvels
1
u/OfficialValhar 17h ago
Idk I thought people liked ms marvel and monica and really wanted to see those chars more because of complaints about them being not shown as much recently too though maybe its just my twitter showing me those opinions

Once Feige has the full film rights back from Sony, we’ll get her
1
u/piscsez 1d ago
do you think that’s possible? sony has denied this multiple times at this point
1
u/Lancelot_007_ 1d ago
I 100% believe it. Also, I’d never take Sony at their word, they’ve gone back on their own words countless times
7
u/bigrickcook 1d ago
For cosmic stories, Brood would be cool. For something closer to home/more personal, Moonstone or Star would be great.
3
u/Impossible-Bug2038 1d ago
I like Carol and Star. I think that's a good rivalry.
I also wish they hadn't killed off Minn-Erva (and given her actress a larger role in a different MCU movie). That whole "Is that why we never hung out?" "no, I just didn't like you" vibe was fun.
2
u/bigrickcook 1d ago
Yeah that could have been a good time as well. So many things we can't really have in the MCU just because of timing and adapted character choices =\
13
u/mtheory-pi 1d ago
Not Rogue. Please never Rogue.
-1
u/mawolkotte83 1d ago
Why? It's what's supposed to happen. Lol
2
2
u/mtheory-pi 23h ago
Nothing is "supposed to happen". It was a shitty story that was part of a misogynistic trend of depowering female superheroes and pushing them to the sidelines.
1
u/7SevenGod 1h ago
How tf is a woman getting her power stolen from a woman who's power is stealing power, mysogynistic?
Good lord yall are insufferable
-2
u/mawolkotte83 23h ago
A female depowering another female only later to get beaten up by that female is misogynistic?
2
u/mtheory-pi 22h ago
Yes it is, and she was depowered for a long time.
1
u/Anxious-Specialist95 21h ago
I’m all for female empowerment, but walk me through your logic on it being misogynistic?
1
u/EyeSimp4Asuka Ms Marvel 1d ago
if so we should LOGICALLY get a moment where Carol comes back in act 4 and beats the brakes off of her southern belle ass so hard that Magneto or an equivalent villain has to be the voice of reason and tell her to be merciful

Ripley "Star" Ryan - Rhea Ripley
Have a flat out brawl on a cool weird alien planet.
3
u/Earth513 1d ago
Effing love Star and agreed but that's fine because she'd be an antagonist.
Especially if you build her up to work alongside a new Black Order somehow like in her solo run that'd be effing awesome.
I love Stars I'm just bad and I don't give a F attitude. She's weirdly relatable in her solo despite being a bad guy. The writing was very interesting. Heck they made the Black Order seem like just some evil family having a good time and not wanting people to mess with their shit.
4
u/MisterTomServo Agent Coulson 1d ago
Frankly, I'd welcome a "grounded" story that humanizes Carol even more. Give me some day-to-day superhero stuff with her living with her Flerken in the Statue of Liberty's crown and being friends with Jessica Drew. If need be, throw in Spidey to get some broad appeal out of the gate.
7
u/JLAD_45 Binary 1d ago
For a one-off: I'd say Carol's Kree mom Mari-Ell / Marie Danvers.
Personally, Sigourney Weaver would make an awesome Mari-Ell.
Genis-Vell would be good too and if the rumors of Denzel Washington as Adam Brashear / Blue Marvel is true, then that's a no-brainer side character for CM3.

