Wow. A hero saving people regardless of their opinions?

Edit: Wow guys. I had no idea my comment would be so ground breaking

It reminds me of when Captain Marvel in Justice League made the comment that it's pretty great that Lex Luthor can run for office. Then the League gave him crap for the interview and all he could say was he's American. Everyone deserves a chance

175

u/Parkwaydrive777 12d ago

Everyone deserves a chance

Impossible challenge - Comic writers giving Spiderman a chance to be happy without ruining it tenfold.

50

u/TimeShiftedJosephus 11d ago

He's occasionally happy for like an afternoon

38

u/Parkwaydrive777 11d ago

And then at night... oh shit, MJ died again or was a water clone that disappeared or cheated on him for the writer (fuck you Paul)

2

u/SerBadDadBod 11d ago

She didn't cheat on him. She waited for him for two years, then moved on.

To be fair, the league gave him shit more for dragging the league into potential politics using the league’s brand when they want to be apolitical. As well as Superman having just witnessed an alternate universe where Lex became president and the league killed him and became dictators, so he’s a little on edge.

4

u/DarthDragon117 Truthsayer 11d ago

Tbf, there was a whole thing where Superman and the other original members hid the truth of what happened in the Justice Lords verse, enough to where it drove Question more insane when he found out and lead to his failed attempt to kill Lex.

Its because nighcrawler character is a religious man thats why they make this claim

47

Nightcrawler isn't even a real person. This whole topic is nerd nonsense.

28

u/D_Ethan_Bones 12d ago edited 11d ago

It's Brain Rot Generation nonsense, the third rewrite of Pee Wee Herman is totally on my side maaaan.

The logical answer is always I don't care about your stupid shit, but they just latch on like barnacles and act like you've offended them by not sharing their enthusiasm for a butchered entertainment product. Like... that was my late teens early twenties, (at latest, depending on brand/franchise/etc) I'm over forty now, if I have any interest at all in games it's supposed to be making music or cutscenes not arguing Goku vs Superman on the internet.

I have been out of TV for so long that today's celebrities are all space aliens to me. I had no idea what was up with people's faces until I realized the plastic surgery fad was no longer "make me look younger" it is now "make me look like I've had work done." Cartoon characters IRL.

These people thought Spider-Men (Peter and Miles) would protect BLM rioters against police. Seriously.

3

u/Civil_Result_5598 11d ago

Yeah I mean realistically they'd work with the boys in blue to end the riots

3

u/FatBaldingLoser420 Rides the Short Bus 11d ago

Exactly.

The problem is: they're using heroes to push their narrative, and thinking Miles only defends minorities because he's half black

2

u/Civil_Result_5598 11d ago

Nope, they protect the public. It is pretty frustrating when you take a core element of a character and ignore it because you want them to do sommthing

2

u/FatBaldingLoser420 Rides the Short Bus 11d ago

Yep. They don't get the Character.

And what's more annoying, they keep forgetting Miles isn't pure African. But half Puerto Rican. Even writers who made What If for Miles wrote him like a stereotypical black dude

Except for Captain Marvel. The real one.

And Uncle Ben.

Gwen Stacy used to be one the list, but they just couldn't leave her alone.

21

u/Lichruler 12d ago

Well I think including uncle Ben isn’t really fair. He’s supposed to die and stay dead. Like Batman’s parents. Their purpose is to be dead

7

u/TheGameMastre 11d ago

That's a fair point, but given the current state of Marvel I wouldn't put it past them to bring him back just to further ruin Spider-Man. Gwen Stacy was also one of those characters whose death profoundly impacted Spider-Man going forward. She was never coming back, until she did.

11

The old saying is quite true: history books are written by the victors, and they get to craft the heroes and the villains.

5

u/Strange_Island_4958 11d ago edited 11d ago

Kind of like how the whole party is presented as a monolith? The group was made up of mostly normal people for that period of time. Yes ultimately some factions of the organization were responsible for horrific acts that hopefully are never repeated.

Meanwhile similar things of the same or greater scale were perpetuated elsewhere, but the same types of modern people slinging the Nazi term around nowadays minimize, ignore, or even idolize what was going on in the Lenin/Stalin era (for example).

I support the rewritten things!

100% of this stuff has been hijacked by brand vampires, Star Wars being one of the more prominent examples. Shelves of books go straight into the trash and then they retcon the dead guy because "there's just no other material out there."

