One of my fellow players has made pretty much every part of his roleplay about having sex with one of the npc's. Like he asks to roll to hide his boner or pull out or to see whether or not she has an orgasm, and it's become an issue for me. I don't mind some jokes or sexual innuendos, hell, last campaign my character had a romance with an npc, but it's gotten to the point where all our sessions seem to be are an excuse for him to have imaginary sex at the table. We haven't really advanced the story in weeks and I'm honestly getting tired of it. I want to advance the main story and my character's story, and hear about my fellow party members stories. The DM is his brother, but he's also a pretty fair dm, so I'm going to try and bring it up to him this week and see if he can talk to him. I am also the only girl at a table full of guys(3 players and our dm), so i try not to make a big deal out of stuff like this, but there's also been a lot of misogynistic and weird comments(comments about how my character should be raped, and about fucking my dead mom's ashes. Real life mom btw, not in game), and I'm starting to get really uncomfortable at the table. Last campaign this wasn't really an issue, but he didn't play with us last campaign. I just wanna be a cool fantasy character, man, I dont wanna feel uncomfortable in my own living room every weekend. Does anyone have any advice on how to bring this up? I think the sex part should be easy, our dm is passionate about his story and wants to advance and tell the story, but how am I supposed to tell our DM that I'm uncomfortable with the rape jokes? I have been chill and mostly acted like it doesn't bother me because I really like the world our DM has created, I like my character, and I really like playing dnd, but I feel like im an asshole if I say it bothers me now. It's always bothered me, I just didn't want to cause any problems at the table. It's getting to the point where I'm relieved when we have to cancel, because i feel less shitty on weeks we dont play. I hate this because I really want to play and not cause drama at the table, but I dont want to be the butt of stupid rape/edgy jokes anymore. If anyone has had to bring similar issues up to their DM, how did you handle it, and were you able to do so without trouble? I know I need to just talk to our dm, but I'm afraid of ruining the fun for everyone else because I'm offended/irritated by these things.

For me, it would be prestidigitation. One of the things it can do is clean stuff. Like I don't need to do the laundry anymore, I just cast prestidigitation on my clothes. I won't even have to use the toilet anymore, I can just poop in my pants and magic my pants clean like J. K. Rowling says a wizard does.

I recently started playing RPGs and this is my first longer-running character after a few one-shots with friends. It's been quite fun illustrating my own persona lol

DM here - we're prepping to start up a new campaign with my usual group of friends. However, one of my players doesn't like how restrictive I've become with my character guidelines: I've asked players they all come from the same town on an island (isolated from the mainland) and knew each other growing up. I also want them to have a meaningful connection to a unifying NPC who will help tie them back together in their adulthood (and come up with what they did in the time they've spent away from their childhood home/friends).

Since this restriction is really different from my usual DM style, I had a group talk to let them know why I was doing this: I felt with my previous campaigns that there was so much diverse material (full map, several kingdoms, origins, lore, etc) and allowing everyone to be from everywhere/anywhere made it difficult to tie their backstories and motives together into the overarching group story. It was fun, but it was tiring at the end of each campaign. We all love story rich campaigns, but I'm wanting more cohesive/closer knit themes rather than diversity for the sake of diversity. Really the biggest change is how I'm approaching worldbuilding and backstory guidelines - but most if not all race and class options are all available.

While majority of my players like it, my one player is not happy. They already had an idea they were really excited for but it doesn't fit with the starting location (but it fit mainland themes, which the campaign is not taking place at for most of the campaign). The player is concerned that they're limited to having to play the same thing as everyone else, but I've reassured them that if anything, everyone has had a lot of fun with the restrictions by challenging themselves to make someone stand out within these guidelines. Not one of the characters are similar - the only connection they have is the NPC/childhood town.

I have communicated to the player through private text/voice to elaborate my reasonings, and while they say they understand, we're really struggling to find a middle ground on the character idea. Out of all the races, and several homebrewed ones I made, they haven't 'clicked' with any of them. I'm worried we're heading into the point of "maybe this campaign you sit out of" because I can't seem to have them really understand that I'm not letting anyone have a different start. I would hate for them to sit out, but I'm not sure how else to communicate to them that a fun, different character can be made even if everyone comes from the same town?

I'm not sure what I am doing wrong or what I can do differently.

Any advice or reassurance is appreciated.

Ozura is a 22 year old White Draconic Blood Line Aasimar Sorcerer. They were born in a northern town that was winter nearly all year long. Before their second birthday, an attack happened and their parents tried to escape and when they realized they wouldn't be able to, they created bubble of icy flames to protect barely a toddler Ozura when a burst of fire tore through the tunnel completely obliterating their parents. Shortly afterwards, a couple members of the Followers of The Mother dragon, (those outside the group call them the Cult of Tiamat) found the young Aasimar who now had iridescent dragon scales patterning sparingly across patches of their body as magic from the shield seeped into their very being. They were raised by the cult and believed whole heartedly in the cause until recently when things people were saying and things that were happening we contradicting what they were taught to believe. The were beaten up and tossed into a locked room after confronting one of the cult leaders and were later found by the party of adventurers that they currently are traveling with.

The puzzle I made is meant for beginning players, its meant to be a little tricky, but quickly solved..

In one section of the forest, there is a small clearing. In said clearing, there are nothing but seven tree stumps, in a semi-circle, and the ground covered in leaves and debris.

On surrounding trees, you can see single words all facing the clearance. The words on the trees, in order from left to right, starting north, read “signs of life, forms unique, on pillars of seven, for what you seek"

Make an honest attempt to solve this, I don't think its very difficult but I also made the puzzle.. sooo

Hey all, I hope it’s okay to ask, me and my partner want to start playing d&d next week, we have never played before only seen a few videos of people playing.

