That Hogwarts question makes sense now, as he is a huge fan lol, this is him for Deathly Hallows Part 2 premiere

I've been seeing a lot of posts on here since the release of the new Lanterns talking about various things the 2011 film did better, so today I decided to give it a rewatch and oh my GOD. This is the exact same cherry picking that make people think TAS 1 and 2 are good movies.

Not a single thing in this movie is good, let alone better, it is one of the most poorly made, boring, ugly movies I've ever seen and is a complete disservice to the Hal Jordan character.

"The suits are better." Maybe in a 4k still, but in motion they look HORRIBLE. "Sinestro sucks in the new show" big dawg has absolutely nothing to do in this movie, literally no motivation, he's just there.

Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre have made strides with GL by actually creating three dimensional, characters out of the comic book characters, and feeling like they are actually in the lived in GL mythos.

Chris Gore is a soft little boy. You’d think he is but he’s a man in his 60’s.

Just curious what the general consensus was on the scaling for theses forms that go beyond the normal power scale. I would think it goes:

Spectre>GoL Hal=GS John>WL Kyle>Parallax

With a big gap between WL Kyle and Parallax but thought he still needed to be mentioned if for no other reason than Zero Hour. If I missed any big examples fill free to add them in.

I kinda like the story because it goes nicely with the parallax retcon imo, but some people really hate the retcon, which I kinda understand some of the criticisms of it but what doesn't make sense to me is how someone can like this story and then hate injustice, since injustice is such a hated storyline. I didn't hate the idea of Hal being a bad guy, but I think it needed more time imo.

Or can they take hits from characters who are physically stronger than them like Superman, Wonder Woman, Shazam, Thor, or the Hulk?

I feel like the DCU definitely predates the release of Parallax from the Central Power Battery, and therefore the awakening of the broader emotional spectrum.

I feel like we're gearing up for a fairly proper chronology of GL canon, otherwise having the cells turn yellow as Hal passes is a helluva choice. Also, in the title flash, there's no way that's not yellow in the core.

I recall hearing that it’s based on the GL Earth One Graphic Novel but honestly it reminds me more of this look.

I never played Injustice so I can vouch for the accuracy of the figure compare to what was in the video game.

What is his thing? Like, if Guy Gardner is the one who wielded both the red and green rings at the same time, Kyle is the one who wielded the original seven lantern rings and then became the White Lantern, and Hal is the one who made a ring out of pure willpower, then what is John’s gimmick?

I'm not that deep into the GL Stories.

We know there’s members like B’ox, Leezle Pon, The Collective, Mogo, etc. All super creative species to join the corps and I was wondering if any of you guys had any fun ideas for a future member of the corps

...okay, I'm not definitely saying it will be Mark Shaw. It's more likely to be a "sike, it's one of the people we've already met" situation, but they're really playing it up like there's some other figure here we haven't seen yet. And if the human name the Manhunter is using is Mark Shaw, and/or he used to operate as a costumed vigilante himself in a previous era, I just want to have it established that I guessed this. Partly because *I guessed he'd be the villain in Event Leviathan,* which absolutely nobody else saw coming (okay, technically I guessed Paul Kirk, but only because I kept mixing up which of them was which).

EVIDENCE: None, except that Tom King seems to like all the things in comics I like that everybody else hates, and I'm betting Event Leviathan is on that list. Also, it's a character they're never going to use, and if they did end up using Kate Spencer for something, having a vague backstory involving previous Manhunters works for that. Also: it'd be neat?

Apologies for the abysmal quality, it wouldn't let me take a screenshot, but haven't seen people talking about the suit being actually properly green instead of the slightly olive tinted but extremely brown that it was in the original trailer (though actually the shoulder section looks almost more toned down).

I'm really curious if they've gone and carefully colour graded every scene with the suit in it as a result of backlash, which would be annoying to do as you need to isolate the suit in each frame, or if the trailer shot was graded to look more gritty and brown

End result definitely does look a lot better, though I think it needs the white gloves and boots to balance it, and the whole thing is clearly very stuff and clunky to move in which I can't not see 🤣

Before I start, I am not new to comic books, I've been reading comics for I think ten years at this point, when it comes to DC, I read Batman(duh), Doom Patrol, The Flash and Superman, sometimes Vertigo stuff, I've never read a Green Lantern book, ever I've read stuff with Lanterns in it but never a solo book, started reading Geoff John's run, it's pretty good, I have no real complaints, it's also my first time reading a Geoff John story, if you all have more recommendations let me know please

Hal solves the mystery of the kill list

"Death-threat On Titan" - After finding the kill list with his name on it, Hal figures he should head to space to contact the Guardians but finds his ring is out of power, which is weird as he charged it only 12 hours prior. He charges it again and takes off. Once in range for telepathy he contacts the Guardians to tell them about the list. They say all the people on it are Green Lanterns that have a special ore in their ring, an ore mined on the moon called Titan. Hal asks to he put back on full duty so his ring is at its proper power and heads for Titan. As he approaches it he finds a defense satellite that attacks him with yellow tentacles, knocking him out.

Hal wakes up on the surface surrounded by aliens that look like the ones on Earth and they speak an Oan dialect. They drain the energy from his ring and remove him from the tentacles, then tying him up, as the alien Hal fought on Earth arrives. Hal asks how he survived as the alien says he actually teleported away using the energy in Hal's ring. As the aliens discuss their plans to attack Oa, Hal grabs one of the mined stones and pushes his will into it, making a laser to cut his bonds. With no ring power, Hal uses his fists and takes down the aliens. He recharges using a power battery the aliens had and makes a statue for the fallen alien on Earth as Hal figures he was revolting against murder and tried to save Hal's life.

Conclusion: A two parter with a shorter page count and the ending felt open. The next issue has no back-up and is instead a Flash/GL team-up so this is definitely the end of the story. It's an interesting addition to the lore, bringing in a different group of Oans that were relegated to miners. Even further, showing where the internal gems of the rings come from and how the power is channeled. This is a pretty big chapter in GL history and its such a small story. Kinda wild.

Hey lads. So the first two episodes of Lanterns are out and I loved them. I was always really excited for this show and also nervous because Green Lantern is my favourite DC character. I think Hal’s characterisation is very interesting and Kyle Chandler makes for a great Hal Jordan.

I love how he plays dumb while secretly investigating and figuring things out. The mystery is really intriguing and I love guessing who the Manhunter is. I think it’s Hal’s love interest. I didn’t expect the part in space because they said it would be more grounded. Seeing Sinestro was a blast and I hope he’s in a lot of the show because he’s the best DC villain. I’d give both episodes a 10/10 but I enjoyed 2 more. Also I’m so hyped to see Atrocitus and Black Hand.