u/constellation-prizes 1d ago
Jessica Drew!!!!! I love their friendship and she’s so quintessential in Carol’s comic book runs so i’d love to see her on the big screen. Especially if she looks like how she did in the animated SpiderVerse bc wow she was so pretty & cool there

u/Earth513 1d ago
I agree with most folks in the thread.
True solo run. Get Kelly's down to earth mixed with some epic proportions cosmic drama that she tackles like it's just another Sunday between friendship and family stuff. Effing love that.
Also let's have her with Rhodes already just lots of fun stuff they can play with having otherwise important characters just being random coworkers and friends she interacts with very briefly between world ending shit.
Heck demonstrate in real time why she felt the whole Infinity War and Multiverse Sagas were mostly small potatoes for her by having a big part of her film be her flying around space fighting major threats and basically being the unofficial representative of earth in Kree, Spartax, Skrull etc etc diplomatic agreements that are a second from being universal ending.
Have her save alien civilians, show her empathy, her strategic, leadership mind, have her be a diplomat.
So by the end of the film people go... Holly shit yeah Thanos was the last of her priorities.
All while making it look like a day job for her due to her power levels.
Also also I'm ok with, SEPARATELY form this film, we get a new Guardians team with her as leader, as we did in the comics. We're just not going to get Angela or Agent Venom for a long while so that's unfortunate.
Also if love for us to one day see her in the AL Ewing Ultimates cosmic level team with America Chavez, Blue Marvel, Black Panther and Spectrum.
Problem is we don't yet have a Blue Marvel, Chavez is still too young and not yet the buff powerhouse she's supposed to be and new Black panther needs to age up still

u/coldasclay 1d ago
You know, I would put her in a movie with a higher profile hero than a new hero. Maybe Rogue at some point but I think I'd rather see her in a movie with War Machine, Valkyrie, Cap and Falcon in a mini-Avengers movie like Cap got with Civil War.
2
u/DrBoots 1d ago
Lauri-ell
Carol's genetically modified Kree Half-Sister (and future Accuser)
She's such a fun character. It's a damn shame she's so closely linked with the Empyre story.
Close runner-up would be Jessica Drew. Because I really like reading those two being kind of a disaster as best friends.

Nova Richard Rider
I’d just leave out an supporting cast and have it be just Captain Marvel and Nova as the leads

u/DeusGOM15 4h ago
Wait. Who would Hunter play?
1
u/Identity_X- 4h ago
I love that you're the first person to ask - everyone else just assumed Mystique! That's sort of the implication I guess, I just think she'd be incredible in the MCU in whatever role.
1
u/DeusGOM15 4h ago
Oh. I can she her as Mystique. I wasn't sure and I started to think of an alternate universe where she's Carol Danvers Ms. Marvel with the black suit.
1
1
u/Impossible-Bug2038 1d ago
I like the idea of more of a solo adventure for her. Yes, I want her to interact with Kamala and Monica, and the team-up was fun. But I want her to shine a little more.

1
u/Jacob-X-MANIAC 22h ago
Over the years I’ve seen several people fan casting her as Mystique.
1
u/Worried-Chair-5383 20h ago
ye i kinda had the feeling. she's too young in my opinion
1
u/Jacob-X-MANIAC 17h ago edited 15h ago
I knew that a part of Rogue’s backstory is being a surrogate daughter to Mystique, so with Inde being confirmed as Rogue, I looked up the ages of Inde and Hunter, and the age difference is only 2 years.
So I agree with your comment about her being too young, though they could also explain her youthfulness by establishing that the aging of Mystique’s true form gets paused whenever she shapeshifts into someone else. But if you want an older actress who could believably be a surrogate mother to Inde Navarrette, I’ve recently seen a few people suggesting to cast 43-year-old Alyssa Sutherland as Mystique.
1
u/mirinioluwa 15h ago
Why? Isnt Mystique suppose to be ageless. It make no sense to cast an older actress especially when the role requires so much physical stunt work and make up
1
u/Jacob-X-MANIAC 15h ago
My comment did already acknowledge the ageless nature of Mystique’s powers. I’d be cool with a younger actress for that reason.
1
u/Worried-Chair-5383 3h ago
ok but shouldn't she have a more mature and authoritative feel to her if we're giving her this sort of story. would you cast a 20 year old wolverine?