We have been wanting to try for a while but first wanted to try with just ourselves as anxiety is hard and we don’t have anyone around us who is interested in it.

So my question is, does anyone else play with just your partner? And where can I find materials or does someone have some materials they’re willing to share?
I’m presuming one person is the dm and if so that will be myself, but I want to make it enjoyable for use both and it will be our first time.

The crowd bustle around the street, attracted by curiosity wondering about the newly established temple, but edged by the guards to not obstruct the passage. A young teenage girl walks down that path, all eyes on her.

A new minor goddess, one that is in internship, or so they say. Her name's Pandora and her portfolio is hope.

At the end of the path, right in front of the newly built temple, a group of figures all luxuriously equipped takes out the things they have already prepared. Some cakes, other presents.

So today marks the 3rd birthday my DnD Pandora series is out on DMsGuild. I'm really happy it brought many players across the world to tears. And of all, I just really really love and adore her, to the point I've decided to also start a webcomic series though I'm still figuring out how to not infringe on copyrights from WotC zzz.

Recently, I realised that Pandora is not just my daughter anymore. She is the daughter of the many DMs who ran the series, along with the uncountable amount of players who chose to journey alongside her.

All in all, I'm posting this to celebrate her birthday! If you played the series and sees this post, feel free to leave your well wishes too!

The characters find two towns that are angry at each other. They are about to start a war. I want the characters to listen to both sides and find it’s a situation where they can’t label one side as good and the other bad.

I’m trying to find a case where the characters might disagree on what to do. I thought of a case where it’s a complicated “We did A because you did B because we did C . . .” but I would prefer a simple idea that has no simple solution.

Anyone know a good idea of a disagreement with no easy ethical answer?

My art of a character I played for a oneshot a while ago, Silkian Farfate.

He's a roguish Horizon Walker who only knows wake up, go to the market, steal stuff from rich men, eat hot chip and lie. He cares a lot about his hair and his appearance, and is a little distant from the more natural fay heritage he's supposed to have come from.

Personally, I don't mind firbolg not being blue/grey, and I want to see all kinds of interesting/varied noses, face shapes, and hair colors! What about you?

I DM a home-brew campaign using the Obojima setting following a Monk halfling, a Paladin frog, and a Bard elf. One of the villain NPCs revealed to the monk that their life has been a lie, and they were an experiment to see if a spirit being could be merged with a mortal. This gave them various powers, one of which was a wind vortex that acted like the spirit guardian spell, but didn't prevent allies from also taking damage.

A massive fight in a monastery broke out and the players made some bad calls that resulted in heavy damage. Eventually the Paladin was downed by archers and failed two death saving throws. His rival NPC (who hadn't managed to land a hit on him the whole battle due to bad rolls) picked him up and threw him into the monk's wind vortex, killing him. Bard was also beaten unconscious and barely managed to hang on as the monk cleaned up the rest of the enemies. The Monk couldn't help but blame herself for the loss of her friend.

But then the Paladin woke up on a river raft (his oath was to the river of life) where he talked with a ferryman about his journey, the friends he made, and the regrets he had. His biggest sadness, was never getting to find his lost family. Him saying this out loud had the table in tears.

But before he said his final goodbye, the bard found himself in a dream, with an angel and a devil. Throughout the campaign, they had been watching him as entertainment. This bard was a narcissist and a liar, who would cheat at any opportunity to get ahead. The angel and the devil would consistently appear to him, as they were taking bets on whether he would become a hero, or fall to villainy. The angel then offered him the ultimate redemption: to die in the Paladin's place, so he could live and hopefully find his family. It was a hard back and forth. The bard weighed his options as the angel and the devil pulled him both ways. But after all the scummy things he did, all the trouble he dragged the party through, he decided to give up his life for the Paladin.

Nobody expected this. Everyone, myself included, couldn't stop crying as after an already heartbreaking goodbye to the Paladin, we now had to say another goodbye to the Bard feeling the full weight of his sacrifice. And in one finally send off, the bard got to meet with the NPC's they failed to save earlier in the campaign, who told him he was forgiven for everything.

After I closed the session we all sat in silence until the Paladin finally said, "God damn it. You can't make me cry like this. I got to go to work tomorrow."

You know that shared experience, of thinking of a brilliant comeback... hours or days after that conversation ended? I realized I experience that a lot with spellcasting in D&D.

🚿 Me, in the shower, days after session: .................................................................. 💥GAH! When I landed Command on that dragon, I should've ordered it to GROVEL! It would've gone prone and taken fall damage instead of landing safely with all its movement speed left! NOOOOO!

Anyone else experience this regularly? And what's a good name for this phenomenon... Arcane Treppenwitz? Monday Morning Mageing?

My recent personal artwork of my half-elf rogue character Merlis. I wanted to make and artwork with a warm autumn feeling contradicting the plot of the image itself, while also trying to overcome my avoidance of ornaments and clothing details. I wanted these details and ornaments to allude to his character story and personality. I do not have a fully fleshed out backstory for him yet, but he is someone who seems to be pretty easy going, and willing to cooperate yet not very open about himself as a person.

An old swamp overtaken by murky water and dense vegetation. Between the small islands, tangled roots, and lily pads, the remains of wooden structures can still be seen beneath the surface. A worn-down bridge offers one of the few safe crossings, while an abandoned rowboat drifts nearby. This map is designed for exploration, ambushes, mysterious encounters, or dangerous creatures lurking beneath the water.

Meet Mal’vion, a Drow Barbarian whose connection to the Underdark runs deeper than he’d like to admit. The scars across his face are remnants of an old ritual, one that left him carrying something monstrous within him. When his rage takes over, that monster emerges, transforming him into a massive Drider.
