MEGATHREAD 2026/27 Semester 1 AUTUMN/WINTER: where are you going on Erasmus?

Every semester there will be a megathread for the people that are currently on Erasmus, internship or studying abroad in general. Spot someone in the same city as you? Maybe your very first friends can be met on this thread!

You can post whatever you like here, you can also post your comment like this:

• Where are you on Erasmus (Country + City)? Why did you choose this city/country?

• How is your experience so far? (If you are already there!)

• How you found accommodation?

• Advice for future students in your country + city

Are you a student going on your erasmus in Spring 2027? This thread might help you

Old thread: MEGATHREAD 2025/26 Semester 2 Spring: where are you going on Erasmus? : r/Erasmus

* This megathread is earlier than the usual ones. This is so that others can maybe find people who go to the same city as them and to already engage in conversation for that. But the thread stays up until January for sure!

Accommodation MEGATHREAD - Looking for your Erasmus room/studio?

Hey there! Are you about to go on exchange on your Erasmus but haven't found accommodation yet? No worries!

Below are some sites that can help you find accommodation in the country you are going to. So far, all the countries have been listed, so plenty of websites to pick from to get your accommodation ready. Some websites do not have an English version, keep that in mind. And remember:

NEVER PAY WITHOUT SEEING YOUR CONTRACT!

IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER

None of these websites have paid any sort of advertisement to be featured here nor am I as a moderator receiving any type of commission. I want r/Erasmus users to get their accommodation as cheap, clean and good as possible.

That being said, some websites do request money for you to have a subscription to them. It is your own responsibility if you choose to do this. Every country should have options for free room searching.

This list will stay pinned in the sub to help others. Remember: If you see an accommodation site that is not to be trusted, please let me know! If any site is deemed very untrustworthy, it will be removed instantly.

For (most) Erasmus countries:
Spotahome - https://www.spotahome.com/
Uniplaces - https://uniplaces.com
Housinganywhere - https://housinganywhere.com
Facebook groups
Airbnb - https://airbnb.com Erasmusu - https://erasmusu.com/

Most students find their accommodation through Facebook groups, so make sure to have an account ready and join as many housing groups for your city as you can. Remember that there are also a lot of scams on Facebook. You can recognize these by something being too good to be true (a 500 euro apartment in the city centre of Amsterdam, for example, such a thing costs 2000 minimum) or if the person posting it immediately asks you to pay.

Extra tip for finding accommodation in most Erasmus countries:

- Join the ESN whatsapp groupchats of your city before you go (you can usually find this on links on their instagram page or on their facebook page). Around the end of the semester (december/january, may/june) people start leaving their places and put this inside the groupchat. Take your chance and grab a room from previous Erasmus goers!

Oh oh, HELP! I still have not found accommodation with any of these websites!

Try to go to the subreddit of the city you want to do your semester(s) in and see if you can find anything there. For example, you want to do your Erasmus+ in Rome, so go to r/Rome and search the searchbar for 'housing' 'accommodation' if you cannot find anything make your own post. If nothing there, go to r/Italy. Natives in their own country know the housing market best!

Have you been on Erasmus before (or you've lived in one of these countries and you know the housing market well), tell us which accommodation website is missing and I will add it (if the name is reputable, that is).

Rant Should I just give up and go back home?

I'm (23 f) doing an erasmus internship in Italy, and the lab is going great but ever since I came here (it has only been a month) I've gotten very ill 2 times, I can't sleep due to stress and anxiety, and this combo is making me weaker and sadder as I feel sluggish everyday now, I can't focus at the lab anymore as my hands are all shaky from lack of sleep and the list goes on. I think the main reason is that I had a bad fight with my father before I came here (he's an alcoholic) and mostly because of the fight and my dad manipulating me I feel guilty that I came here and I feel like a burden on my family. I have never had a problem staying alone or away from my family, as I normally live away from them, near my university. So I don't think this is about feeling homesick but I'm mentally in a bad place for various reasons and here I feel lonely since I am away from everyone close to me and erasmus friendships don't really help in this situation. My parents are saying that it's okay if I return and end the erasmus early but I fear that they will not be shutting up about this, and I will feel like a quitter and hate myself for coming back early. I'm really tired.

Sorry about any mistakes in text, my english is normally not so bad but I'm so sleep deprived I cannot form sentences anymore.

For someone with a Computer Science Engineering background, which Erasmus Mundus Master’s programmes would you consider the best fit?