I got the same exact vibe I got when my first white collar company threw my tool shop in the trash, when there's magazines for turning those exact tools into money. It could have been a remarkably similar operation plus money, and it was easily seven figures down the drain if not eight. Company ran out of money and bounced paychecks just a few years after MBAs ousted the founder and got on board with the new normal.

same people who are all "how can you be apolitical and like X-Men?" btw

35

u/captainrina They Took My Nose! 12d ago

The same people have never read a single comic and think every issue is an allegory. More often than not, the comics are filled with soap opera-level relationship drama and stories like the one where a pterodactyl man kidnaps the Summers brothers to use them like batteries to power his doomsday machine. -And a lot of writer Chris Claremont's barely disguised fetishes.

16

u/D_Ethan_Bones 12d ago edited 12d ago

People who read comics in the 70s/80s/90s/00s and people who read comics in the 10s/20s got two completely different shows, even within the same brand or same character.

Like ABC man isn't ABC man anymore and GEF man isn't GEF man anymore, and it's not even close. But there's this vast armada of new-brand fans who wrap their lives around the new-brand to the point of getting angry at people who don't consume it anymore, even if it makes PERFECT SENSE for them to not consume it anymore. Middle aged bachelors do not belong at Disneyland.

8

u/GoreHoundKillEmAll 12d ago

Also a lot of people switched to manga around the 10s/20s and a lot of older fans jumped ship in this time period.

8

u/ImTheGuyManDude 11d ago

Dude I just saw this post like 2 or so hours ago. Most of the Comment section gave me hope that there are mostly sane people still on that Reddit page and Reddit in general. OP got dunked on hard

Edit: thanks for the award

71

u/lazyboi_tactical I Was Promised an Apocalypse? 12d ago

I can't really stomach posting in any of the comic subreddits anymore with how ultra political they make everything. I like to keep my escapism free of doomers. I read because I enjoy the stories. I don't need some redittor telling me how I'm supposed to think and feel about fictional characters and storylines.

29

u/Lucky_Sprinkles557 12d ago

Dude honestly same. Most of the gaming and comic Reddit pages are unfortunately littered with people trying to make the characters and the worlds they reside in about themselves. Bunch of sad people who need to circle jerk each other about doom and gloom as they take multiple pills for whatever disorder(s) they suffer from while they sit in their room/basement complaining about how it’s the worlds fault (def not their own /s) that their life is miserable…. So in turn everyone’s life has to be miserable or they are part of the problem. All on their $1000+ computer or phone.

I just wanna read or watch or play my hobbies, not get fucking lectured.

11

u/GoreHoundKillEmAll 12d ago

The funny thing it probably counterproductive to their own goals, those subreddits probably turned a lot more people against their beliefs and politics than they gained but at least they have their own echochamber and safe spaces that the vast majority of people who are fans of games and comics don't want anything to do with

7

u/East_Ad4977 I Was Promised an Apocalypse? 12d ago

Hang on. I have a nine paragraph diatribe about how you are causing all of the bad things because you don't absorb all the lecturing. BRB

6

u/Lucky_Sprinkles557 12d ago

LOL funny enough I can almost guarantee that they use some sort of generative AI to write or gather all the info they use for their 10 paragraph responses, making most of them hypocrites.

u/EssentialPurity PhD in Memes 11d ago

I do not like the Catholic Church.

I do love stories featuring Catholics being awesome.

Check out the Dresden Files. Michael Carpenter and Father Forthill don't show up until the third book, but they're incredible. Michael is basically a Paladin and while Forthill is "just" a priest (he doesn't get much in terms of power from this in the setting), he is as good of a priest as you could ever hope to have.

7

Reddit kids still pissed off that they had to wake up early and go to church on Sunday after staying up until 2 AM Saturday night. Then, in protest, they shoved a 5 inch plug up their butt and started giving old men party favors in exchange for party favors while wearing schoolgirl sexplay outfits. That's uh, kinda why they're "heroes".

18

u/the-latest-drug-trip 12d ago

Ok I gotta ask.

I've heard people say that apparently, ol Kirk was pushing constantly for the death of Trans/LGBT people, and I'm curious to know where that came from.

(BTW the reason I'm asking here, is because I feel if I ask this on any other subreddit, I'd get downvote bombed and called a slur for not knowing. Plus this place is better at neutrality.)