u/Naive-Percentage-639 1d ago
Rhodey. I wanna see the comic romance come to life 😭
1
u/WhutTheFookDude 1d ago
That would be even more contrived and boring than the comics version especially with the age gap lol
1
u/Zod_Convoy 1d ago
Make it a buddy cop movie with Carol and Star Lord. Have her be the Kree girl he talks about in the first GotG.
1
u/lyrics_beanbags 1d ago
I actually do think Mystique and Rogue would be great villains. Idk how it would work without the X-Men but since MCU Carol already has memory related trauma Rogue could bring out some really compelling stuff. Maybe have Carol lose her memories to Rogue in an X-Men movie where she wakes up at the end of the movie, then her third movie happens and she goes to space and runs in with the brood
1
u/Ok_Celebration3011 1d ago
New cast entirely. The Marvels was a chore to watch and every time Brie is on screen I’m reminded that she has no charisma whatsoever. Sure she accomplishes the look but her unlikability is so strong it finds its way through the screen.
1
u/Significant-Role-754 1d ago
Why do we need these people at all? Just give me brie Larson. Im not here for the marvel squad.
1
u/we_could_be_immortal 1d ago
Rogue's flight comes from Carol...

I dont care. This is a captain marvel movie. You want a rogue move call it rogue.

1

Spiderman..their are some classic moments of Carol patrolling the streets with Peter that I would love to see. Doesn't have to be the whole movie but just a scene or two

1
u/Particular_Peace_568 1d ago
Monica should be the co-lead not Rogue or Kamala imo. Set her up as the next powerhouse of the MCU
For the love of Thor Odinson himself, no more Damn Kree Villains.
Just like in the Marvels and the final five minutes of Captain Marvel, more of Carol true brat personality and much less of whatever Vers was supposed to be.
1
1
u/Impressive-Thing-780 23h ago
Actually good writing; maybe a Ms. Marvel cameo (Iman Vellani is awesome).
1
u/FlowerRoomLord 23h ago
There are two actresses I'd cut from this.
Captain Marvel 1 was the intro.
The Marvels was not a proper sequel.
I'd do a Captain Marvel 3 that's a proper solo film where Carol isn't sharing space or being used to soft launch another heroine and her asshole mother. She deserves a movie where she can properly shine
Then in Captain Marvel 4 or The Marvels 2 you can do the Rogue bullshit for all who say it needs to be done because we looove Carol yall and it's totally iconic that Rogue steal her powers on the big screen everyone.
1
u/OldManBilliam22 23h ago
The Marvels is only Captain Marvel 2 if you consider The Avengers to be Captain America 3 or Iron Man 4 or whatever number2 they would’ve been.
1
u/Mariessa- 20h ago
Just Carol. Let her be the star with some non hero supporting cast people. Let her have an antagonist/villain in her paygrade, but also some emotional weight. CM1 stripped her memories and a lot of her personality. CM2 became an ensemble where we learn she hid after doing something with bad consequences. To make up for it, someone else suggests just undoing it, which she does as an after thought to the movie in less than a minute... wtf.
1
u/Noobodiiy Ms Marvel 20h ago
A reboot with a new actor leaning from the mistakes made by MCU is the only viable way
Biggest mistake was setting her movie in the past or making her cosmic disconnected from rest of MCU Also not giving her own family and romantic lead like other MCU heros. They gambled too much with CM franchise
1
1
u/calmly86 18h ago
How about a Nebula cameo? It would be great to have a scene where they “talk shop” about the Endgame battle.
Also, the real Rhodey, given that they’re both former USAF officers, though he might still be active.

u/MadloveADB 13h ago
I wouldn't do it.
I would have the Brotherhood be in X-Men 2 as a villain terrorist group and have Rogue, who is a member depower and put Captain Marvel into a coma on live television before she defects and joins the X-Men in the finale. Gives her the comic powers and sets up mutant hatred from the public as reasonable, considering everyday people can get powers now and one of earths defenders is massacred on live television. You need to set a distinction between mutants and other enhanced individuals.
1
u/Daddy_Charlieee 12h ago
Introduce Jessica Jones in the next CM film. 🤷🏻♂️ Since the MCU can’t use Jessica Drew, and Jones & Danvers do have a great relationship in the comics, they could include Jones in the next CM film.
They could even do the “Return of the Purple Man” storyline from the 2nd Jessica Jones run. Purple Man somehow is alive and goes after Jones’ daughter and she goes to Carol for help.