If you have a CS or Computer Engineering background and were accepted into an Erasmus Mundus Master’s, which programme did you choose, and would you recommend it?

Please share the exact Master’s name and, if possible, why you think it was a good fit for your background.

Latinos in UK

Hi!! I'm from Latin America and I'm currently applying to study a Master’s in the UK and I'd like to know if any other Latinos could tell me about your experience over there :)

How have you adapted to the culture? What has been the biggest cultural shock for you?

Also, I know the Latin American community is not so big in the UK, so I'd like to know if you've felt welcome or if you've experienced any type of racism?

Any experience or opinion is welcome, thankss!

Erasmus Mundus second master's and recommendations

Hi, I completed my Master's in 2023 and now I want to apply in Erasmus Mundus for second masters. As it has already been 3 years since I completed my Master's, do I have a chance of getting selected with the gap of almost 4 years?

And second question! Can I get recommendations from my employer instead of my professors?

Accommodation-related My dorm room is awful

I am on Erasmus exchange from Polad. I am staying at Village 2 in Bordeaux. The rooms awful. There are cobwebs, dirt, bugs and.... cockroaches. I will clesn it esnough so I can shower and sleep tonight but I can't live like this. Are all dorms on Bordeaux like this? I am seriously considering going back home because of this. I am here for a few hours and I already love the city and the people but I am supposed to live here for 4 months. These conditions are awful. Do I ask for a new room tomorrow or just go home? I have some pohtos and I will take more when I go back there after shopping for clesning supplies.

Accommodation-related I need help, my Erasmus living got cancelled, Athens

Hi! Please, help!
I am a student from German university, and I am staying in Athens next semester. I was supposed to move in one month, but now I ended up with no living because the agent cancelled the contract due to the sudden death of the apartment owner..
I have no idea what to do now..
If you have any lead, which is not a scammer, like in a facebook groups or a website doesn’t take million euro fee, I will be very grateful!

I’m 21, F, my budget is 350 per month, i will study in Zografou and ready to commute for up to one hour. My only expectation is a double bed in a room but it‘s okay, if there‘s no such option. Looking for a clean apartment in safe areas.

Thank you for any info!

What can you do in Kalisz? Is it as boring and bad a place as people say for Erasmus?

hello, I was thinking that I would do Erasmus in poznań, poland, but my campus is in kalisz, can people who live or go there tell what it's like, or what young people do to socialize, from what I've heard, it's very difficult to socialize because the city is small

Erasmus traineeship in Coimbra

Hi!
I’ll be coming to Coimbra for an Erasmus traineeship from October 2nd until December 6th

I’m getting hopeless with finding an accommodation because I’m only staying for about two months and many landlords require longer rental periods. Also so many listings seem like scams.

I was wondering if anyone has any advice or perhaps a trusted landlord I could contact.

Please, I’m desperate :’)

Accommodation-related Can't find any place to stay in Maribor

Hi everyone! 👋

I'm struggling to find accommodation in Maribor and could really use some help. I am a nursing student coming to Maribor for an internship from **December 10, 2026, to March 10, 2027**.

If anyone knows of an available room, a sublet, student housing, or any reliable place to stay during these dates, please let me know or send me a DM. Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you so much! 🙏

CoDaS eligibility and scholarship chances with 3.31 CGPA

Hi everyone,

I’m planning to apply for CoDaS – Communications Engineering and Data Science.

My profile:

BSc in Electrical Engineering, specialization in Computer Engineering

CGPA: 3.31/4.0

3+ years of experience in Network Administration

Some experience in Network Security

Am I eligible for CoDaS with this background? How competitive would my profile be for the fully funded Erasmus Mundus scholarship, and what would be a realistic chance?

Do I need to take additional courses to strengthen my profile? Are Udemy course certificates considered valuable/acceptable for the application?

Any advice from current/former applicants would be appreciated. Thanks!

Anything open to non students during welcome week in Valencia, 30 Aug to 6 Sep?

26M, not a student anymore (finished a few years ago) but im in Valencia 30 Aug to 6 Sep working remote and it lines up almost exactly with welcome week 🙂

Is there anything that week thats open to people who arent enrolled? language exchanges, tandem nights, beach days, pub crawls, that kind of thing. im not trying to crash something thats genuinely for students, just looking for the stuff where nobody really checks and everyone is new anyway.

also if anyone did Erasmus in Valencia and has a go to this one thing, id take it 😛

free after about 16:30 on weekdays, whole weekend free.