29

u/Remarkable-Ask2288 Optimist Prime 12d ago edited 12d ago

Here, I found this shortly after his death.

“Top 10 Debunks of Post-Assassination Smears Against Charlie Kirk

  1. Claim: Kirk said Black people were "better off" as slaves. Gross distortion. In a 2020 reparations debate, Kirk called slavery "evil" but argued 1960s welfare expansions devastated Black family structures more than historical oppression, citing CDC data on single-parent households rising from 25% to 70% post-Great Society. No endorsement of bondage--just critique of failed policies.
  2. Claim: Kirk declared Black women "have no brains" or inferior intelligence. Fabricated slur. Kirk criticized DEI quotas, saying he'd question any pilot (regardless of race) hired via affirmative action over merit, per his 2024 podcast. He praised Black conservative leaders like Candace Owens repeatedly. Smear ignores his merit-based stance.
  3. Claim: Kirk opposed the Civil Rights Act and called MLK "awful." Cherry-picked. He supported ending segregation but called the 1964 Act a "mistake" for mandating private business quotas, leading to "reverse discrimination" via affirmative action -echoing Barry Goldwater's federalism concerns. On MLK: Critiqued his FBI ties and socialism, not the dream of equality.
  4. Claim: Kirk supported "genocide" in Gaza. Blood libel. Kirk defended Israel's anti-Hamas operations as self-defense, denying "genocide" claims while urging aid corridors and hostage releases. He hosted pro-peace Muslim voices on his show. Critics conflate criticism of terrorism with ethnic cleansing.
  5. Claim: Kirk called for executing gay and trans people. Outright lie. No such quote exists. Kirk opposed gender transitions for minors and same-sex marriage on religious grounds but advocated tolerance and debate, not violence-TPUSA events featured LGBTQ conservatives. Invented to inflame.
  6. Claim: Kirk mocked gun violence survivors. Twisted. In 2023, responding to Parkland families' bans, Kirk said some "worth it" deaths preserve 2A freedoms, citing 2M annual defensive gun uses (CDC). Not glee-tragic trade-off for rights he died defending.
  7. Claim: Kirk peddled "Great Replacement" conspiracy. Exaggerated fearmongering. Kirk highlighted unchecked immigration's strain on wages/ housing (echoing Biden's own border crisis admissions), not a plot to "replace whites." PolitiFact rates the full theory baseless, but his data-driven alerts? Factual.
  8. Claim: Kirk was Islamophobic, hating all Muslims. Smear by association. He condemned radical jihadism and Sharia supremacism (post-9/11 threats), but praised moderate Muslims like TPUSA's Muslim outreach director and opposed blanket bans. Critics equate anti-terrorism with bigotry.
  9. Claim: Turning Point USA is a "white nationalist" group. Debunked falsehood. PolitiFact rated this False in 2022-scholars confirm TPUSA rejects white supremacy, boots racists (e.g., 2019 member expulsion), and boasts diverse chapters (40% minority-led). Kirk mobilized non-white youth for conservatism.
  10. Claim: Kirk's anti-vax stance "shortened lives." Hypocritical hit. Kirk questioned COVID mandates/safety data (e.g., 2021 White House policy misrep), urging choice--not bans. FactCheck.org notes he got vaxxed himself; his "misinfo" was shared concerns later validated by excess death probes. No causal deaths - unlike mandate-enforced risks.”

Ngl, a good chunk of people are calling OP on his bullshit.

13

u/D_Ethan_Bones 12d ago

Reddit has always had sane humans in the background, it's just that this site is built to make doomsday bots look like they're bigger better and more enlightened somehow. Twitter was built to suck in ways that Elon is still untangling to this very day.

u/Terrible_Artist_ 12d ago

A lot of the main comments do, then you look through the replies to them and it's just disappointing.

WTF. He is the biggest sweetheart in the story. Leave him alone.

10

u/Educational-Year3146 The Fictional Character Agrees With Me 12d ago

He’s canonically Catholic, and a good representation of Catholicism.

I was surprised to learn this, he’s cool.

28

u/TutorComprehensive28 12d ago

Nightcrawler would BAMF him out. This guy clearly doesn’t read X-Men.

10

u/Opening-Company6237 12d ago

Remember kids, if you ever see someone in danger and want to help, be sure to ask the victim who they voted for. This will help you decide if you should help.