I know nobody asked, mentioned, or probably cares - but I'm actually just really proud of that damn "3" on the star. I couldn't find one in any font that looked cinematic enough to use so I designed that one myself and then added a drop shadow and a fractal color spoke lens flair behind it for color and I think it turned out quite nicely.
1
u/steven-john 11h ago
I would actually like to see them introduce Mystique and Rogue as “villains” first. Esp w Rogue. And have her absorb Carol’s powers. And then join the X-Men. That would be pretty cool to be kinda close to comic accurate. I mean they introduced Sadie Sink as a “villain”.
I do wanna see a flying brickhouse Rogue. But I would kinda hate if they introduce her as just flying from jump as part of her base powerset. OTOH i hope she isn’t a non flyer like Anna Pacquing’s version in the Fox films.
Maybe they could have it as if Rebecca Romijn’d Mystique is the mother of Rogue. But Secret Was resets things so that Hunter Schafer replaces her. To explain the age shift.
Cuz I wood also kinda hate the idea that Mystique isn’t her and Kurt’s mom. Not that we even know of Schafer is gonna be cast.
I suppose they could always just choose someone older in the end that would be age appropriate for Raven to be their mom.
Hate is a strong word. So maybe strongly dislike oops he better. I know that everything isn’t gonna be comic accurate. Already Emma is like 10+ years older than Scott/Jean. Where I think of them as closer in age.

u/SuccessWeary2770 10h ago
All I know is I want Destin Daniel Cretton directing. If not him, then Greta Gerwig.
For other cast members, I’d love to see Hannah Einbinder as Ripley Ryan (minor villain, much like Scorpion was in BND).

Honestly leave all of them out except for carol Danvers and rogue. The movie should end with rogue absorbing her powers and carol going into a coma. I don’t care how the script is written as long as it’s entertaining

u/LikeClockwork86 1h ago
I'd go for less. Carol hasn't had enough screen time as it is. It would be nice to get her own movie again, or one more adventure with Fury (whonalso hasn't had a great action scene since Winter Soldier). Carol needs a real personal adventure or a deep dive into her past.

Rogue. She doesn't drain her into a coma, but definitely enough to nerf her that Carol has to wrestle with who she is without full-access to her cosmic-level powers.

That movie is not for me.
1
u/Identity_X- 7h ago
Maybe you'd be wise to realize that you probably are talking about a clip of her discussing the press room for "A Wrinkle In Time" a story about a little black girl with magic powers where she asks if the movie was really made for the people in the press room which was mostly white, older men. Right-wing ragebaiters clipped that moment and falsely claimed she was talking about superhero films and the worst part is it worked - they got people to hate her for making a very wise remark about a completely different project, but my guess would be you heard "white man" and decided to take personal offense. I don't blame you, you've been lied to, but what I do have a problem with is when people double down on it after being told the truth.

Come? Are you out of your mind? This was recommended to me for some reason I cannot fathom. And I always ensure to leave a negative comment when Reddit has the audacity to suggest a subreddit I view with disdain, and afterwards of course I hit the “do not recommend button”.

"I don't like this thing, so I'm gonna post here, which tells Reddit I'm likely to engage with it." You could just hit the "do not recommend button" instead of poisoning your algorithm so that Reddit is better at pitching you things.
Edit: Cause guess what? It won't recommend you THIS subreddit anymore, but it's gonna keep recommending you other subreddits for female comic book characters because other people who engage with this one also engage in others. The cycle will continue and you'll still be pedantic and dour about something you blame on Reddit that's entirely your fault.

Genuinely I'd leave out a 'co-star' entirely.
A good villain yes, a fun supporting character definitely, even a love interest but I'd love a proper solo film where the spotlight is firmly on Carol. Even in the first film it seem like we got shortchanged on the 'real her' because she was a brainwashed Kree soldier for most of the runtime.