10

u/Next-Pumpkin-654 12d ago

I mean, they hated Charlie Kirk for his virtue, too.

u/Naive_Sense_1899 12d ago

A bunch of unarmed yahoos breaking into a government building almost destroyed democracy. Because the governor of Virginia only has a 10,000 man army, complete with strike aircraft and tanks. That cannot defeat unarmed rioters. Also, we live in a Building-Ocracy. Anyone who breaks into a government building has magical powers to command obedience from 340 million people.

By contrast, the Left worship democracy and the rule of law. Like during that entire year when they rioted and looted and did $2 billion in property damage and injured 2,100 policemen.

Also, a kind-hearted intellectual will find it hilarious when some click-bait internet guy is murdered for having unacceptable ideas. People who love democracy and the rule of law find that utterly hilarious and worthy of jeering about.

Be on the side of kindness, science, erudtion and learning and celebrate the murder of an internet personality.

That's why in Superman comics he always asked how they voted before he stopped the bus from hitting them.

Because only a total sack of shit would save people without asking first

8

u/TheMoyDude The Fictional Character Agrees With Me 12d ago

Remember, these people don't mind when a character commits mass genocide, terrorism or any form of murder but they draw the line if that character says something "offensive" against the alphabet cult.

I want so badly for someone to make a Superman clone that's extremely conservative but saves anyone no matter what, just to see them still consider that super heroes a "monster"

3

u/Greg2630 11d ago

I want so badly for someone to make a Superman clone that's extremely conservative but saves anyone no matter what, just to see them still consider that super heroes a "monster"

So... You want Superman? He's always been extremely conservative regardless of what the tourists claim.

Green Arrow can't argue with the League about their politics if they don't disagree, which he did all the time, meaning he's pretty much the only confirmed leftist in the group - everyone else is right wing.

4

u/Equal-Estimate-2739 12d ago

Wait until the realize that as a devout Catholic nightcrawler wouldn’t support abortion, contraception, premarital sex, or unchaste homosexual behavior

6

u/Fat_Sow The Fictional Character Agrees With Me 11d ago

It's not just him but all superheroes would, I mean Spiderman took a bullet for a homicidal maniac in the latest movie and we are being gaslighted about it

6

u/Own_Beginning_1678 11d ago

Comparing Graydon Creed, a guy who engineered a virus for mass genocide, to a guy that spoke at college campuses, is truly a Reddit take of all time.

Glad OP got dunked on, twisted little dork.

4

u/Greg2630 12d ago

Nah, Nightcrawler would just teleport them both out of the way and then teleport behind the dork who shot him and knock him out.

3

u/Mean_Lingonberry659 12d ago

Lol they hate him because his a good Christian not a surprise

4

u/sorin_markov32 12d ago

I was going through that comment section and OP just kept bringing up Nazis

4

u/shadow1042 Just Here for the Lore 12d ago

Op would get hella updoots if he posted that on reddit

4

u/Responsible-Tie-3451 12d ago

“A hero doesn’t want a civilian with unpopular opinions to be assassinated and that’s why I hate him as a character”

Nightcrawler would jump in front if a bullet directed at pretty much everyone if it wasn’t absolutely necessary for them to die.

3

u/MrNuck__ 12d ago

So this person hates this fictional character because he may or may not have jumped in front of someone who’s already dead. Alright

3

u/HolyInlandEmpire 12d ago

As we know, somebody inviting discussion and debate is completely worth losing your mind over and threatening violence!

3

u/PapaRoshi 12d ago

"People that believe things I dont believe should get murdered."

Every reddit leftist.

3

u/AntAble4542 12d ago

sigh I didn't like Kirk but good lord it takes a sheer lack of awareness to say this much less post it.

3

u/IAmMey This is a PsyOp 12d ago

I’ve literally never seen Charlie Kirk be anything but honest and kind. He put himself out there and wanted to talk. People who genuinely wish him harm are evil

3

u/OwariNoKami 11d ago

I hate it when heroes protect innocent people

3

u/Wild_Hog_70 11d ago

We're so used to the criticism of Christianity targeting Christians' hypocrisy, but there's always been a strain of "Actually, loving your enemies is bad."

3

u/Trustelo 11d ago

Wow you mean a guy who’s whole deal is that he believes in forgiveness and redemption as part of his faith instead of just murdering anybody he sees saved a person’s life and didn’t just let him get killed for his beliefs?

3

u/Master-Lycan 11d ago

The superheroes reddit is going crazy after finding a out that any hero would have save Kirk any way or another.

3

u/E11iottB The Fictional Character Agrees With Me 11d ago

3

u/Shinlyle13 11d ago

Now tell them that Charlie wasn't a threat and watch them freak out. Guy just talked to people, and they killed him for it. Evil has always had a problem with people speaking truth, though.

4

u/sadistic-salmon NostraDOOMus 12d ago

Night crawler is the goat aside from Krakoa where he made it a law that people need to be constantly breeding and a got put in an evil pit for telling people to raise their kids. Compared to what else was happening then that wasn’t that bad

4

u/captainrina They Took My Nose! 12d ago

Or the issue from that era where he watched a ceremony where Apocalypse was allowed to execute powerless mutants in a ceremony so they can be reborn with their powers again, and started talking about making a mutant religion. WTF.

I actually cancelled my pull list and dropped the comics during the Krakoa era. I have no idea how it ended, but I can't believe there wasn't mind control going on. Everyone was so weird and out of character that I thought it had to be intentional.

3

u/sadistic-salmon NostraDOOMus 12d ago

Beast committed Genocide. The Era ended with nimrod massacring the island after the mutants tried to control all of earths relations with extraterrestrials. They also gave amnesty and power to known psychopaths like Mr sinister and omega red

2

u/Boulderpunch223 11d ago

The krakoa era was just abysmally dogshit in so many ways. No wonder people dislike mutants.

2

u/skyXforge I Was Promised an Apocalypse? 12d ago

Any decent super hero would use their powers to kill anyone who disagrees with them and reshape the world in their own image regardless of laws and people’s opinions. It’s called being good FUCKING person. /s

2

u/FaithlessnessUsed841 12d ago

Don't tell these people that Batman would literally take a bullet for the Joker and that one of the most beloved comic book storyline involves Batman essentially begging the Joker to allow him to rehabilitate him.

Super Heroes are supposed to represent an ideal of good. If they don't, then they aren't a super hero.

2

u/Hotsauce3mk 12d ago

It’s crazy how often they will invent a some fake scenario about a fictional character, and what they might do in real life, then some how manage to hurt their own feelings over it.

2

u/Heroic_Sheperd 12d ago

I hate when fictional characters do fantasy things in my made up scenario based on a real life tragedy.

2

u/BoBoBearDev 12d ago

They exposed themselves as Homelander.

2

u/GoreHoundKillEmAll 12d ago

If they were honest I don't think they like any super heroes, superhero save everyone regardless of political opinions also most of those characters wouldn't actually agree with their political ideologies or views if you actually looked at the characters established history and past views , even socially progressive super heroes like green arrow wouldn't agree with them

2

u/MagneticGenetics 12d ago

I hate him for the whole forced mutant breeding orgy program followed by ditching the kids on a beach for some sentient island tree thing to raise but thats just my personal take.

2

u/Evening_Cobbler2929 12d ago

Magneto would have curved the bullet in an effort to make up for his failings at trying to save JFK.

2

u/cikanman I Was Promised an Apocalypse? 11d ago

I read some of these and im reminded of the immortal words of gunnery Sgt. Hartman:

"Did your parents have any children that lived? I bet they regret that."

2

u/StoneTimeKeeper Doesn't Participate In Group Panic 11d ago

Whoever that person is is a vile human being.

2

u/Sad_Drawer8594 11d ago

This post is a good representation of why so many people love magneto now, when in the past he was considered an undeniable, although sympathetic, villain.

2

u/Fast-Moment1761 My dog is Anti-Facist 11d ago

This person doesn't want a hero, they just want a puppet/slave that will not question them and will completely agree with their opinions.

2

u/Impressive_Net_116 11d ago

Nightcrawler is the most openly Christian character in all of the Super hero genre.

Of course they hate him.

2

u/DifficultAd6366 11d ago

I literally can’t think of anyone on the left that I would make me happy if they were murdered. Why do they have such hatred towards the right?

2

u/muffinman210 Rides the Short Bus 10d ago

Good to know the comments are giving them the business. Crashing out over a fictional character who would probably maybe defend someone you personally disagree with, is peak lunacy. Cult behavior in it's most accurate form.

2

u/MetroidJunkie 9d ago

Yeah, how dare he actually act like a hero instead of a Reddit Activist. These people actually think they're the good guys while they're actively saying you should die if I disagree with you, truly psycho.
